San Diego's thread of meetups every Friday Night at SD Saltmines
Ichipoo replied to shtkn's topic in West Coast
I think I should be free this Friday again. So who's willing to host? Though it would be cool if Spidey or someone up a bit north could host IMO, that way I can expose myself to more players. -

GGs last night guys. Was expecting some more people but I didn't mind as I got to play Ken, bell and Wallace so it was a good learning experience. And thanks to Spidey for hosting, I honestly wouldn't mind driving up around Oceanside or Temecula more if it means having a chance to play more experienced players. Oh and LANDLORD! -

I've gotten 5B to hit airborne opponents before but I honestly wasn't expecting them to be in the air though. I think you need to be psychic with 5B as a footsie tool in general, because there's some start up to it and also there is some whiff recovery to it and I have gotten CH out of it a couple of times. If you ask me, you can't always rely on 5B as a way to start offense since you're somewhat limited in what you can when they block, as you can't Jump Cancel. Sure you can do '5B > 5B > stuff' on block and get away with it if they're being respectful and go straight into AoA but that's pretty much it. The way I see it, Naoto somewhat suffers the same situation Noel did in BB, where the optimal way for both of them to start pressure is from 5A/2A, yet they both suffer from having subpar normals. Luckily for Naoto, she can harass the opponent with traps and 5D~D which helps bring close the distance to use 5A/2A if she chooses to. -

And Matsumaya said that the new Jojo game wasn't a fighting game? -
My two cents on the matchup as a Naoto player. People say that it's in Naoto's favor, but given how scrub level we are compared to the Japanese, it seems that it's only in her favor when the player is good at zoning properly, which is something a majority of us Naoto players still have trouble doing, especially against Kanji. Other than that, it seems that all it takes for Kanji is to land a Zio, whether it lands or it's blocked, run up and you're free to play Rock Paper Scissors with her. Guess correctly 3-4 times and the match is yours. I suppose Naoto's have to learn to zone intelligently plus staying mobile in order to avoid Zio.

Gonna try to clear up my schedule for this Friday. I think one of my friends can bring a PS3, but we need a monitor. I know Tsukibaka can provide, maybe Bryan can too, assuming they come. Anyway what time can you start hosting? -

Got at least two of my friends who might be interested in coming to play BB and try out P4A but they want to know if we're meeting up in Oceanside or not. I'm assuming that Kevin is free to host this Friday since Spidey hasn't said anything? Either way, my friends don't really care where we're meeting up. -

j.A and j.B should be used more in general as they're overheads while j.C is not. Besides, mixing in a couple of 'j.A xN > j.B > land > stuff' in your blockstrings due to their speed keeps the opponent honest. -
I've always contemplated joining the Navy after I get my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering as an officer since I want my future children to enjoy the benefits that I'm enjoying right now due to having a father who was in the Navy for 20+ years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer (free tuition, free health insurance, etc) since I don't see the economy getting better soon. Then I'll try to get stationed in Japan since all my friends and family said they liked it there when they visited/lived there before.

What makes Denpa an extraordinary Naoto player is that he can convert into an optimal combo off of almost any hit, which is especially important for Naoto since I don't think she can last long if we keep giving the opponent multiple chances to run it back due to the player only converting into easy Fate reducing combos. -

Oh my god mynus, thank youuuuu. I've been busy with school lately...... plus I've been a bit lazy as well. EDIT: I suppose I'll handle Naoto's 'regular' combos sometime this week. -

Yeah it would be cool if Spidey could host this Friday. I find someone on MM who also lives in Oceanside so I'm sure he'd love to come to these meetups. -
That FT10 pretty much confirms that Yu shits all over Naoto since at the end of the day, Yu is relatively a more solid character. No offense and I'm not trying to start shit here, but I find it funny when Yu players say they have trouble with Naoto. I mean, this is one of our WORST matchups after all.

It's because Mudoon has positive proration, which allows Naoto to deal massive damage and also her infamous Same Move Proration combos, which makes her have the highest damage potential in the game. EDIT: Damn it, got ninja'd. -

Thanks for coming guys! For a while, I thought it was just going to be me and Kevin for a while since I was the first one there. And last night made me decide that I'm not touching BB until CP comes out. -

I only count 9 moves before the Niren Kiba. The loop won't work until you chain 10 different moves. After Niren Kiba A, try shooting a B bullet and cancel out of Aim stance immediately so you can perform 2B > 2C > loop.
