GGs to all last night. SCHMEEEEEE~ - thanks for showing me why everyone hates Noel's drive. Maybe if I actually learn this game I'll be able to get around it consistently. 9 - Good stuff in Guilty, like always Everyone who tried Wonderful World - thanks for giving the game a try. It really does get interesting once you learn shit for it ... maybe check out the thread on it in the Misc Games subforum. Ragna, but I plan on trying out Mu once I unlock her. Already tried out Hazama, but 15 minutes in training mode tell me he takes effort to play, and thus is not my type of character. We shall see, Tales. We shall see. *continues spamming Hell's Rain* 10 seconds on the .jp wiki and I'm highly disagreeing with your translation already. Maybe I should go ahead and get an actual translation on the poverty wiki. -

Hey, where's WanWan on that list? I know at least one person (me) voted for it! -
Fraga - That's about where I got to (give or take a couple details), but it all feels really awkward and is in general a pain in the ass to translate. I should probably engage in this online play you speak of. Stupid things like work keep taking up my time. Edit: Dammit Greats, I pop on IRC to play and you're freaking idle. <__<

Hi again. Just posting to let you guys know that I updated all of the background info for all of the characters on the poverty wiki, except Orphe since I couldn't translate her info well enough.
-
Hey guys, hope you don't mind the bump ... First off - looks like the .jp wiki now has Corona's frame data as well. Second - Some matchup experience from CT: Lunathia vs Sasari - the possibly the silliest matchup so far. Maybe it's just how me and Furok play, but we both tended to end up at opposite ends of the screen spamming stuff and trying to hit each other. Although, he was trying to push in to close range every once in a while. Lunathia vs Neva - fuck Neva. She goes through zoning like it wasn't even there. Cue switch to rushdown Lunathia. Finally, and most interestingly - I was browsing the game's homepage, and found a bunch of interesting info. Each character has a bunch of info on them, almost none of which is on our wiki. I think I'm gonna start trying to translate the info. Nothing important gameplay-wise, but it's nice to have some background info on the characters, right? Even more interesting, the same page also lists "characters in development". I'll list the info below, in spoiler tags in case people don't want the surprise ruined: Completion: 5% Completion: 2% Completion: 3% Completion: 2% Completion: 2% Completion: 5% Completion: 5%

Ooh frame data! Just checked, and it looks like Cielo's is up there as well. I think you're a bit off. By my translation, it looks like: Move Name Startup Frames Active Frames Recovery Frames Total Frames Attack Level Advantage on Block Advantage on Air Block I dunno about the frame rate (I didn't spot any mention of it in particular, although it wasn't exactly a thorough search ). I did notice on Lemius's page, the change notes indicate that the author feels the data is accurate to within 2 frames.

Fixed start times are a good idea. I am a bit concerned with the exact times, since if I have work on that day I usually don't arrive until around 9-9:30 (possibly even a bit later if I picking people up). But we'll see how it pans out ... I second this. One warning, though: playing against me might be a frustrating first experience to the game, since I play a really silly keepaway character. Definitely want Wonderful World and Arcana Heart. I wouldn't mind Inuyasha and/or Senko no Ronde either ... -
Maybe, but you do have to remember that if you keep blocking Lunathia's shit so readily, you're going to keep getting pushed to the other side of the screen. You know, right where Lunathia wants you to be. Just checked the wiki - aside from Misfortune (the "sword move"), her only air unblockable move is 2P. Misfortune is a shitty anti-air, anyways, since the second part only comes out if the first part connects. 6H is easily reactable. Instant jH, not so much - it's pretty fucking fast (possibly as fast as TK Ensenga ). By itself, you don't get any combos with it, although I believe that if you go straight to Hell's Rain they won't have much choice but to block it. Fun setup, though: Disaster (spike pit) SPC into instant jH jH hits first, allowing the long stun time of the spikes. You can then hit a falling jH in the same jump, just as they come out of the spikes, to juggle them into whatever. Instant jH also gets to be funny when you consider details like the fact that 5S is both jump cancellable, and can cancel into 2S. A setup like this nullifies the spikepit combo I gave above, but if all you need is a quick hit to finish them off, it's enough.

Tales (agp24) and I already know this one quite well, since it's what happens every time we play WW. Eighty or so percent of the time is me running away and spamming far attacks while he tries to get around them. Hell's rain, in particular, causes lots of problems. It also gets more rediculous when you consider that Lunathia can mix Cielo up while doing this - 2S or 214S for low (214S only if you SPC it, otherwise it has tons of recovery), 6H or instant jH (yes, it hits crouchers!) for high. Of course, done properly these lead into combos that knockdown, full screen away. Cielo certainly can win the matchup, but she really has to work for it, while Lunathia (from our experience, at least), is pretty much on cruise control all day. I'd say Lunathia-Cielo is somewhere around 7-3 in Lunathia's favor currently.

Was just perusing the japanese wiki and found this little nugget: all air backdashes have invulnerability, much like ground dashes. I also noticed that there isn't a listing of the backdash invulnerability frame data on our poverty wiki; I'll go ahead and add the info to the system mechanics page (that's where the info is on the japanese wiki, anyways). Also, can't say much about Fraga's trio, but I do know Alicephia's forward dash can be used to get silly quick air normals, and lead to mixups as she gets close to landing.

Rather empty, unfortunately. Something like eight people total. Tales brought Evil Zone. We played it for something like ten minutes, and then we decided we'd rather play something of a much higher quality - Inuyasha*. Other than that, a fair bit of Melty and Guilty, marred by the fact that we had maybe four sticks between the lot of us (fuck my stick for being a broken-wire piece of shit. Mindgame fix it up! ). * no, I'm not saying Inuyasha is amazing; it's fun, but not that great. Evil Zone is just that bad. Almost as bad as Sonic the Fighters. Also, FYI guys - due to Uprising being this coming Saturday I'm not going to be at BG Friday. I'm not (quite) that insane (yet). Also, I hear spooky is gonna at uprising. Oh crap time to get serious Melty-style! -

Looks like another event to head to. My vote for the wildcard slot goes to Wonderful World. Also, dammit Fraga why did you put GG and MB on separate days? You're trying to kill me via travel, aren't you? -
Has anyone else tried out the new 0.5 final version (not the beta - there's a newer one) yet? Some things I've noticed: Arcade mode is back! Wheee~ Music seems to be working consistently now. Lunathia feels like she got nerfed a bit. Air normals seem to have less untechable time. Training dummy keeps recovering from <whatever launch> jKS jJSH236S before the second jS (in 0.5 beta that's a staple combo ender for me). Although, this might just be me screwing up royally, so who knows ... Can no longer relaunch after far super. Goodbye 80% combos. At least it's looking like all of her mixups will still work, although they'll likely lead to less damage now. EDIT: Shit, almost forgot: [*]Win quotes. Didn't bother translating any of them as I was playing, since I'm lazy. Also, I only saw them in arcade mode, but I haven't played VS with anyone yet, so I can't say if they're there. [*]Odd thing: Neva has a win stance (despite seeming to be the only one that has one). Also, when facing her in arcade mode, the game randomly decided that the fight was best of 1 instead of best of 3; it reverted after that fight, though.

Less awkward than the game arbitrarily deciding which way you're facing (see MB:AC PC 4player mode ... it's stupid silly). And oh fuck why are we talking about Isuka? This could get ugly. For the record, a couple facts about Isuka: - if you're getting hit/combo'd by multiple enemies your burst gauge says "fuck this shit" and fills up incredibly fast (I think you fill up in maybe 5-6 hits ) - if I remember correctly, faultness defense nullifies high/low mixups (probably to prevent stupid easy high/low unblockables being thrown around all day). - top tier isuka : face away from opponent, backdash (towards them), turn around potbuster. rinse and repeat until victory. - is broken as fuck, but who cares? - even still, shit is fun. I'll probably sign up. Also, just for the record: Regarding the Inuyasha tournament idea, it was Tales pushing it forward. I just didn't disagree, and will be bringing the game (since it's fun). We were also talking about throwing some extra $ in if we have a tournament, as incentive for people to try it out (my thought would actually be a consolation prize amount for whoever places highest excluding me and Tales, but m'eh). -

Yeah, where the hell was everyone? There were literally something like five people there. What gives, guys? Anyways, important Inuyasha matchup information gained from when we were playing around with the game: Naraku isn't as bad as I originally pinned him; probably mid tier or so. His 4S is pretty godlike unless the opponent can trade with it for advantage or get around it. His super is still worthless though, easily one of the worst in the game due to how slow it is and how shit the hitbox is. Demon Inuyasha also moved up the list, I'd now put him mid-high tier, maybe even a bit higher. Tales found that he can go into 50% nearly anywhere with meter, and in the corner without meter. Also, amusingly, DI's super, hitting in the corner, can get like 60-70% damage total in a combo, but leaves him open for a combo from the opponent. It seems that this is generally worth it, though, since most characters can't produce that level of damage so easily, making it a favorable trade. His command grab still kinda sucks, though. Far as we can tell, Sesshomaru is the only character with any invulnerability on anything. Namely his super, which is invulnerable for a good bit of time in the middle of the animation. Mainly because he's not on the screen. We've pretty much officially decided that Sango is unviable, to the surprise of nobody who knows much of anything about this game. Some specific matchups: Demon Inuyasha vs Miroku: really close to 5-5. Demon Inuyasha is constantly trying to force Miroku into the corner, where anything leads to massive damage. 6S and jump-ins all around. Meanwhile, Miroku is trying to keep him at bay, mainly using 2H and 6S to stop DI's 6H and other shit to stop jump-ins, all while trying to maintain position near the middle of the screen. Demon Inuyasha vs Inuyasha: around 6-4, in DI's favor. DI gets around IY's normally bullshit projectile game easily, since 6S goes under IY's air 6S while closing the distance quickly. This means IY has to shift his game to keeping out DI, but he doesn't have as good tools as Miroku to do this. Also, DI can punish IY's super really easily. Demon Inuyasha vs Koga: I'd say 5-5 or 5.5-4.5, in Koga's favor. I've always maintained that Koga is a better DI, but playing this matchup as much as we did makes me rethink that. For the most part, Koga's 6S is better than DI's 6S, save for DI getting more raw damage off of his, while Koga gets oki setups. However, Koga can easily stuff DI's 6S with 4S if he sees it coming, leading to a BnB combo (5HHS, or in the corner: 5H 5H 5HHS). Since both are the "fast, close hitter" type of character, it tends to be pretty close. Demon Inuyasha vs Totosai: Somewhere around 6.5-3.5, in Totosai's favor. There's a reason we consider Totosai top tier - his specials are awesome. In this matchup, it's actually his 4S that does a lot of the talking, since not only does it serve some chip damage on oki, but it also shuts down DI's 6S stupid easy when timed well. TO's 2S, the infamous "Cow Drop", is a bit less useful than usual, thanks to DI's quick movement, but can still come in handy in some circumstances. The main reason DI doesn't just keel over and die in this matchup is because he has the speed to catch up to Totosai, and when he does catch him, it hurts like a bitch. Naraku vs Sango: 8-2, maybe even worse, in Naraku's favor. We already knew Sango is shit tier, and this changes nothing. The entire match is Naraku spamming 4S, to which Sango has no good answer. If Naraku gets her in the corner with it, she's stuck guarding or getting hit by it until she loses, with little to no ability to escape. Kagome vs Kikyo: 5-5ish. The two characters have pretty similar (read: practically identical) move sets. Kikyo has a bit more focus on close range attacks, and has a real good jH, while Kagome's projectile is a bit better and her super is at least somewhat usable. In the end, though, the matchup is almost the same as playing against the same character. I know there were other ones we played around with a bit, but that's all I'm remembering right now. Current running tier list (in my opinion): Bullshit tier: Shippo (SH) (banned) Top: Totosai (TO) High: Koga (KO) Mid-High: Demon Inuyasha (DI), Inuyasha (IY), Miroku (MI) Mid: Naraku (NA), Sesshomaru (SE) Mid-Low: Kikyo (KI), Kagome (KA) Low: Kagura (KG) Bottom tier: Basement tier: Shit tier: Worthless: Roll tier: F-- tier: Sango (SA) We need to tournament this shit up again sometime soon. The game is actually fun, even if a bit poverty (understatement of the week right there. ) Okay, that took me half of forever to type up. Time to actually get to sleep now. -
Yeah, I played around a bit last night with 6H4O link into 5S. It works, but the timing is a royal bitch and it seems you can't get two iterations of the juggle (5S jSH) like the wiki says. Best I found is 6H4O 5S jSH <land> jKS kKSH236S ... which is only maybe 1% damage more than 6H j<slight delay>SH <land> jKS jKSH236S I tried the 214S SPC 5H > 214S hits > 5H, but it seems 5H is too slow for it to work in this version. Generally I'll do ___ 214S SPC, then follow with either IAD jH or something like 5S5H (timing the hits to catch right after the sword hits) then into air combo. Not really sure if it's worth the meter, damage-wise, but it at least gives a knockdown (those are hard to come by when your character has no moves that KD standing/crouching opponents) and a change for oki or setting up keepaway. Playing around last night, I've come to the conclusion that all of Lunathia's damage is in far super. The thing is ridiculous; something like 40% on its own and comboable. And I found some lovely tricks with it, but I'm keeping my mouth shut on those for now. Yeah, Cielo has at least one move I know that reaches over spikepit. Lunathia players - never set close spikepit against Cielo - it is inviting pain. Unfortunately, I can't really give any advice in return; I don't have much matchup experience (should probably get on that netplay thing sometime), and Lunathia is the only character I even know the movelist for. Was considering picking up either Ryuza (the Ky-wannabe that he is) or Alicephia (despite half of CT already playing her) as a secondary, but I'm pretty far from having concrete details on their play so far.

I've looked at the wiki, and from my attempts either my execution sucks royally (certainly a possibility, but I'd hope not this bad), or most of what they have there involves things that no longer work. For instance, there's a few listed at 6H 5S ... I couldn't get that to link for shit, even (just to see if it was my shitty timing on the link) using turbo to mash the 5S out. The opponent seems to recover before they're low enough to get hit by 5S. I do get some decent damage (20-30% meterless) with a few combos I scrubbed up on my own, mainly for close range, and they at least lead back into oki or keepaway as I see fit. Still need to play around with how much extra I can get off things like 214S SPC in combos (that's probably the launcher you're thinking of - the one with the sword coming out of the ground). Also, command grab at far range into 5S/2S/maybe 5H into super is massive damage. Yields 60% or so. But it's risky since you need to get close with far-range set. PS - anyone else have experience with the Cielo-Lunathia matchup? Based on what Tales and I played, it seems like Cielo is dangerous if she gets in, but Lunathia can keep her away pretty easily and try to wear her down. In other words, the matches were all Tales telling me how much he hates me for having a character that can run away for half of forever.
-
This game is quite fun. Tales (agp24) and I were playing it last night in Connecticut (at the Fight Night). I'm playing Lunathia - this girl is pretty awesome. Full screen dust into combo into knockdown reset? Hell yes, even if it is only like 15% damage. Not to mention her zoning/keepaway abilities. As far as the music is concerned - it's hard to hear on my system, but it's definitely there. It sounds like it might be MIDI-based, so you may want to try messing around with your sound settings.

I can bring Arcana Heart and Inuyasha again. Also, any interest in older GG titles? I have X, XX, and XX/. Original GG would be a riot, though. Definitely would like to see EFZ and Wonderful World, too. Is it going to be like last time, holding a bunch of little tournies with nothing more than bragging rights on the line? EDIT: Oh yeah, just to let everyone know I have work this Friday so I won't be there until 8-9pm. -
Had a great time. Certainly looking forward to attending more major events in the future, now that I actually have the time and resources to do so! Thanks, but I don't think it's so much "beat" as "barely survived due to sheer luck and bullshit", considering the whole second fight of that match was me getting bodied by Spooky (I think the Jesus Beam angered him a bit :scared:) and the rest was me barely having the strength to pry narrow victories in rounds from his iron grip of death. ... De ... fense? What is that? In all seriousness, I know that's probably my biggest weak point. I'm too used to making other people be on defense - that doesn't work too well when your opponent manages to take the offense. Plus I haven't played your Baiken in half of forever, so that matchup was hell for me. It was my first time at a major. Of course I'm gonna bring my special touch of hype. Agreed. My only complaint with regard to this is that they took so long to decide and announce that they were going to postpone things. (Then again, I didn't play in Tekken and I was split between GG and MB so I didn't see all of the bracket shenanigans GG was getting hit with.) Oh, and thanks for completely wrecking my face with your Kohaku. I need things like that to keep my ego in check.

I'd feel bad about doing that, since he generally has jack shit to do there (he's not big into fighting games). Only reason I asked him to tag along last time was because we were having ranbats that week. Hah, you're quite the funny one, aren't you?
