The NEWEST NEW ENGLAND THREAD (A FUSION OF STATES)
Nuclear Cheese replied to Zoob's topic in Offline Community
Sorry, was too busy damning the rain and making a mad dash towards the car. Anyways, thanks again for hosting. Still not sure why I'm doing as well as I am in MK9 ... it doesn't make any sense. >__> GGs in Arcana and MK. ... and, I guess okay-ish games scrubbing out in JoJo's with Tales, not like I know a damn of what to do in that game. Reversal super all day YEAH! We should get Guilty or Melty set up next time (or perhaps Inuyasha - Tales, you still haven't redeemed yourself). Also, Tales says he's bringing Overture next time - you bitches better be ready! -

... never stopped me. Odds are I'll be at Why's again, short of something deciding to manifest itself and eating my free time. -

Thanks for hosting Why. Had a fun time, and if you'll keep hosting I'll keep showing up (as long as it's on the weekend, when I'm actually available ). Playing MK9 was fun, so I went and picked it up today. Already have some new stuff with teh Scorp, although I doubt I'll really take the game seriously (it is a comedy, after all). Also, Shao Kahn is a cheating bitch . GGs to all, as usual. Shoutouts to Tales for managing to find a way to actually have an off day in a game as simple as Inuyasha. Shoutouts to Zoob and Mindgame for not trying to hurt me while playing GG. Shoutouts to everyone else for simply being there to meet. Great times, looking forward to meeting up again. Shoutouts to the beatboxing TV for being awesome . And finally, shoutouts for DENNAYZ! -

Why - What day(s) of the week would you usually be holding casuals? I'd be up for heading down there (about the same distance at BG was from my place), but I could only do so on the weekends due to work. (Hence why, in all of history, I've only attended Furok's casuals once thusfar) Not saying base your entire plans around me, but just giving my perspective. Also GGs at the Mindhive. -
WARNING: INCOMING SCIENCE! The quick version is - it is entirely possible to jHS, jump cancel into jHS to fuzzy guard with Alicephia. After confirming this, I played around with it for a bit, and came up with this corner combo vs Lemius: 66 jHS jc jHS214K BRK jHS214S <land> 5PS <aircombo> Delay a bit between the last jHS and the 214S, or the combo drops. I have no idea if this is a good combo or not. I don't play Alicephia. Details Be sure to note that, unlike most FTGs, WanWan runs at 100 FPS. One frame = 10 ms. You can hit jHS as early as 8 frames after hitting the second 6 for your dash, and jHS will come out. I also found that you can hit it as late as 18 frames after and still have the jHS come out as early as possible (see footnote 1). The opponent must start guarding no later than 16 frames after jHS starts. Just checked, and this concurs with the frame data on the wiki. The earliest you can jump cancel jHS (assuming it hits on the first frame) is 27 frames after hitting the button, or 11 frames after it connects. This delay appears to be caused by hitstop. After jump canceling, you can enter the second jHS as soon as 2 frames after hitting 8. You can hit it as many as 13 frames after hitting 8 and still get it out as early as possible (again, see footnote 1). The latest you can enter the second jHS and still have it keep the "guard chain" from the first jHS is 49 frames after the first jHS (See footnote 2). This is 22 frames after hitting 8 for the jump cancel, assuming you jump cancel on the first frame possible. Conclusions It shouldn't be too hard to do with a bit of practice. From the numbers above, you have about 20 frames (1/5 second) of leeway to do the jump cancel and the second jHS. If you want to mix them up, you could go straight into j214K after the first jHS for the low. This yields a high/low with less than 0.3 seconds for the opponent to react (meaning they will likely need to guess). Unfortunately, without meter this is probably unsafe if they manage to guard it. Finally, even if you're a bit slow with the second jHS, honestly Alicephia's jHS is freaking huge. I wouldn't be surprised if you catch some people with it even if they do have the chance to get out of guardstun and crouch. Footnotes: It appears that WanWan gives a generous 10-12 frame buffer window for hitting inputs early, based on this data. By "guard chain" I mean the opponent is hit again while still in guard stun. Do note that this number does include hitstop, though, and is therefore not an accurate indication of the actual guardstun duration.

I have it running on Win7 64bit just fine ... only thing that might be different is that I (might) have my system set to Japanese, rather than English. I know that helps with some games. You might be able to try Applocale if you want to just run the game itself in Japanese. Lunaport r49b works just fine with 0.55 test version. For Alicephia's j.HS - I don't see anything about this on the wiki (to be fair, only skimmed the page), and I kinda doubt the move is fast enough to be used like you describe. I could be wrong, though. If needed, I can set up a test with modified replays.

The obvious solution is to have a first-to-10 against your dentist (in GG, of course!). If you win, your appointment is free. If you lose, you get teeth drilled. -
Yeah, noticed the lack of BRKs. Also, she seems to have no high jump. Might be intentional, though. Also noticed that 236236HS is awesome damage. Hitconfirm it for 50% on Ryuza. I went ahead and created a page for her on the poverty wiki, and added in movelist info. Also, O color is mine. (PS - Hell's Rain doesn't seem all that different, tbh. Guess the nerf was less than I was expecting.) EDIT: Already found a full-kill combo vs. Aiwhen. Yay? Also, one more interesting fact: 4S gives you her close S at any range.

OSHI~! Downloading now. I'll see if I can get some info up on our new character (Fride, right? Probably spelled differently in game, but I'll get to that later ...) up on the wiki. ... dammit!

Hit buttons. Fear nothing. There, now you know how to play Sol. ... okay fine, I'll see if I can help you out for real. Just be warned that I'm not the best mentor in the world. This sounds about right. M'eh. Maybe when they make a new game that is actually based off one of the good Contra games (Contra, SuperC, Contra 3, Contra 4), I'll be interested. Contra Hard Corps was, in all honesty, a shitpile which had no balance between stages and boss fights. It was a fun time. It was mainly GG, but he also gave Inuyasha a quick try. And I showed him my combo videos. Assuming I don't "bleh I'm dead" from work, I'll probably grab a quick byte to eat before heading over, so I won't be there until maybe 7-ish. EDIT: I'm not driving you to/from New Hampshire. -

I intend to be at PWA this Tuesday, but I make no promises. I have work (just like most weekdays ), but it's not far so I should be able to stop by for some time as long as work doesn't leave me feeling slightly dead. -
Actually, it was closer to a month and a half. ... we haven't even played Worms recently. And yes, more WanWan is necessary. ... on that note, I should probably hit up the IRC sometime. I dunno. I think Alicephia might take effort. And we all know how much you take to putting forth effort. (Not to say I'm any different >__> )

GGs at the last BG meetup. Unfortunate they have to close. Just did some math out of stupid curiosity: Going on the dates of the first and last meetups alone, there were 67 Fight Nights. Assuming I had a 90% attendance rate, and of those times I gave Tales a ride 90% of the time (both ways), simply driving to and from BG Fight Nights has put about 15240 miles on my car. Also, one last time for the proverbial road: -

Shoutouts to Fraga's glorious return to BG! Also completely random shoutout to BlueNine for just happening to be on the road at the same time as I was heading back through the Hadley/Amherst area. -
Let's not exaggerate too much, Tales. That only happens if your opponent is Aiwhen, or if you have full meter and manage the fullkill combo on the three or so characters it works on (and it needs a CH too, if I remember correctly). Sabe normally needs at least two combos (three if the opponent actually manages to use a burst properly to escape). But yeah, long story short, Sabe is pretty straightforward and heavy-hitting. Personally, I prefer sticking to full screen mixups and other such silliness with Lunathia.

Punishment Arcana has a catch super (214214E). Also has a special that clashes things well (214E), if that's close enough. Frankly, I don't see the problem with Totsugeki. Took me all of like five minutes to figure out how to deal with it. -

AH3 is tons faster than 1. Game plays faster in general, and they tweaked the mechanics around a bit (free neutral homing, extend force) to speed things up further. Still not as fast as GG of MB, but it's way up there now. Good to see you're doing well Fraga. You'd best get on that Clarice mad fast - after our 160 or so games of AH3 last night Tales decided he's going to be playing her too. ... fucking 4C. -

If you decide to go, call me and we can plan to carpool. That would be unfortunate. Can't really say how NCSX does with late preorders, since I generally order stuff soon after it's first available. Hopefully you guys'll have some luck and it'll still get shipped soon. -

NCSX shipped today for me. Down side is I only paid for the dirt cheap shipping, and UPS is apparently afraid of snow (fucking wusses) so I probably won't see my copy of AH3 until Monday. Also can't go to Furok's on Saturday due to family stuff. Will be at BG tomorrow, though. -

Aha! Mindgame reveals the secret to his skill! Theory-fighting at the dentist's office ... nobody would have thought of that! ... Also fyi I'll be at Furok's tomorrow (barring anything stupid) since I don't have work this week. -

Hey guys. Who's thinking of going next week. It's Christmas Eve, so I don't know if anyone will be. Tales said he'd go if there are people, too. (Unfortunately, Denny's is closing the night of the 24th, so that won't be an option ) Also, while playing GG this week against Tales's , I somehow managed to Grand Viper through Fuujin. As in, go right past him and switch sides. I'm not even sure what's going on anymore. -

While I hate to disapoint, I'm gonna have to say that's pretty much impossible. I already know work is going to be all sorts of hell this week, so I'm gonna be pretty much dead tired come Friday . Furthermore, I doubt they'd even let me take off Monday, which I'd need to simply get all my shit back together for the next week. A one-night trip to CT is always possible; a full weekend in PA not so much. So, my apologies, but I'm not gonna be there. That's what I say every time you don't come to BG. -

So, GGs to Lazy, Why, and Tales at BG. And a question - who's gonna be there next week? I know Fraga's probably not due to schoolwork, Tales and Why are going to NEC* ... I'll still head down if there's a few people that are gonna be there, but as much as I like the BG meetups there's no point in going if it's gonna be deserted. * I'm not going because 1) work is being a bitch and asking extra time of me, 2) I hate traveling long distances**, 3) I don't have much time-off left for the year (and I need to take at least a day if I'm gonna be gone the entire weekend.) ** (says the guy who drives 2-3 hours each way nearly every Friday just to play video games for a few hours )
