I got some basic stuff down so far. I was trying pickups after 214Bx3 only for a little, timing seems tough yeah but gonna grind it out this evening and see what the issue is.

Another Potemkin tip. On safejump j.S > OS dash 5K oki, I forgot to try punishing reversal Heavenly Potemkin Buster until today. I had a Potemkin doing that on me at UFGT after I WT his Giganter attempt. Figured out after the Heavenly super flash you can do backwards hj.P > j.H(1) > SW > continue with a SW loop. Pretty nice, so basically safejump dash 5K OS oki makes Potemkin have to block.

That part of VA that no one cares about (Western/Southwestern VA thread?)

This is this weekend by the way https://www.facebook.com/events/1447509115501053/ -
I can't get to SOVA very often but it's cool there's a facebook group now. Always happy to see more ASW game communities growing in VA.

I'll aim for 2:30 or so, bringing bro with me too. Pat are you able to make it to run the tourney? If not I can start sign ups once we get some setups going like last time and run it after a bit of casuals
-
I'll be there for GG, UNIEL, and day 1 P4U2(???)
-
So apparently I don't have to work tomorrow, I'll be at the monthly after all
-
Not that I know of yet, but I'm a fan of character centered Skype groups too. They could easily be started/handled in each character's thread I imagine.

Here's these older combo vids too, 2 parts: Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKF5r0R98j0 Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqta5vlLP5Q

Did you happen to notice if all the hits hit overhead or not?Since you can cancel any hit, wondering how effective stuff like j.A(2) > j.B(land cancel) > low/throw or similar stuff would be.

Super excited to play Ken. Koromaru seems more like an assist than shadow/doll like Zato/Carl. Some combos people were doing on EVO stream reminded me a bit of SBX. Looking forward to some info getting filled out in here. I know some people graciously took lots of notes at EVO. On Shadow Ken, he does have SB Mediarama, so I could see there being ways to heal a ton of health after going into Shadow Burst. I guess his worth also depends on how well regular Ken can make use of OMB, can't really picture anything yet though. Did anyone figure out or see any decent combos off his throw midscreen? Definitely looks like he can do something off it. Maybe 5C > 236A/B/A+B > stuff?

Me! can't wait I can't make it to the monthly this weekend btw

Closest scene for you is probably Richmond. As far as I know there are more GG players there, but there are some BB as well. If you have Facebook, this is the group to ask around in https://www.facebook.com/groups/VCUFightClub/ They have gatherings Friday nights at VCU typically, or any others that come up during the week. -
It's definitely better than ever in Xrd. You'll see it more for sure. A few posts up you can see what myself and Final Ultima recently posted about its potential use and specifics. I've started gathering noteworthy timestamps from youtube match videos at the bottom of the first post. They'll serve as quick references for whatever someone might be wondering about. And might be useful for demonstrating stuff in the 101 thread, answering future questions, optimizing combos, matchup threads, etc. If anyone is watching vids and sees something they think is worth noting and might fit into one of the categories (or warrant a new one), go ahead and share a link. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8266-xrd-sol-badguy-gameplay-discussion/?p=770745 I've been going through the posts in this thread and adding links people have shared already, I'm about halfway at the moment.

To add to BladeOfJustice7's post, The wiki is a good place to start if you haven't looked it over yet: http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Sol_Badguy_(GGACR)It has a good overview of his moves and strategies. Also some useful tutorial videos are linked in it. These videos are most important for basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXxyzS1o_XQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhzR6rlPP8M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lyl-gavEn0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1KlHSzn1D8 I've put up lots more on my channel that are worth checking out at some point, all in this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDNPEhQzFdxjV8T9F_C2RySh6SOI5F87s Check out this video, near the beginning it explains how to CL GV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-N6XKcyKcA He doesn't have any that are that bad. In general he has most trouble on people that can zone him out really well. It's nothing he can't handle though. If you're having trouble with a certain match, you can ask about it in here or in match up threads and people will be glad to help. It's not good. The rewards are very rarely worth the risks.Only time I see it being useful at all in +R is if you need a big comeback. But even then there's so much that can go wrong it's generally a bad idea. There are much better uses for meter, like GF(FRC) and VV(RC). Feel free to ask anything else we're glad to answer any questions. If you have skype, you should join the Guilty Gear Skype group, people use it for match making in +R netplay a lot. Just let me know if you'd like in and I can invite. There's also a Sol skype group with a couple Sol players of varying experience levels who are happy to help too if interested. If you're in Boston they probably have a couple GG players. If you're able to get to gatherings you could try asking in match finder. Yeah TrollBadguy is a great Sol player you could learn a lot from, but he hasn't been able to be as active with GG lately as far as I know.

Thanks for the info. In one of the clips I saw Koromaru do an EX version of the flying wheel thing, so probably has EX of ground spin too.
-
Ken questions: What does his ground throw do? Any way to combo after? On CH? Same question for his airthrow. What normals are jump cancelable on hit/block?
-
I know you mentioned instant j.B might be able to hit crouchers, I'm curious if that's the case and what possibilities for combos would follow. Maybe you already got that down to test though. Thanks again for the info on Ken and looking forward to more. On that note is j.B jump cancelable? is j.A? what do j.C and j.D do, same Koroamaru attacks as if you were grounded?

The question of how to deal with Axl stance attacks came up recently, and I happened to come across this today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wav_eppzYVM&t=3m27s Sol appears to punish the low chain on block with a CH 2P. We don't know if it only punished because Axl attempted to cancel to another chain, but it certainly punishes fast so I wouldn't be surprised if it's guaranteed. It's also a normal block so whatever Axl did left him at at least -5. That means on IB you might even be able to CH 2D for a full screen knockdown.

Getting familiar with some combos can't hurt, they may feel slightly different timing in Xrd though. but the generic dustloops in +R will work in Xrd. Example dustloop: corner 5K > 6P > 2H/5H > rising j.D > falling j.D > (dash) j.D > falling j.D > dash j.K/j.S > j.D > dj.S > j.D > VV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8yKWdf5nQQ The key is getting the rising j.D out as soon as possible as you begin your jump, and the falling j.D soon before landing. If the falling j.D doesn't come out you pressed the button too early, if it comes out but doesn't combo you did it too late. If you want you can choose to end it after that first rep. Also the 2nd rep won't work on light weight characters (Baiken, Bridget, Jam, Kliff) so keep that in mind while practicing it. That same combo will work from an airdash j.S > j.D starter. From airdash j.P > j.S > j.D you need to end after 1 rep. In Xrd it's common to do Fafnir > dash 6P > 2H/5H > j.D > Kudakero > (6P) BR after the first rep (after the first falling j.D) WT will bounce the opponent closer to you than in +R. In +R you can practice simple midscreen WT combos that will work in Xrd, such as: WT > (dash) 2H > j.S > dj.S > j.H > VV VV(RC) combos that will work in Xrd: midscreen VV(1st hit RC) > dash 5K/c.S > 2H > j.S > dj.S > j.H > VV corner VV(1st hit RC) > 2H > 2 rep dustloop (first combo I posted) approaching corner 2D > BR(RC) > j.D > land 2H > 1 rep dustloop will work in Xrd. Basically, most combos not involving Clean Hit GV and SW stuff will be doable in Xrd. If you have any questions, ask away.
