  1. Read our work process in the campaign FAQ. The main time sinks are creating scenarios and recording them via an HD capture device, and video editing. Our offer still stands even if the campaign fails:
  2. We ARE looking to please both crowds, just not at the same time. A new player should understand SOME things when he starts out, and the rest as he improves and watches again. We are intending to try to teach as much as we can within the limits of an accessible format and relatively short videos. Again, the main target audience are newcomers to the game, but we want them to be able to learn as much as possible from a single source before they are forced to move on. Now, regarding the people who disagree with the very existence of this project- Please do some thinking about how much of your objection to it is emotional and how much is logical. The emotion says: "It feels like it should be done for free, since the standard on the internet is free and our community is based on free contributions". And that is completely correct! I fully agree that this is a great ideal to live by. But let's look at some additional facts: Fact #1: Some people out there would like to watch video tutorials for every character, and in general, video content that helps learning fighting games. If you need obvious proof- I had 2000 subs when I made random stuff, and a few weeks from now I'll be way past 6000. So there's demand for the final result. Our problem is how do we get there? Fact #2: I suggested 1 practical solution to make this type of thing (26 polished videos in half a year) happen. You may not like it, but it's a practical solution nonetheless. Fact #3: Nobody ever suggested an alternative practical solution. All the responses are about how much people like or dislike the only practical solution suggested so far. That's fine, you were heard loud and clear. But what now? Fact #4: Even if you come up with a suggestion for a free practical solution, you need to provide a satisfying explanation why it was never ever done until now, despite being free and practical. Why nobody else went and did what we did once and now are trying to do again, but bigger, better, and faster? You can't volunteer hypothetical people. We need names of real people, and enough of them, that are committed enough to work together to create this kind of project on their free time. Fact #5: Until that happens, the options we have are either "Enough people make the sacrifice of donating $5 to the cause, and then this thing gets made" or "Nothing of this scale gets made ever". If you don't like my practical solution that's fine, but at least give an alternative that's easier and more practical than paying 5$. Throwing insults is really easy, but providing an actual plan and executing it successfully is hard. Edit: If people show up and commit to making 26 character guides, we are closing the campaign. Tuka says he'll be giving you all the assets he made in photoshop for BlazBits, and I'll make an appealing opening sequence to the best of my ability. I haven't spoken to specs but maybe he'll be willing to narrate if you'd like him to. You want it free? We'll do our equal part and do it in the best way possible. Now the ball is in your court.
  3. Question 5 of the FAQ in the campaign page. We'll be making the best possible ~10 minutes you can have. A 1 hour tutorial for 26 characters is not practical. If you can somehow organize 26 people to do 26 1 hour tutorials, BlazBits would only complement them, not clash with them. Question 3 of the FAQ in the campaign page.
  4. It was mostly MY free time. I dedicated a year's worth of free time to make the series. That was basically a second job with no pay, for a year. Just the fact that I gave the community Guilty Bits for free does not mean that its value is 0$. Anyone who think the series' value is 0$ can prove it by doing something similar (a year's worth of free time) himself for free. But I can't afford to do a similar project in the same manner. That was a one time thing. I may phrased it wrong. What I meant to say is that most people either realized what the sentence meant considering the video demonstrated it, or didn't think this small thing makes the whole project useless. If you think the work I put in is not even worth minimum wage, then this project isn't for you. re: Airdash Academy. When have I ever said it's for beginners? The videos on my channel are not for beginners and never were. Beginner content is easily available on the internet, and my goal is to fill the VOID. Guilty Bits explained characters to people who know fighting games, but not Guilty Gear specifically. BlazBits is going to be the same. I'm can refer people to system guides, and explanations of common terms, but I'm not going to cover them in my videos, as it would be a complete waste of time on my part. You don't need ME to tell people what a mid hit is all over again. I'm going to focus on what *I* can give people, what the internet is currently missing as far as video content, or content in general, goes. AA is not for beginners as well, so your brother isn't the target crowd. It's not going to explain the mechanics (which you can easily find in any system guide on the internet) but the IMPLICATIONS of them. AA is going to connect the dots together and show people the bigger picture. I'll be name dropping, without giving the whole story behind every name, because that is not relevant to the content. You are free to google "Seth Killian" and "Domination 101" and explore for yourself, but I mentioned them as credits for the phrase I took, and that phrase is all you need to take from there in order to understand the episode. Not much different from how a scientific research paper looks like, when quoting from other papers. And this is going to be a special tutorial, even in structure and approach. Some of the content is going to be vague at first, but the series is made to be built up slowly. The episodes will end up being parts of a bigger whole.(regarding the intro and episodes 4+) tl;dr: Watch the first part of the series in full, which means the first 8 or 9 episodes, and then decide what you want to say about it. In the meanwhile, please be patient.
  5. There are a lot of things to answer to so I'll do it in small doses if you don't mind. It's not "the same". Making 1 or 2 videos is a totally different beast than committing to 26. People do small projects all the time, but how many commit to projects at the scale this requires? And the people involved are getting minimum wage for it. (Look at the FAQ) There is simply no way to cheapen the cost while keeping the quality. So this type of content is not even worth minimum wage in your opinion? I'd say the market has spoken- Almost no one is willing to do it for free, then it means it's worth SOMETHING. Actions speak louder than words. And while doing a stream for 40 minutes may be very cheap to produce, I think it's missing some things that makes the format I'm going with appealing. This may not be true for the hardest of hardcores on the forums, people who can do just fine with textual information, but clearly there are people out there who the type of thing I'm offering. 10 minutes is not a hard limit. Some characters can have 9 and some 12. And while it may seem unintuitive, this is where I'm going to surprise you. And not only that- I'm going to put my own free time on the line. I'm not going to compromise on what I see as "vital", and if an episode ends up being "too long", I'm not going to compromise on the content and will work those extra editing hours for free, out of the budget's scope.
  6. You should play the game because you find it interesting and fun, not to get respect from other people. You should go to those events but not to "make some noise"- Go to play and meet people and learn.
  7. We've been doing this for a year now and we've already encountered any possible problem that could happen with as far as the scripts go. If we decide that it's necessary, we'll put the finalized version of the script on the forum for people to look at before producing the video. But the thing that will be judged will be the information itself, not the name of the player/s behind it. Again, we already know the challenges well, which is why we calculated the budget for up to 3 experts per character.
  8. We can't "book" people months in advance, so it's not possible to have that information at this point. We'll do exactly as we did last time, calling for suitable people who want to help, and add more as needed. The community has plenty of capable people, and our work process and peer review is making sure that everything is checked and checked again by multiple people before being finalized.
  9. The whole sentence is "tight chain which is risky to try get out of" and not "tight chain which is impossible to try get out of". Should we replaced the word "tight" with "pretty tight" since the only thing you can really do is to commit to an invincible move that advances forward? Maybe. We are always open to improvements, and all those tiny improvements from 99.5% to 100% are a part of the reason we need more experts per character, more peer review and more time to work on each script. But the example shown on the screen shows the situation accurately, so trying to use this as an example to how we don't understand the game is really pushing it... It doesn't "imply" anything. This is a merely fraction of a real episode. A full episode would also include other normals that do need to be used at closer ranges, and we were referring to 5C->3C ON HIT. We mentioned 5 seconds later that ON BLOCK the safest option is jump canceling. 2C tends to whiff in most situations, and 5C->2C has a 1 frame gap in between. We don't have time to show every combo twice, once for damage and once for okizeme, so we show the commonly used one. The 2nd stretch goal would provide the alternatives, if people want them, but combos are not a main focus in the series. And in any case we could probably improve the text by adding the word "or" in the sentence.
  10. I'll try to answer the responses the best I can. The experts are carefully handpicked from this forum, and the peer review process does wonders to polish the content, which is what we learned while making Guilty Bits. Every crowdfunding project is about trust, and hopefully we've earned the trust of enough people who like what we have accomplished so far. If you can't trust the team nor your fellow players on the forums, then simply don't donate, and move on. I'm taking the dry info and put it into words in the best way possible, basically allowing the character experts to accurately express what they want to express. As I said, judge me by my videos. We have already made a 3 minute video example covering Jin's 5C, and I'd like you to tell me what is wrong with it. Thousands of people watched it already, and I haven't heard a single complaint about it yet. I assure you the experts are going to work hard for that money. "Tidbits of information" is far from it. There's a phrase which I like by George Herbert, that the best revenge is living well. I used to spend way too much energy on being angry about things I don't like and people I don't like. Now I'm working on taking all that negative energy and converting it into positive energy i.e. motivation for work, creation and self improvement. It's not an easy process but it's the only way to make sure things will get done. You said you were planning to make P4U2 tutorials with the help of several other players for the benefit of the community and IMO that's a worthy reason to put all internet drama aside and focus on productiveness. I wish you good luck with that.
  11. I was really, really salty after a tournament loss and that tweet was 2 years ago. I could have smashed my arcade stick on the floor instead like the FGC standard seems to be nowadays but that HRAP3 SA cost me a ton of money to import... But regardless, I'm glad you raised the question of what I think about BB as a player. Like any fighting game, BB has some things that I like and other things that I don't like, regarding both its mechanics and its aesthetics, but after several years -- and after the reveal of +R calmed the whole bitter/frustrated GG playerbase down, myself included -- I've learned to accept BB for what it is, and after barely touching CS2 and completely abandoning during CSEX, I decided to give BB a fresh start, and came back for CP with a new main character on the very first day the console version came out in Asia. In GG, I dislike 2 frame FRCs but that has not prevented me from making a good FRC tutorial that helps players make them as easy as possible. And in the same manner, my dislikes for specific aspects of BB will not prevent me from putting out the best tutorials possible. That is what being professional is all about. I keep my personal preferences as a player out of the way, as my goal is to make the best guide possible period. Life is not black and white, and everyone is allowed to be somewhere between the 2 extremes of "it's perfect" and "it's total shit". If you expect me to be a totally devoted fanboy of something, that would make me a WORSE content editor, not a BETTER one. All I ask of you is to judge me by the quality and effort I put into my work right now, and not by tweets of frustration from 2 years ago.
  12. Thank you. Any help is appreciated I plugged Dustloop, Meltybread and Homingcancel at the opening of Airdash Academy. I intend on plugging it in the opening of of BlazBits as well.
  13. Opening post updated with the first episode!
  14. This is ideal talk. It requires 26 people who not only know their characters, but also have the will to do it, know how to do it well, and have the equipment (HD capture equipment, etc.) to do it. In reality such a case never happens. If it would be this simple you'd be seeing it done on the internet already. You may see 1 or 2 character tutorials that won't even get the attention they deserve, and that's pretty much it. If you want better results you need to think in bigger terms, and make bigger sacrifices.
  15. A FAQ section has been added to the campaign page. Please read it first and only then read my answers here. With that said: 1. That is your personal opinion, but most people do appreciate the aesthetics, the narration etc. 2. The aesthetics are only a small part of the budget. The vast majority of it (~85%) goes on the content itself. Writing the script, recording, and editing the video timeline+text etc. So even if I made the videos like the example, considering that the content is still supposed to be 10 minutes X 26 episodes, the budget needed won't be that much different. And if I'm doing it, I'd rather go the extra mile and make something fancy that will attract more people. This is exactly the reason that want to work full time and get it all done ASAP. The problem you describe is meant to be SOLVED with the funding. And think about it this way: On your side it's just 1 dollar, or 5, or whatever you want to donate. It's not "wasted money" because each person paid several dollars to get this content. But let me make this clearer- Video content is NOT for the people who's 2nd home is dustloop. It's NOT for the people who feel comfortable learning from the flow of textual information in a forum. From that practical standpoint video content need not exist. Too costly in time and effort. But there are many people who prefer learning from videos rather than dwelling in a forum. So even if you aren't interested in this, they are.
  16. We've mentioned overall 4 times that the first video will be up on March 20. The link is there so that people would know where to find it, once it gets filled with plenty of episodes. And it will, during this month.
  17. Our BlazBits campaign has officially started! Please help us by spreading the word! http://igg.me/at/blazbits Also feel free to ask any questions here.
  18. There's no "final" in video games. If the game makes money they'll make a P2 Grand Prix or some bullshit that continues the story.
  19. This is false. Guts level don't change during a single hit, but they do mid-combos! (In P4A they don't change mid-combo.)
  20. They need to change the wrong description in that thread then. Edit: Upon further testing- "Original" damage can still apply when going from one guts level to the next, but only for the single hit which crosses the border. So a move like Potemkin buster or Dead on Time for example uses this well but not a combo, where each single hit doesn't do much on its own.
  21. When you do a combo the game gives you a specific number in terms of damage. So I tested a combo once inside a guts category, and another time where during the combo it switches to the next category. So the damage for each hit was for example: 7 7 7 8 6 And then near the border between the categories: 7 7|6 7 5 ---^ guts level changed here So the guts took effect in the middle of the combo, right when the lifebar passed from one level to the next. If guts only took effect AFTER the combo ends, the combo would still be doing 7 7 7 8 6.
  22. If it's Xrd you are talking about, then show me proof. If it's GG in general, then no and I've checked it myself in +R to be sure. Guts levels raise even DURING combos, between the hits of the combo.
  23. Yes I think that is the case. https://twitter.com/novriltataki/status/437039763808206848
  24. Because the lifebars are lying to you.
  25. It's over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYssPNLHp_Y
