[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Clousephinat replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
I'm not saying EX characters are "important", obviously, as long as they still remain as illegal characters there's nothing more than just playing with them against some friend if anything, or go play #R Online (with better connection than AC/+R after all). I said this because in #R there was some characters lacking efficiency like Bridget without 421HS, and if you put him in EX, he's good enough against a normal character since at least he can do the rest of the yo-yo's specials in the air. But of course, is not like Bridget in #R in his normal version is unable to beat good Eddies or Badguys, as well as I-No in Xrd. But if by any chance this would happen, I don't see much of a problem with them becoming legal characters, at least against other EX characters as well. -

There's no need for that, but if X track that you are listening in X game is significantly different in another game of the same series, then yes. If it's just some arrangement that doesn't appear in those games or they are already there, is not necessary. -

Done, it would have been better though to put the characters theme separately for each game. For example, the original version of Awe of She in X is better than the later ones, at least for me. -

I've played with a few players in #R Online with EX characters, and they are definitely not broken, some characters in EX are probably even "worse" than their normal versions, while others are indeed much better. Adding the EX characters helped to this purpose since #R was not really well balanced, and from what I've seen (and also read from other players playing the game) I doubt Xrd will be more balanced than +R, honestly. -
But STBT HS last longer than that I think, unless now is a little more fast like Dive HS (about the same as +R though). This reminds me that you can actually do 6P>STBT HS>stuff in EX Mode, it would have been cool but unfortunately is not something that the normal I-No can do.

That's really interesting... I though that Burst Blue worked against I-No even if she's doing STBT, something new I guess?

That's just the original release, Overture didn't have English voices in Japan as well as many other games. -
I've seen Bedman players losing a good amount of health though... The amount of damage before guts in Xrd must be like in #R if anything then.

Whoever is going to dub I-No, I hope it can be at this level, at the very least. And, dunno if this was different in the first version, but in #R I-No was still really good even without VCL and the ability to jump and air dash during hover dash. Since stagger effect was not that easy to break, I think it's safe to say you can do STBT>HCL/STBT>6P>5S>HCL,STBT>Longing Desesperation/STBT>6P>5S>Longing Desesperation (although this last doesn't work in midscreen against some opponents) without any problem at all, j.HS was more difficult to use in hover dash, but builds quite well the guard gauge as well as 5HS and 6HS, and it was really easy to do some combos with Dives there. -
Much obliged, LOW is indeed good, I like how he used Task C after the boomaerang seal and then he used it to be behind Sol and punish him with another Task C. Yeah, I'm sure Venom is going to be in fact the worst enemy of Bedman, his balls can easily keep Bedman in the corner and that's one of the main problems you get for being big, he can easily punish I-No's players like myself as well since hover dash makes it easier to be beaten and makes you realize that life is hard. I've seen Mitsuru doing the Nightmare overdrive as well, I guess it's more good than the other overdrive at least since you can't combo it, going to abuse of YRC quite a lot with him. EDIT: Oh, and by the way... I remember reading somewhere that Bedman has the same defense level than Potemkin, is this really so? It doesn't seem to be the case at least.

I'm going to work much harder and watch more stuff with Bedman, I kinda like it already in the beggining, but then after sometime you realize that about the 95% of footage I've watched it was only I-No's footage... Tehe. I'm pretty sure I have watched playing LOX as well but I don't remember when, I really have some catching up to do.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

Why? You're completely wrong if you think so. Ramlethal has awesome normals compared to Bridget, but Bridget can attack from afar unlike her, and Bedman can do so as well. Bedman has in fact I think the same input as Bridget with 2D, causing oki to the opponent and it has chance to lead with Task B like Bridget with 236K>K if they are close to the opponent, and like Bridget players and most Bedman players use this if not like that, as an opportunity to call seal/yo-yo while the opponent is in oki. Ramlethal is broken in the corner, Bridget can be really good no matter if the opponent is in the corner or not, as well as Bedman (though if you use ground throw in the corner you can lead to combo without need of RRC), both are of the same gameplay style of blocking and then wait for a chance to counterattack, Bridget with the yo-yo and Roger, and Bedman with his Nightmare overdrive as well as other tools. If you are a good player of course, Bedman's pressure has any reason to envy Bridget's calls with Roger, and unlike Ramlethal's swords which can be stopped if she's blocking. Bedman's head boomerang is like calling the yo-yo (obviously, even if I say so myself) with Bridget, except for the fact he can't stop the boomerang and call it again, but if I remember well, head boomerang can still hit the opponent while Bedman is blocking unlike calling the yo-yo, but this doesn't happen after calling Roger and of course, both are good tools to lead with combo. Another thing are the overdrives options, both Ramlethal overdrives seems really good even if it fails, Bedman's Nightmare has a low chance to success, as well as the alarm overdrive since it has little range. Bridget 632146S can be reaaaally bad, is in fact the worst overdrive in GG probably, yeah, if you are good you can FRC, but it's nothing compared to Ultimate Fortissimo and many other overdrives. The other two overdrives are the best tools of Bridget, but doing yo-yo>632146HS can be risky though it's really good to lead into air combos, and 4123641236S is only really good if the opponent is already in the air, of course. -

Yeah, I guess it must be the same fucking god ever seen with him. But I'm surprised he didn't choose Bedman since he's the character that's most similar with Bridget in Xrd. -

Not even a fan of Kedako? I don't know much about May players, but he's one of the best May players so far as I can remember. -
I didn't know Mitsuru until now and I must say, he's REALLY good with Bedman, he doesn't even need the support of the seals at all to make good punishments. Sigh... Almost no one takes Bedman seriously, I'm the only person who really sees great potential with this character?

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

I thought U-zen is really good as well (and he was already a good I-No in +R), using Faultless Defense to confuse Sol players, let them do Volcanic Viper, and then "hahaha, baaakaaa!". In fact, it's fun to see how we always thought and is true that Sol players have a slight advantage against I-No players, but on the other hand we can see U-Zen kicking Sol players without much effort, compared to other characters more "weak" like May (and she's really good in this game, nonetheless). I must say I'm quite ashamed as well, because at first I thought the new command throw was completely useless and having the air throw without chance to follow into a combo anymore (even if it's a MC) unless you do RRC, but now I see is in fact the only really good thing with her now. -
Yeah, I really hope we know something about the PWAB in the Console release, because at first I was really like "WTF? Don't tell me that the PWAB are those people?!", and didn't Daisuke confirmed in one of his interviews that Xrd is going to cover most of the questions regarding the GG universe? I hope so then, I remember how he said before the release of Overture that he was planning to maybe let know the fans the identity of That Man already, and of course this hasn't happened yet. And I think that the PWAB hiring the Assassin's Guild was confirmed in AC+ as well but I'm not sure, I'll have to check it out.

A few corrections. While it's true that the Senato have joined forces with Ramlethal, the Senate and "Mother" are being manipulated among themselves in order to achieve a desirable goal of each one, so it's just a temporal alliance, we don't even know if the Senato really wanted this to happen if they haven't joined forces with her, but we know for sure that everything is going according to "Mother's" objective, at least for now. Not exactly, first of all, I-No is from the future, she was born in that timeline to begin with. And Axl has already been in many ages before Xrd, including that gray future. Yes, I have already said this several times, and I can only picture three candidates that we know so far: 1- Dizzy: In Xrd's Prequel, Dr Paradigm says that the decoding incantation is almost finished but until then, he can't break the seal of his wife yet. In Sol's Arcade Mode, he says that he has something to discuss with him, AND bring Sin with him. We don't know the time passed between the prequel and the actual game, but according to the prequel Dizzy smiled when Ky gazes at her, maybe suggesting that short time for her to be saved. 2- Sharon: She's the wife of Slayer and not a normal being, that's for sure. Like his husband, it wouldn't be surprising that she has a lot of information on what's going on, though she seems to be always with his lover, in #R plot Slayer already helped Ky, it could be that Slayer send his wife to tell him something? 3- Libraria: Yeah, the member of the Senate. We don't know anything about her, but according to the Arcade Mode, she seems a little hesitant towards achieving the Senate's goal unlike the rest of them. Sol already knew there are more Valentines, he only says that the Cradle seems to have been activated by another Valentine, not Ram-chan. Not exactly, it was the PWAB that hired the Assassin's Guild to that purpose, and the PWAB were probably hired by the Senate as well, so... Senate (Chronus)>PWAB (????)>Assassin's Guild (Zato) On the contrary, she's really happy that she can finally shoot fireworks to this worthless world, and when she sees Sol being even more powerful than the last time, she doesn't seem to be concerned about that, furthermore even saying things can maybe be interesting now. And Axl is supposed to have return to the canon timeline since I-No says she's going to send him in the Integrate Point. What makes you thing so? I-No knows the Original Man, but that doesn't mean that That Man knows him. The only thing sure is that Original Man knows the Gearmaker, but this could just be like when I-No knew That Man before find him, and back then he didn't know I-No. Again, I-No is a time traveler, it's perfectly normal for her to know something that even people like That Man and Slayer wouldn't know. Doing so in the past? When? I-No doesn't even say "he couldn't", maybe the Original Man could have contacted with That Man long before, but he wasn't interested in doing so until now, until Bedman appears.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

Koichi started playing with I-No in Slash though, being the old version that best resembles her in Xrd, so I don't think that's the problem. When I saw him playing with yellow I-No, I felt like I-No not being able to do good combos in midscreen anymore was something that really annoyed him, and since he was really good at it, I'm sure not 6FRC6 HCL anymore was for him a curse rather than a blessing, and for skilled players like him I understand that, I understand him. I must admit that both HCL and VCL having lost quite range seems really annoying, characters like Ky and Ramlethal can place seals now without fear of "wait! I must be careful or I'll be beaten by HCL...", stagger effect seems even more easy to break than in AC, so STBT has lost it's purpose, and like I said in the Gameplay topic, it doesn't seem rewarding anymore even if it's counted as a counter. And she's the only character with a percentage about 1% of being able to hit a human with Dust (seriously, why ASW have made Dusts to sparkle? Is the only thing I don't like in Xrd so far), unless you do STBT>RRC (although seeing what I've seen, maybe it could be avoided even so), and 5S it's the only thing that remains like it was in #R, which now that 6P>5HS it works almost always, again another tool having lost it's purpose. -

As suspected, Koichi didn't like I-No after all and now have switched with Millia again... My heart is crying. Though, I still see quite a few of I-No players in this game compared to the previous ones. -
I think it's quite risky though, if anything, the best option would be just waiting for the opponent to recover and then do the new air throw, but if they don't recover, Dive P could actually work maybe.

It's an old video but I haven't see it until now and it's quite good. [06/18/14] Batako (Ram) vs Turio (I-No) [Notes] Jourdal2012 Umm... I'll just edit the last post in the Gameplay topic for everyone's sake.

Bedman seals are like Ky and Ramlethal seals, as well as Bridget yo-yo, but Bedman can use a seal more than just one time, unlike Ky's seals. Although from what I've seen I think it depends on the seal, boomerang seal lasts less than the rest of the seals, it seems.

I can confirm that it misses against Axl (again) and Bedman (at first I was really surprised, since he's the big character after Pot), against Sol and Faust it works (again like in the previous games), but I'm not sure about the rest of characters, I think it's something like this: Works with: Sol, Faust, Ramlethal, May (yeah, I think I remember seeing it as well), Millia (less confident than with May, but I think it works with her too), Potemkin (... He's big), Chipp (same confidence as with Millia). Not working with: Ky (not sure, but since he has one of the most smallest hitboxes at least in the previous games...), ZATO=ONE (same as Ky), Axl (same as before), I-No, Bedman, Venom (I don't remember any player using 2D against him in the first place, so i'll just assume so, for now), Slayer (dunno, but something tells me she can't against him). I really don't know: Sin. I'll try to confirm it whenever I have the chance. I think it can be really important, since now STBT will be probably only really useful after 5P, and it doesn't seem like it has any benefits if it's counted as a counter as well (maybe 2S if anything, but I haven't see any player trying this). EDIT: So, it's about... The first time? We can actually see Dust I-No in the corner against a human being, also, just confirming we can actually do 6P>STBT>2S>HCL in this game as well (finally someone who knows this trick).
