  1. Came to say this, though replace "just" with "maybe." I'm also tired of seeing people treating rollback like it's a magical band-aid to fix online issues (it requires a good deal of fine-tuning for individual games to function correctly), and games like VF5:FS prove that you can have excellent netcode without rollback. When rollback doesn't work right it gets jumpy as hell, which I find worse to deal with than the usually consistent lag of ping-based netcode. It really all comes down to how well the code is implemented, regardless of whether or not it uses a gimmick.
  2. It says right there that UFO Eggman clearly wasn't meant to be fightable, it's just because of how the game handles model data that you can hack it to play as him. The UFO only shows up to create a clone character for mirror matches. Rocket Metal has his own nametag though, so I'd bet he was meant to be fought instead of or after regular Metal if you fulfilled some conditions. Maybe Eggman would have been fought on his own before jumping into a mech, which would have certainly looked even sillier than usual.
  3. It pretty much is Naruto Storm + Tekken, but seems considerably more refined than the Storm series.
  4. Heard through the grapevine that there will be a new Round1 arcade opening in MA sometime in 2016. There are already a few in other parts of the country, but I think they're mainly focused on Bemani...don't know whether they have many fighters.
  5. Metal Sonic wasn't originally playable without hacking, so I'm not surprised something like that would be left in. Still, good find. It looks like Rocket Metal Sonic (seen flying in space during the intro) was also going to be an opponent at one point in development, as well as multiple incarnations of Eggman.
  6. It's supposed to release this year, but they've clearly fallen behind on it, given that they just started writing the script a month ago.
  7. Yeah, I think Holly and me can declare victory in this argument now. This is my last post until I actually have something new to comment regarding the game itself.
  8. Then don't ever play Blazblue, since it has characters like Litchi, Taokaka, Bullet and Mu. I'm sure it would be a very triggering and traumatic experience for you, what with all the boobie jokes in story mode. Oh wait, you're currently running a tumblr ask blog that's the BB equivalent of Blade's Gear Project, and you have the series' primary sexualized waifu as your avatar. Hypocrisy much?
  9. Then play a different game instead of forcing your tastes onto this one. Don't know what else to tell you, "m8." You definitely seem like a white knight at this point, though it isn't helping you with the female user on this thread right now. Well, it was. A small minority desperate for outside approval, who takes the game too seriously.
  10. Then go play Virtua Fighter. Almost no sexual appeal to speak of, and I personally find it to be a better game. No, I don't want to hear your dumb rationalizations for why you're going to stick with a fighting game you obviously feel yourself to be at odds with. Translation: "I WANT the majority of players to be the minority, because my tastes matter more than everyone else's and everything has to cater to me."
  11. Especially when you consider that an unassuming cutesy girl like Hitomi is the canonical winner of the DOA5 tournament, and it's suggested she's a better fighter than the entire male cast (except for maybe Ryu and Raidou) in the storyline. I could go on.
  12. I think you need to take off your tumblr SJW tinfoil hat. Acting like Team Ninja started this evil conspiracy to sex up the series in DOA4 is ridiculous. You're ignoring that Xtreme already firmly established DOA's T&A eye candy as representative of the series, and that TN originally planned for 5 to be a lot more modest until the majority of their fanbase expressed disapproval. If you find the myriad "sexy" costumes and poses of the series repugnant, you are in the minority of players. It's only because of the boobs that DOA even survived to get a sequel and was able to overcome its initial image as just another 1990s Virtua Fighter clone, anyway. As was explained in the Reaxxion article, DOA is a silly, campy, and unrealistic series and that's a big part of the appeal. Expecting DOA to be "taken seriously" by the public as a professional sport, or for your parents to act proud of your tournament victories, is autistic manchild behavior of the highest order. You should play fighting games because they're fun and you personally enjoy them, not to score brownie points in the Cultural Recognition Olympics. It's fine if you don't like certain content in media (not just games), but whining for it to be changed just because it hurt your feelings or made you uncomfortable is stupid and reeks of entitled SJWism. There are other options out there, and if sexualization in 3D fighters bothers you that much, the Virtua Fighter scene is always wanting for more players.
  13. Never forget that Battletoads on Genesis was ported by ASW, though.
  14. I remember going to the (now long-defunct) local Blockbuster back in the day to ask if they had Sculptor's Cut. I was disappointed when they didn't. I really shouldn't have been.
  15. http://www.reaxxion.com/5908/manchildren-ban-sexy-outfits-from-doa-5-last-round-tournament All I can say to this is
  16. Yikes, sounds pretty lousy. I guess I shouldn't have much faith that they'll have cleaned it up to EXVS levels of polish for the full release. Mouse and keyboard, seriously? Did they go as far as to implement freelook aiming? I feel like this could have been a much more promising project if it wasn't freemium and it started with a console release, but I guess they're trying to court the MOBA kiddies, rather than the traditional fighting game crowd or overseas EXVS fans.
  17. So this game is out on Steam Early Access now, and it's following a freemium model with no package option. If you haven't heard of it before, it's EXVS in a superhero comic-inspired original universe with an all-new cast, made as a way of allowing Bamco to skirt past the Gundam license and use the EXVS engine in Western markets. I'm told it's been significantly improved since the original closed alpha, but it still can't hold a candle to EXVS. Unfortunately I don't have a PC that can run it, though there's talk of it ending up on PS4 eventually. Is there anyone here who's played it yet and has impressions to offer?
  18. Yeah, it's out and there don't seem to be any bugs or oversights this time. Had a few very smooth online matches. It took one messy start for Code Mystics to get their act together, I guess.
  19. Not until he gets added to the arcade release and accompanying smartphone app.
  20. I thought they'd at least have the dignity to leave Charlie dead 'cause that's been a significant plot point since Guile's ending in SFII, but of course this is Capcom we're talking about. Seems like the storyline in this one is gonna be MK levels of dorky, like when Liu Kang was brought back as a zombie after having been definitively killed in the opening of the previous game. I'm half expecting Sagat to show up with a glowing cyborg eye in place of his eyepatch.
  21. *groan* Should have known better than to get my hopes up with SNKP. There hasn't been any word on the netplay-enabled PSN release of Metal Slug 3 that was supposed to be out at the end of last year, either... It may at least be of interest to someone that the smartphone version of Garou will support Bluetooth controllers, so you're not doomed to use the touchscreen. Is this their first mobile port with that feature? Yes, SNKP apparently had a good relationship with Microsoft in the late Neo and early Atomiswave years, and they were one of the early supporters of Xbox Live multiplayer. Unfortunately, I don't own an OG Xbox and am very hesitant about buying one, because it recently came to light that tons of them have been getting bricked by timer circuit failures that take so many years to kick in. You can repair them, but it requires a full disassembly and it's a bitch to do. The DVD drives that MS used for the majority of production runs are notoriously flimsy too, something that carried over to the 360.
  22. Yeah thanks, I didn't see what the actual outcome of the poll was. It sucks that SNKP seems only willing to do Japanese PS2 Archives re-releases of their Atomiswave era fighters. KOF XI and SS Tenka are begging for netplay. I'm also interested in trying NeoWave, just because Young Geese still hasn't appeared in any other KOF. Unfortunately, it never got a US PS2 release since it came out back in the dark ages of Sony America's anti-2D policies.
  23. Side note that Garou has been announced for another re-release to...something. Most likely the 3 current Playstation platforms, since SNKP just had a poll about that a while ago. They could have ignored the poll and picked Garou simply because it already has a 360 port, though. I would have preferred Last Blade 2 or SamSho V Special, the latter of which has never received a port off the Neo to date. Both were options to vote on. Real Bout Special would have been cool too; it's the solidest non-reboot Fatal Fury and I haven't already played it to death like Garou.
  24. I stand corrected; I only heard about them a short while ago. Maybe they were only taken down because of the DDoSing, and they decided it wasn't worth the effort to put them back up? Still, it cannot be denied that the future of the VO series looks bleak right now, especially given Sega's current financial situation. Even Sonic is in jeopardy.
  25. Was instantly visible to me. Little details in graphic design can sometimes go a long way.
