King of Fighters 98 UM & 2002 UM: Steam Edition
TAI-X replied to Vulcan422's topic in Misc Fighter Central
MS3 is definitely confirmed to be getting proper ports with online features on PS3/4/Vita, though. Odd that they'd also roll out the PS2 version, but I guess they might not be planning on carrying over its extra modes. -
Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX IGNITION Gameplay Discussion Thread
TAI-X replied to Setsuna's topic in Misc Fighter Central
So out of curiosity, is the netcode indeed worse than UNIB's? I had come to regard Sega as fighting game netcode wizards after what they pulled off in Virtua Fighter 5 FS and the Model 2 Collection releases. Unless they forced French Bread to program it themselves... -
King of Fighters 98 UM & 2002 UM: Steam Edition
TAI-X replied to Vulcan422's topic in Misc Fighter Central
I wish SNKP hadn't abandoned Neo-Geo Station right when they were finally getting into the less outdated parts of the Neo library (Slug 2 and KOF 96 were the last releases). They're some of the most professionally handled porting jobs ever, with stellar netcode that almost no one took advantage of. Every minor option setting is accounted for, and they even finally fixed the crippling slowdown in Slug 2. -
Everything You Need to Know About Guilty Gear Xrd
TAI-X replied to Pichy's topic in Guilty Gear General
I guess this is confirmation that everyone will have to pay for Leo, without any preorder bonus or time-limited promotion for getting him for free. Sin is probably going to have a cheaper DLC that unlocks him right away without having to play through story mode, like what they did with Kagura in BBCP. -
The SS Tenka listing strongly indicates that these will be proper ports and not PS2 Classics. That game only had a standalone PS2 release in Japan, everywhere else got it as part of the SS Anthology. So far there haven't been non-region specific releases of PS2 games on PSN. My faith that these ports will see the light of day has been shaken by SNKP's decision to kick the hornet nest of Square-Enix's lawyers, however.

Can 360 DLC be transferred to Xbox One? Planning on buying the Bone version of Last Round.

King of Fighters 98 UM & 2002 UM: Steam Edition
TAI-X replied to Vulcan422's topic in Misc Fighter Central
They haven't been as desperate as you think. Even after two major commercial flops (KOF XII & SSSen) and their near-abandonment of the console, handheld and PC markets, they've still been pulling in decent profits from mobile games, pachislots, and licensing out their characters to various Asian companies. Honestly, until the lawsuit they were healthier than Capcom is now, because the gambling sector is very resistant to financial duress (it's also controlled by the yakuza in JP). Being forced to pay a huge settlement to S-E could really cripple them, though. This will also undoubtedly lead to them being blacklisted from S-E/Taito's NESiCA arcade service, though they could just move to Sega's P-RAS Multi. I am mainly concerned that this will negatively affect development of KOF XIV. -
King of Fighters 98 UM & 2002 UM: Steam Edition

Both games have been delayed to "winter schedule," likely because SNKP is preoccupied with their legal throwdown with S-E. There's no way they can stand up to S-E's lawyers; I wonder if this will end with them going back into bankruptcy and getting bought out by Tencent. -
This is new to them. They better not pull a SFIV/League of Legends and keep repeatedly adjusting the balance with no end goal in mind, just to appease the whiners every time a percieved "problem" arises and to maintain interest in the game.

New Fighting Game Based On Shining Series
TAI-X replied to Malcopunch's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Still generic and bland, but this looks significantly better than the initial reveal. Getting major Battle Fantasia vibes. It's still not a good representative of the Shining series, though. -
What's the worst fighting game you've played?
TAI-X replied to Verimeloni's topic in Misc Fighter Central
A friend of mine was working at EB Games when this came out, and the entire staff was forced to wear t-shirts advertising it. It's honestly not much worse than the dire 128-bit Mortal Kombat trilogy, though. I kind of lump it in with Kakuto Chojin, that other edgy Xbox-exclusive 3D fighter that was pulled off store shelves after the media got word that it featured a Muslim terrorist as a playable character (they even made him the central figure of the US box art). -
TTT2 had wayyyy too much Skrillexy dubstep. I ended up using the Tekken 2 DLC tracks.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TAI-X replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Oh noooooooooooooooo "Does it support PS3 sticks?" is going to be the new "Is it region locked on PS3?". A question with an obvious negative answer that will be repeated incessently by newbs, because the existence of ONE exception to the rule created the expectation that every other fighting game will follow suit. Also, you can expect a lot of fruitless begging directed at developers to put PS3/360 controller drivers in their next-gen console games. -

Wonder if Maxi will get any Reconguista suits, or if they're saving those for the next game. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TAI-X replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Assuming there aren't any glaring issues with the port (i.e. frame drops), the PS3 version will almost certainly be the Western tourney standard for the forseeable future. It's especially going to be a necessity for smaller venues without a lot of money. I suspect that EVO will use PS4s, though, because Sony is a regular sponsor and they'll insist on having their new hardware pimped. If the game gets any mainstream attention, it will be from general audience early adopters of the PS4 who are just starved for something to play on the system. Most of them won't stick around, though. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TAI-X replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
A representative from MadCatz has already said that they're okay with it, but I imagine Hori will be pretty pissed if the next Tekken or Street Fighter uses similar drivers. -
Big companies, especially Japanese companies, don't do Kickstarters because it makes them look really desperate to shareholders. Darkstalkers' biggest marketable assets are its iconic sexy females. Even people who've never played any of the games know about Morrigan and Felicia, if not from the Marvel games then from online image galleries. If Capcom was smart enough they could exploit these characters to market a new Darkstalkers game to decent success, but they're too incompetent, delusional and financially strapped to try it. I doubt the company will produce a single new fighting game from outside the SF series before they get bought out by someone.

I just found out that the PS2 Rozen Maiden fighter (Gebetgarten?) is also based off of Psychic Force. -

Seems like their intent was to make IKs more like Astrals this time around, as in, you can actually use them in a real match. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TAI-X replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Likely not happening with any ArcSys game for reasons I explained here. -
Not a game I especially care about, but this piece of news is particularly significant. Lab Zero is working on a custom driver to enable backwards compatibility with PS3 wired controllers in the upcoming PS4 version of Skullgirls, but only in that specific game. While a lot of players will understandably applaud this action, I think it's setting a dangerous precedent for the industry, and I don't want to see Hori and MadCatz go out of business because no one is buying new sticks to go along with their new consoles. However, I seriously doubt that Capcom, Namco, NetherRealm, or ArcSys will ever implement similar drivers into their PS4 or Xbone games, because they stand to profit from licensing deals with specialty controller manufacturers, and they're not going to burn bridges with them just to please a small subset of their consumer base. If any other games on the new consoles end up featuring backwards controller compatibility, they'll be from other small "indie" studios and not the big publishers.

No, because it's not freeware.

You know, that's a good point and she seems to have the mouth for it.
