We're getting Creator, Dark Knight, 2nd awakenings I think and the rest of Season 2, continuing off where Nexon dropped the ball. This makes sense since it won't shock the economy. Season 3 was pretty short but we're going to get it drip-fed, albeit quickly.

Let's have a calm and honest discussion about Blitz Shield

"Overdrives and Blitz Shield have no effect on Tension Gain." Derp. Little bit of quick research answered my own question. -

Did tension gain prorate when you blitz shield successfully? -

I like it; I think it's a situational defensive option that can't be easily abused. You can't really use it in block stun (Since that's what Dead Angle is for) but you can punish obvious reads or holes in strings, and if you mess up you eat damage. Risk, reward. I'm just thankful that Rejected! doesn't carry CH properties otherwise it'd be bullshit. -
Tips for playing online for Guilty Gear Xrd?
Hollysmoke replied to foxjasond's topic in Beginner Mode
Don't. Local scene is more fun and more sociable. And if you do for whatever reason, don't let them drag you down; there are lots of gimmicks and playstyles that you can get away with on netplay due to frame buffering and input lag. There may be things you're doing right but feel like you're doing wrong because of netplay, and bad habits you maybe developing because of netplay. Keep in mind you're coming into a game that has a long-standing community as a beginner and casual; expect to get roughed up during this phase. It happened to all of us at one point. If you want some critique on your play, ask the forums like magusheart suggested. There are lots of skilled players here who, while you may receive a thrashing, at least can also give you advice on where you went wrong and need to improve upon. -
If its going to season 4 at least I don't have to shell out a gorjillion dollars to get a Halgi Bone Ring. Lots of new items and loot to hunt for. Creator class to give us seizures. Wooo-hoo!!

I'm one of those wet vets. A group of my friends are playing as well but they kept making new characters over and over again.

I'm really glad I'm not the only one playing. I have an Awakened Striker ready to roll out once the CBT starts in March. Same name as my PSN if anyone wants to whup ass with me.

Fighting against Justice isn't playing a fighting game anymore, it's a goddamn bullet hell game. I do see your fair point though. The point I was just trying to make is that the cast of characters have a clear set of strengths and weaknesses. In Potemkin's case, the strengths aren't enough to justify the weaknesses at the moment.
-
Momentum would be a better word for it, yes. ty. Every fighting game should be imbalanced by design, otherwise every character would be basically the same. I think Potemkin got toned down because they were fearful of how his momentum would be because of YRC changes. Characters will be closer that it's not broken, but not too close that it's boring.

One of the best GG players and the best Potemkin players said Potemkin is pretty awful. Players like FAB don't just use the limited tools Potemkin has to their full advantage, he's using general system mechanics as well as his wealth of experience as a fighting game player to do well. Since GG gives you more freedom to act than other fighting games, he's able to really push the limits. Tier-lists aren't considering a player's experience or knowledge but rather the tools and advantages a character has in certain situations. AC Potemkin had a ton of tools to get him in and do lots of damage, tools he doesn't have anymore (AND they nerfed his explosive grappler damage as well). So not only is a lot more work to get in as Potemkin, it's also less damage. Shoto characters like Ky and Sol will always be mid tier at worst because they have such a varied toolkit.

Were these videos from an online tournament or just casual? I feel like in casual play its okay to be flashy, even if you lose. In tournament play is when you want your gameplan to be a little tighter.
-
You should make sure you don't drop the combo based on character though. If your combo is at the height I'm thinking of, it may not work on heavier characters.
-
If you do it after every knockdown it gets predictable. You'll want to do it depending on spacing.

I'm poor graduate student levels of poverty, but I'd like to stream and record content from my PS3 and edit/upload to youtube. My intention is, ultimately, to make guides that cover execution-related content that a lot of players ask about ("How do I dustloop? How do I use Eddie? How do I jD FDC with I-No?" etc). Break down character-related mechanics that are gatekeeping new players from trying them out in a manner that allows them to practice and study. I was reading about the Elgato. Is there anything I can get that's around $100 or so? EDIT: My setup is my PC is in my room beside my TV/PS3 setup, if that means anything. SECOND EDIT: I also have some old Sega consoles I wouldn't mind streaming for funsies, I think I need composite recording for that though.

This. If you are doing your oki properly, you shouldn't be in situation where you easily get reversed; this is smart play. If you fuck up your oki and are in a position to get hit by a reversal but aren't because the player inputted a reversal off by a frame or so, this is smart play suffering from an execution barrier. I've written a post about this countless times about people coming on the forum's and complaining about how I-No is easier to execute. I think there SHOULD be an execution barrier but you shouldn't have to turn your wrists into a cement mixer grinding out timings and whatnot. I, personally, enjoy a bit of a barrier because it feels like there's a goal to grind towards, a learning achievement of sorts. As long as we don't have P4U reversals, I think it'll be fine.

Is the PS Plus color set only usable on PS4?
Hollysmoke replied to balFrog's topic in Guilty Gear General
It says linked to your account once you "purchase" the colors. However, to keep using the account they're linked too has to be an active PSN+ account. -
Not necessarily GG related but I didn't know where else to post it. I was wondering what would be a good stream card or HDPVR or what have you. I did some research and heard both good and things about the popular Avermedia/Roxio choices. Just looking for what the community things or if people who run events could weigh in their opinions or thoughts of hardware they use themselves.

Have you tested how far you can be for the CH Fafnir before you can tech? I'm curious now.
-
PBB buff is nice I guess. I always felt its damage underwhelming since it ended the combo back into neutral. 2HS anti-air punishes seem like they could be solid. f.S prorate is aww shucks, as well as the WT recovery but nothing to cry about. More DI buffs is always nice too.
-
So basically if you're not using a projectile as a projectile, you get rejected. Seems fair to me.
-
Fafnir change seems reasonable, although saddening. Full screen to screen carry with one attack was kind of silly. Hopefully he gets something more since it's just the first loketest.

I didn't lose my save file but it reset all my default settings for some reason. Audio, buttons, color selection. All defaulted.
