  1. And you have a friend to go get a burger and a beer after all is said and done. Don't forget to invite the lonely guy, s/he can use some friends too! :D
  2. It does. Just sets me back a week or two to get my magic stone and iron scale title. Blah. Also lost Endless Infinities so no hell mode on release 8( My efforts to help out others is going to be halted temporarily while I get my shit back together. Sorries 8(
  3. YES. THAT'S WHO IT WAS. Thank you for reminding me.
  4. You neglected Red Bull and cocaine. WHY ARE WE NOT FULLY EMBRACING POLITICAL STEREOTYPES WE'VE BEEN GIVEN AS GAMERS?! Another one I forgot was go with a friend to tournaments and stuff. It just feels better when you have a good friend to talk too and chill with between matches rather than standing around by your lonesome self.
  5. My account got hacked and stripped. First time in any game ever I got hacked. Sent in a ticket but from this point on I'm more or less retired. I spent a week grinding for the Lightning Fists on my striker and like a day after I get them I don't even get to have fun with them. Uggghh, superior too. If my account doesn't get restored I'll pass guild leadership to someone else because I'm straight up done. I grinded in Nexon NA for nothing, now this? I'll just go play GG instead of wasting my time, thanks. Got my gear back, asshats just sold. Just missing cubes and nihilistic demon stones (I had 60 :/)
  6. I forget who it was but at EVO last year a JP Jin player hit someone with 4 6As in a row and got away with it, finally RCing the 4th into a combo. It was hilarious.
  7. If there was ever a thing to practice being patient in a fighting game, it's the GODDAMN @#%ING TOWER OF DESPAIR AS A F.STRIKER.
  8. At first I was like "Did he really just wade through 5 hours of footage to find that? That's impressive". Then I realized it was actually you being there. *Facepalm* Me, personally, I like to play guitar solos in my head so keep a rhythm up so I don't drop a combo and helps me focus on a beat. I know it sounds weird but it works for me. You'll always be nervous, but it helps to keep it in control. EDIT: You got two tournament winners giving you advice on nerves, that's about as good as it's going to get in this thread lol.
  9. A strong cocktail consisting of Red Bull, methamphetamine and 100% Canadian ginger ale lets me focus so intently I can perpetually see 2 frames into the future, but I can never get out of winner's bracket because I black out. Look up videos on "Pranayama". It's breathing exercises most commonly used in Yoga. The pressure of winning in a tournament, the pressure from playing in front of a crowd, and the pressure to do well builds up. Lots of people are saying "Relax". They're right. Pranayama is how. When I play against local vets, this helps me get through matches.
  10. ROBOMANCY D:< Tell that to my Monk...and my M. Mechanic...and my F. Nen...and...bleh...
  11. Yeah there was some weird geometry bug in the game engine that was causing that. They also posted that they were making certain OTG and ground tech bug fixes. I can try and find the patch notes. They were on a JP blog somewhere.
  12. He's attempting to blitz on the first frame, gets displaced, then blitz goes off. Pulling this off in a real match is astronomically low, I just thought it was a funny bug to share.
  13. Here's some new tech for you Potemkin players: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjqsyqCEFNQ
  14. Just did a price check compared to the headphones I use: $189.99 for Beats, $79.99 for Grado SR60s. Half the price, triple the quality. For the most part, the actual good headphones, the price goes into engineering and development. Mainstream headphones it's all into marketing and visual appeal, like you mentioned.
  15. Go for it. Not enough people joining to justify the alt rule anyways. Add all your alts if you want.
  16. You're not wrong. That was in the patch notes that they're fixing.
  17. What's lagswitching?
  18. Yeah but Dry Out just cancels once to save mana. Best to use it by opening with an attack with poor recovery.
  19. That's basically what it is right now. It's a toggle that you turn on and you have x number of cancels. It recharges over time or you can turn it off so you don't accidentally use them. It's not a passive so you can have the choice to not accidentally consume the cancel on an attack you don't want to cancel.
  20. That'd be broken. Imagine if Sol could RC infinitely all his moves non-stop I like it.
  21. GEE I WISH I COULD RECOVERY MANA LIKE THAT SO I CAN KEEP COMBOS ROLLING ;_;
  22. I forgot to mention that latency on certain input devices are to be considered as well. These are very rough calculations but the they are on they basis of "You see glow, you press button". How the animation plays out was something I also pointed out, and causes people to react to it differently. Although 10.14 frames to react would be "optimal" it is by and far from realistic. I'd see it more half that to react. If any bio majors want an excuse for both playing guilty gear and writing a thesis, now's your chance. If you also subtract your latency on netplay from these times, you'll get a rough idea as to why overheads are a pet peeve for most people.
  23. 70! +11'd my new lvl 70 gloves! Almost 5k Physical Attack Power! I punch like Potemkin who's taken to regular cardio! MUWAHAHAHAAHAH!
  24. Looking at it from the other side also helps you feel out certain difficult links or chains in a combo players may drop. IAD links are usually one, so if you know which ones they are, you can try and get ready to tech, or if you know the player is REALLY good, try and delay a tech so you don't get baited.
  25. Reaction Times: Average Reaction Time: 265ms Median Reaction Time: 254ms Source: http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/statistics Overheads (Dusts) Axl - 433ms Bedman - 433ms Chipp - 450ms Elphelt - 400ms Faust - 433ms I-No - 433ms Ky - 466ms Leo - 416ms May - 450ms Millia - 466ms Potemkin - 450ms Ramlethal - 466ms Sin - 483ms Slayer - 400ms Sol - 400ms Venom - 416ms Zato-1 - 416ms Average dust animation time: 434.21ms. Converting the time to FPS based on the overhead average and human reaction time average, the average player would have about 10.14 frames to reaction to a dust. Some interesting things I noticed were the more mix-up/setplay oriented characters or speedier characters in fact had a slower overhead. More straight-forward characters were faster. Sin's dust should be slightly faster to keep in tune with the rest of the cast. The way animations are played out can cut down on the number of frames you'll physically be able to react too (for example, Millia rolls and then the dust glow appears). Feel free to discuss or point out anything incorrect. I just thought this was interesting.
