  1. That was a fantastic match. I think the best part was the aftermath with Galileo on stage as tears literally streamed down his face. Such an amazing player deserves the win. That was probably the best Blazblue set of all time.
  2. So it's like an interesting fusion of an airdasher and something like Skullgirls with its 2 button air movement? I like the sounds of that.
  3. I-No is a highly mobile rushdown/mixup character. Her entire gameplan revolves around scoring a knockdown, placing a note on them and doing a high/low into another knockdown. Her normals aren't that great but she has a few specials that are ridiculous such as Sroke the Big Tree (low profiles, counter hits and launches). Her unique upward Ground dash allows for easy empty jumps and overheads. Think of her as a slightly less agressive Millia with more zoning tools.
  4. Ky is a great character for beginners. He got a solid toolset overall. The problem is that he's pretty hard to actually win with, you need a very strong pressure/frame trap game to make him work. Chipp on the other hand is harder to use that Ky, but he's arguably the best character in the game. His normals are great, his mobility is great, he can do good damage, his mixup is amazing, he has a solid reversal... Literally everything you would expect out of an S-tier character.
  5. http://m.imgur.com/FAuFUth Just one of the reasons we should be thankful for this game. This got whipped up by a friend of mine after I pitched the idea as a dumb joke. Merkava pls.
  6. Shutouts to Carl and Makoto for cutting Valks midscren combo options in half.
  7. Eliza just became available in the Skullgirls beta. She is literally just Valkenhayn. It's all I want to play
  8. I don't know, having a localized cast can really draw attention to a product (as an aspiring voice actor myself, I know this all too well). I know people whose interest in a game is influenced by the voice cast. Will Xrd turn more heads if they hear that Troy Baker is Sol? You bet your ass they will.
  9. I long for a world where Azrael is a real character and not just a walking frame trap/kill combo.
  10. Azrael is a character with a plethora of defensive options. What does he do on wakeup? 5A. It wins every time. Azrael pls. There's this thing called Oki, you're supposed to respect it.
  11. You and Mike Z are the only people I've seen condemn this game, the kicker is that Mike Z makes games for a living, and damn good ones at that. It is to be expected that his vision of an ideal fighting game would be different from the standard player. I talked to him at UFGT about Xrd and he made some very valid points from a design perspective about where he feels the game could have been better. The thing is that for people who aren't overtly cynical, the fact that its a new Guilty Gear will be enough to sell it. I know that's how it is for me and many others. I'm done here, I already feel bad for getting involved.
  12. @Allyofjustice Expecting Xrd to be perfect is unreasonable. And for god sakes, are the droves of people (including Guilty Gear OGs) who have played the game itself and said it's great not enough? This has just become irrational cynicism at this point. If you don't want to play the game, all the power to you, but you're going to miss out on many great things in the future just because they don't adhere to your every little desire. Maybe the words will carry more weight when you, yknow, actually play the damn game for yourself. I apologise for stoking the fires, but I had to say something before I went insane. I just couldn't deal.
  13. Thanks for the write up, Teyah. It really put a lot of things into perspective on how I might be approaching the character.
  14. Gordeau: + Massive range on normals and specials, consistent damage output, very strong spacing game, command grab that saps the opponents GRD gauge, completely amazing special in Grim Reaper. - Limited mobility (can't think of much else) Eltnum: + Above average mobility, high damage, strong pressure, competent spacing game with select moves. - Does not seem to excel at any one aspect of gameplay. Orie: + Decent pressure, select tools for space control, strong oki and mixup game (even stronger with meter), good mobility. - Can get out-footsied by many characters, does not have a true DP without meter, mostly momentum based, damage output is pretty average. Hope this helps.
  15. Doesn't seem so bad. At least you know that when there IS a Chipp, it will be Samitto steamrolling the entire stream.
  16. Things I learned on Netplay last night: -I can't win against Azrael -I can't win against Bullet -I can always win against Hakumen -I am the most fraudulent Valk player alive for being steamrolled by Tager (GGs to Ctrlaltwtf) Gonna go back to local play, I'm totally out of you Netplay warriors' league.
  17. Millia is among the top characters in Xrd, though not as strong as the super derp characters like Sol, Zato, and Faust. Most people place her around the bottom of S tier or the top of A tier. Definitely a powerful character with overwhelming strengths when she gets her oki going, but she can struggle a bit with characters who posses really strong normals.
  18. w.jA retains its utility from the previous version, but the proration nerf means you can get little to no damage or corner carry off of it. What you can do off of a w.jA is follow it up with w.B into double jump. This puts the enemy below you allowing out to set up a 6 way mixup with w.jB/h.jB as your overheads, w.5C/h.2B as your lows, and wolf command grab. You can do any of these as a crossup or a fake crossup. This alone means w.jA is a perfectly viable air to air move. Wolf brake j.A is still possible, but it only leads to around 2K and no corner carry meaning you can use it to end a round, but not much else.
  19. They're more or less even. Azreal locks him down and kills him in 2 combos on top of his backdash adding a second guessing game to oki. Carl can play neutral against him really well when spaced right, and is able to lock him down and reset him to death. I just personally get steamrolled by Azrael because I play too respectfully, and this is motherfucking Azrael we are talking about, the undisputed king of giving no fucks. Speaking of Azrael, my new peeve: Laggy sentinel dump going over w.5A. Why.
  20. Tao, Litchi, Azreal (?), and Kokonoe are a few matchups where he can have a hard time. And thats not counting his more even matchups either such as Ragna (Shoutouts to Ragna buttons making the matchup feel 6-4 instead of 5-5), Relius, Carl, and Rachel. Valk is only as threatening as you perceive him to be, he actually has the same advantages against characters that lose to the other A/S Tiers. It's a shame we don't have more people in NA playing him so people would be more comfortable with the matchup. And like StylisH said, he crumbles under strong pressure. Get that old man blocking.
  21. I'm a pad player who uses analog stick on a default Dualshock and execution isn't a problem for me, and I play Valkenhayn for god sakes! What im getting at is that you should just find what feels right for you. You should note that, at least to my knowledge, analog users are the minority among pad players. Try out digital, and if you really feel that isn't gonna work, you could try to track down a stick (you said sticks are rare in Peru so I don't know how viable of an option it is). Regardless, if you are new, the best option would be to just mess around with the game, you'll get used to it over time!
  22. Hey guys, I've decided to start learning the cat as a sub, mainly because I want to learn a frametrap/pressure character to improve my understanding of the game. With Valkenhayn its just like "LOL Im forcing a 50/50 on you" and I'd like to try something different. My question falls in line with this. What are my main pressure strings with Tao, where are my frame traps, how do I get in and assert my offense on the opponent? Any info would be appreciated and help me work towards being less braindead of a player.
  23. I actually have a question exactly like Sojoro's. who was the Yellow/Black/Red Seth in the same Spica videos? Haven't seen Seth play like that since TTK.
  24. This. You'd think that since there are like 4-5 of us active online that people would want to learn the matchup.
