With UFGT coming up in a month I am studying matchups I already know, but this is a matchup completely foreign to me and I don't want to go into it blind given how scary of a character Rachel is. So what is the general overview? How should Valkenhayn go about this matchup? Is her zoning hard to deal with? Any reversal type shenanigans is should be looking out for? I have so many questions! Thanks in advance!

That would allow Millia to use Chroming Rose ALL THE time. Enjoy being in blockstun for the whole match. -
I noticed that Suya liked to add w.5C > 236A to his corner combos after TK Mondlicht, even if he was low on wolf meter. Do you think that the cooldown reset is even worth the damage? Also, is that Terumi actually Hima, as in OUR Hima? If so: What. The. Fuck. This character ruins everything.

This reminds me that I have the current AoC arcade build sitting on my desktop collecting virtual dust. Gotta see if Hanzo is still godlike!

If I had a method of actually getting to PNP I would. It dosnt help that it's a long ways from where I live... -
Despite being the second most hated character in this game next to Kokonoe, I feel that Valkenhayn is great simply because at a high level he is one of the most flashy and exciting characters in the entire roster. You don't see Valkenhayn almost at all in more casual levels of play, so I like being able to show people who aren't used to seeing him just what he can do. There's also the fact that oki/mixup characters are da bess. .... He also may be a bit too good, but CP1.1 is soon so cut the old man some slack. He just wants to prevent you from playing off of one knockdown.

When you do really well for a few matches, and then all of a sudden become afflicted with spaghetti fingers. It's like I forget how to play the game sometimes for no rhyme or reason. Playing Valk does not help remedy this either. Also Terumi. To hell with that guy.

Got back from work and I need to unwind before I sleep like a baby. Coming online, so rev up those good connections! Edit: well that was in un-eventful. Shoutouts to Terumi for being my most hated character in the game. I wish there was a way to convey the sound of pressing ALL the buttons in text form, it would make describing my feeling on the matchup so much easier.

And now I don't have time to place an order for a PS2 pad before the tournament. My converter is just sitting here collecting dust. CURSE YOU FATE!!! -
"These grim fangs are every bit as sharp as the edge of your blade!" - Valkenhayn using Konig Flug on Hakumen. "Bitch! Bitch! Bitch! Bitch! xN"- Ragna ground tech. "Sign this contract and become a magical girl." - Arakune in Platinum's Extend gag ending. "Sucks to be you!" - Makoto activating OD. "I won't say it again, GET UP!" - Azreal spending a weak point.

I wasn't expecting Bedman to be so beefy. Also glad that the rumours of Millia getting her health nerfed to below Chipp levels turned out to be false, though the bastard still has his illegitimate Japanese guts :P -

Millia vs. Venom: Is he the pitcher or the catcher?
Stellarcircle5 replied to TGS's topic in Millia Matchups
Holy hell, I wasn't expecting such a detailed response! You rock, Teyah! Faultless Defense seems to be a recurring thing in your post, so I guess I should be using it more. It's gonna be hard though because I love hoarding meter for FB disc. Also, baiting an AA with a neutral jump... For something so simple it makes me wonder why I've never thought to use it. Guess that strikes Venom from the my list of "Matchups that make me want to tear my hair out. Only like, 4 or 5 more to go. You might be seeing another post like mine in the future depending on whichever is pissing me off the most XD -
So I've been playing online...

There's really no need to feel cheated. Maybe try messing around with CT for yourself and you'll see how effective it can be. Just drop George on your opponent to get them blocking and open them up with your CT! Like Mac said, it's a matter of not expecting it, and against a mixup heavy character like Rachel you can bet they will not see it coming! -

There is a ton of stuff certain characters can do to make use of their CT. My personal favorite with Valkenhayn is to start pressure, wolf command dash into human and immediately CT. No one expects it It's a perfectly viable mixup option that is no less honest than your average high/low/throw game. If its becoming hard to deal with, try barrier blocking more, there's not much more you can do to deal with it. -
Millia vs. Venom: Is he the pitcher or the catcher?
Stellarcircle5 replied to TGS's topic in Millia Matchups
I have been having loads of trouble with this matchup. On paper I know it should be in Millia's favor, but this freaking guy seems to have an answer for everything she has. A few shitty scenarios I have found myself in: - Fullscreen ball spam. Can't safely approach, even with pin. I thought pin would be able to shut down any balls as I approach Venom, but the spacing is so precise when it comes to sniping the ball that it feels nigh impossible. Even if I DO manage to snipe the ball there is just another one at an angle I can't cover. - Ground footsies, Venom's normals are really freaking good, and I know that this is usually where Millia struggles. 5S and 2S in particular shut me down hard. - FB Stinger Aim. Screw this move, seriously, it basically seems to make Venom safe from any sort of approach as long as the ball is active. - Getting 6P anti aired. Holy jesus his 6P wrecks me so hard. It almost makes me feel like approaching from the air isn't worth it. I know that this matchup is essentially "Whoever gets knocked down first loses", but Venom's space control in Neutral makes gaining any sort of momentum a huge chore. The only times I am able to win is when I get my vortex going at round start. As soon as he manages to get into neutral, I just lose. There are too many balls. Help. Please. They are everywhere. -
I'm actually really relieved to finally see some competent play. I'm glad that our combos seem largely the same. Besides the encouragement of playing human footsies more (which might be a good thing for some people, I know it will be for me), this looks like the same old man I've been playing since October

This is the part where you become the heroic Bedman player in our scene who didn't succumb to the temptation of Zato. Also, DAIJI NOOOOOO! -
Hey guys, P4A scrub here. I never really took P4 seriously for the longest time due to none of the characters really appealing to me. I really love mixup based characters, but Aigis' offense was so freaking one dimensional that it made me cringe. I took a step back from the game until recently when my friend decided to pass on his knowledge of Yosuke to me as he was switching to Narukami in P4U2. I feel like an idiot for never playing this character, I love everything about him. So what I was wondering was now that I'm actually practicing the game and excited for Ultimax, what changes is Yosuke getting? All I know is that his getting actual oki which makes me squeal like a mixup happy schoolgirl. Where is he getting better/worse, and is he still the same in terms of character strength vs the absurd top tiers?

While she is a fairly well rounded character, I personally wouldn't recommend learning the game with Tsubaki. When you said it felt like every character was doing more damage than you, its because they were. She has what is probably the most situational damage output in the game and it is very hard to consistently do well with her. That being said, if she DOES get that situational damage, your opponent will just straight up die Nu and Mu are both very solid characters with great space control. The difference between them is pretty drastic though. Mu is more adept at playing footsies as her neutral is very strong and her reward off of counterhits is extremely high. Nu is more of a traditional zoner who makes approaching her an arduous task for some characters, and on top of that while her high end damage can be pretty tough in terms of execution she has potential to hit REALLY hard. Bullet is a very good character for beginners in my opinion. She has a gameplan that is easy to grasp and she encourages strong fundamentals to do well. The problem is that she gets lamed out pretty easily in certain matchups (zoners give her a really hard time). Her damage output is fantastic too. She only needs to land two little combos to ensure that the third will do like 5K to 6K (that's a lot of damage in BB). Izayoi just... Isn't in a very good spot right now. If you want to play her, go ahead. She has pretty great mobility and mixup options but she can't carry momentum very well at all. I would recommend waiting for the CP 1.1 patch where she is getting a bit better. As for who else I would recommend for learning the game: Ragna, Jin, Makoto, and Noel would be good choices as they are easier to play overall. Take this with a grain of salt though. Some people just stick with who they like, no matter how hard they may be. I learned Blazblue and anime games in general by playing Valkenhayn (considered to be one of the hardest characters in the game). It's all up to you, and good luck!

So was brainstorming some stuff at work and was thinking, what ways could Valk use meter to create some new mixups. I came home and put some theory into practice and wanted some input. I thought I would take some tech from Jin and see if corner vaccum into IAD crossups would work. I know its 50 meter, but we dont really use meter that much anyway and it would definitely be used sparingly since most people blocking Valk likely wouldnt see something like this coming.. What do you guys think? Would you say this is viable? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkGdlH7dNk0

Sol is completely ridiculous in Xrd, so I don't think praying for new tech is necessary :P -

There is some footage of her from the recent Loketest that you can find. You are on the right track with the Dizzy comparison. She has the same setup style oki, but her neutral seems to be more about footsies and less about zoning. You should check it out! -

I heard she will be added in a patch that is coming out sooner rather than later. I think I heard that it will be sometime during April, though I might be wrong. I know for sure that it will be sometime before the summer. I'm pretty stoked to see her in action, she looks super sick!
