ArcSys Voice Acting [This thread has rules now]
MaximusMurkimus replied to SoWL's topic in Zepp Museum
When the games get progressively more and more expensive, the justification in price becomes questionable, especially if a dub is absent. CS was $40, and CP/CPE were $50. Price difference could be justified in paying for new characters budget, but even then there were more characters released in those releases than there was in CF. Only Es and Naoto would need new VAs hired. Even Skullgirls, an indie title with a decent sized roster, had a release with full voice acting, and even that was only $20. Remember, Call of Duty map packs were only $10 before Activision realized they could get away with it for $15. I feel like Street Fighter set the precedent for full priced fighters and Tekken followed suit. Only difference is that those two series have a large enough fanbase to take the risk. If ASW starts to notice poor sales, maybe they'll realize that. -

Yeah, as irritated as we can get over it, it's ultimately out of our hands. I just don't hope they think they can get away with pricing it at $60 like the estimated pre-order pricing is, especially without a dub. -

I can even see them putting in some BS explanation for the lack of a dub exclusively in the localized story mode. "The many possibilities of the Continnum Shift meant that everyone was suddenly speaking Japanese, their native tongue." Mori don't you even dare -

It's a very simple plan if there's no dub. Buy it used. Watch the story mode on YouTube in the meanwhile. Frequent the boards here if that's not an option. Shit, I bet if Atlus wasn't overseeing localization then we probably wouldn't have had a dub there, either. Look how well ASW's been with updating it after release. ASW might be going down the Koei Tecmo route of quantity over quality; frequent releases pushed out with the bare minimum of localization and loads of DLC. Better that they're made aware of that before it's too late. -

Seems like Cristina Vee and David Vincent (Noel and Jin) are also in the dark as well. Does ASW have a social media presence? Maybe people can get REALLY passionate and they'll respond in some way or form. -

Devil's advocate, maybe the Japanese dub isn't finished yet (story edits, sequencing) and that's why they're waiting to finish that before calling in the English ones? Maybe they're planning on releasing it as a day-one patch and that's why they're in no rush to finish the rest of the game? After Regulator, I'm sure they're gonna want to avoid the same backlash. or not, because all the pro players are gonna come out going "who cares really" and ASW is gonna listen to them first and foremost. tbh, I don't think most Japanese companies care about dubs. Dynasty Warriors 8 almost didn't get dubbed until there was an overwhemingly negative response, and even then, it's the only one in the Warriors series to remain dubbed. I tolerated XBlaze because it was short and niche as it was, but if I'm supposed to sit through 40 hours of mind-warping bullshit then at least give me 40 hours of it in a language I can understand. -

Honestly, this would just be one more thing for them to sell to us with the Extend version. They don't even have the "but we need this ASAP for that EVO HYPE" excuse since they're releasing it during the off season, as well. As much as I've been waiting for this game, it would simply be a matter of people going "lolnope" and buying the game secondhand for them to realize they screwed up and drop a patch. -

I'm sure there's some reason behind them though, I can't think of much that has happened in BlazBlue with no real purpose. Also, all those pics in Famitsu would make much better character select photos than the official art we got. On a grim note, I was always wondering this since her playable reveal. Are Izanami's feet binded, (or even worse, missing), or just comedically drawn in proportion to the rest of her body? It was a little harder to tell in the official art but this one is from a better angle; it also helps confirms the doll joints under her arms too. It would explain her fondness for floating/teleporting both in the story and while playable (although she does seem to walk away from Terumi at the beginning of CP) Saya didn't seem to have anything unusual about her as a child, either. Maybe Relius screwed up during the process and she just said "Eh, I'm more of a 'floater' person anyway" -

True, but there was also a 5 month gap between the English and Japanese dub. Patrick Seitz not knowing anything about it is also disconcerning news, since you would assume they would be recording it now, especially since the story mode is apparently 3x as long. Honestly, the lack of a dub messed with my experience reading/watching through XBlaze, and since BB is much more popular I would be absolutely ticked if they were not gonna do it. I learned about some of my favorite VAs by first hearing them in BB, and some of the new characters like Izanami and Hibiki would be really amazing to hear in their more active roles. Hell, I would pay for English system voices, too. Persona 4 Arena had them via Navigators, and it made the experience much more enjoyable. -

Izanami's motivations are starting to contradict each other. If she's trying to destroy the Master Unit in the first place, why does she need to put Noel back in it? And if she needs Noel back in it, why is she actively encouraging most of the playable cast to off her? Matter of fact, why doesn't she do this all herself if it's such a big deal? If we're going off of the idea that Saya is somewhat cooperating with Izzy in her plans, I'm gonna say that she's just being petty when it comes to Noel and much rather spend quality time with Ragna through trying to beat the tar out of one another instead. -

It's strange for me that Ragna doesn't hesitate to harm his sister body (it seems like this). Even Naoto looks much more against it I understand that he doesn't concern about fighting with Jin (who would care about hellish brother like Jin even if he softened a little in the CP?) but with Saya? I thought the same thing in his Act 2 ending, but as someone pointed out to me in the middle of all the rage, Izanami apparently stabbed herself with his sword to trigger a Phenomenea Intervention, which is why she was so full of it with the creepy smile and "pointless to resist" rhetoric. As for fighting her beforehand, Ragna could easily be aware that his attacks wouldn't really hurt either Izzy nor Saya to the point where he has to worry; even when he rekt Jin in CS he say something along the lines of "you'll be aight", I'm guessing he assumed the same with Saya, and sure enough, some of her KO sprites have her just kinda conceding the win to her opponent. I wonder how far he plans to go for his other "sisters", though. Noel we've know about since CT, Lambda was basically Saya with no memories during their time in Alter Memory, and trying to help Nu had him paying big time. Wonder what they'll have their fates be in the end? I'm fully expecting some sort of super Noel with the memories of all of them combined. might be messy. -

Because once you take them off, they'll reveal GREEN EYES Boom, Ragna/Jin/Saya/Noel/Carl are all related, thanks Mori -

That's a foregone conclusion since it was said that most of the world ended up turning into seithr at the end of CP. Whether or not it will happen to the main characters/ sticks thanks to Phenomena Intervention is the main issue here. -

I wouldn't be surprised if Mori cheesed us once again using Noel to explain Saya. "Hurr durr the reason why Noel has all these memories of Saya is because Saya's soul was transferred to her so feel free to tear up Izanami since your sister isn't in her anymore lol". Would be the easiest explanation but I'd like to see Ragna really try to fix his family the hard way. Maybe Izanami will end up pacified by the end of CF and ripe for an inevitable harem with her new brother? I think the idea of she looking like an Amanohokosaka to avoid suspicion would make sense for her appearance but it simply wouldn't work. The Ikaruga war was pretty public and there wasn't any reason for a civil war in the family, and most people didn't even see Izanami outside of high-ranking NOL member, who would simply either be behind her like Terumi and Relius or not, like Kagura. Plus she just went "lol sure I quit here you go Homura" so she really wasn't interested in the role to begin with. If anything, her ability to force Ragna into Black Beast mode would give her some connections to the Azure Shrine Maiden, who got cozy with the Black Beast to seal it away. -

I always felt Lambda was still hanging around because she would literally be the perfect body for Saya to use if she had to get rid of Izanami that way. -

A final boss stage if I ever saw it. What bothers me about the current story is that we now no longer have a proper main villain to focus all of our attention on. For CT and CS it was Terumi, for CP and most of CF it was Izanami, and now its a fatal four way between those two, Relius, and Nine. Not to mention all the other characters turning into enemies in order to fufill their wishes. So then, who does Ragna (and to that extent, the player) need to beat the stuffing out of in order to secure a better future? At first I thought it was the Ammy Unit, but its clear we're supposed to go "oh poor Noel" again. Black Beast is only teased at this point, but even if it wasn't, no one is beating it single handedly. Even if you somehow manage to lay out all Four Horsemen and lay them out in a nice pile, you've only taken care of people who would take advantage of the terrible state of the world, not the cause of everything to begin with. -

That's a good idea, but it wouldn't explain why current Rachel is a Chronophantasma and Izanami isn't. Matter of fact, why does Rachel have to be a Chronophantasma? Does this allow her to intervene freely? Why wouldn't she return to a more stable form so that she can spam Tsukuyomi without more concern? -

Yeah, Izanami and Rachel do have a lot in common now that we know more about them, wouldn't be too far to assume that their origins are similar as well. Could Saya T. be a failed/recreated Izanami vessel, then? Maybe that was the reason she had such a high Ars Magus aptitude; she couldn't handle it (and ended up wiping out her clan as a result) and since Izanami had BB's Saya she ended up being her own person with similar strength and different objectives. THE PIECES ARE COMING TOGETHER, MORI -

See, you mentioned that vampires in BB exist in the sense that they are capable of turning into the stereotypical blood suckers of literature lore. This is clearly Mori playing his favorite tropes, but I'm curious as to what are vampires' true importance in the BB universe? Protecting the Master Unit? Rachel is noted as the leader of her family, but is she the ONLY member remaining? If Raquel exists, probably not. And here I was hoping "vampire" was only a descriptor name, like Izanami. -

So if Raquel is the Embryo/byproduct of the Azure/Embryo, maybe Rachel actually is the "good" representation of the Azure in the BB world in opposition to Izanami, which is why she is insistent on protecting the current world; that could be what the Azure wants to maintain order, since we're not entirely sure of what it wants aside from it being sentient. Why can Raquel possess Rachel? Because they share a connection through the Azure/Embryo; it could probably work the other way if she needed it to. If this Mei in BE really is a different one based on the spelling, it could definitely be the entire BE world is a divergence of the BB world; XBlaze led to the current BlazBlue timeline, while XBlaze didn't quite happen exactly the way it did and the BE was the result. -

Apparently Raquel came straight from the Embryo in BE while Rachel is unknown, but like you said, they have different methods of obtaining their knowledge. Is there any chance Rachel could be the "good" manifestation of some sort of Azure/Master Unit-related object, like how Izanami is the "evil" side of the Master Unit? Like Lana/Sia in Hyrule Warriors, for example. They're pretty similar in terms of disposition/personality but have polarizing goals. I'm also playing through XBlaze right now; how could BE take place chronologically after CF if an older Mei knows Naoto/Saya T.? Or was that not confirmed/BE actually takes place in a simultaneous timeline? -

Here's a question: why is Raquel aware of Rachel enough to possess her but not the other way around? They're technically "sisters", if Clavis is the father for both of them, wouldn't they at least know each other through that, or was it a different timeline Clavis from BE who found Raquel? -

I don't think Rachel would've preferring watching everyone getting rekt if it meant her existence was safe. Her life of luxury consisted of hundreds of years of watching the same people make the same mistakes over and over again; I'm sure she prefers getting involved to this. That being said, what exactly is she doing to help out? Encouraging Ragna? Engaging Terumi? She did both of those in previous games without any risk of dying, so why has that changed now?
