Yeah, that's the DL 808 thread for you, LOL. RANDOM posting/discussion, considering only a few people actually post up in this thread to 'talk story'. I'd could comment on the CS stuff but... I don't play BB. LOLZ
-
Where is everyone? Oh wait... No one in Hawaii really posts up in this thread to discuss stuff, save for a few people anyway. Stay RANDOM, DL 808 thread. LOL
-
Don't you mean CS since it just came out recently for US consoles? lol. Anyway though, welcome to the thread. Sup. AFAIK, you're the only person from Maui that has posted up in this thread so far, lol. Welcome to the thread. If you're looking for some SSF4 casual matches, post up in SRK's 808 thread. Check it out if you haven't done so already. One question for you: Does anyone on Maui play GG?
-
I wouldn't know... I don't play BB. LOL Wil, from SRK, right? Sup. What brings you out here to DL's 808 thread and all the way from SRK's 808 thread?

Bears: There's gonna be a console version of AH3. SF4 guy(s): What's AH? Bears: AH is the 'all girls' FG. SF4 guy(s): Oh...it's that ANIMU game. Bears: It's a good game! SF4 guy(s): Sounds...interesting? Bears: GET HYPE FOR KAWAII FUN TIME I think that's how the convo went. LOL The MBAA Finals was good stuff. I saw Kusanagi's H-Aoko in action, though I was kinda hoping to see him use F-Aoko in at least one match, lol. *insert "it is a mystery.img" from Melty Bread here.* I've seen Dagger_G and DanHibiki play some CT at HBB one time. So, other people kinda play BB...somewhat, lol. Let me ask you something. When Ihpsta brought up the idea for a petition for a CS cab back in March in SRK's 808 thread, what did you think about it? I was thinking, "Too little, too late." IMO 808 BB SADLIFE indeed. LOL True that. AH1 - Mainly used Heart. - Dabbled with Saki, Mei Fang, and Fiona. - Interested in chars I dabbled with. Also, Kamui, Maori, and Lilica. - Utilized mostly Thunder and Dark Arcanas. - Interested in Love, Wind, Water, Time, and Earth Arcanas. AH2 - Would've still used Heart. - Would've probably learned and used Akane. - Interested in Clarice, Petra, and some AH1 chars. AH3 - Will most likely use Heart and Akane. - Interested in learning Weiss. - Still interested in Clarice, Petra, and a few other chars. - Will most likely utilize Arcana I'm familiar with from AH1, as well as try out newer Arcana from AH2 and AH3 to determine their utility with my chars.

There's our resident 808 MB player, lol. Did you watch the EVO 2010 MBAA Finals? There are BB players in SRK's 808 thread? Kinda hard to tell since that thread is entirely all about 808 SSF4 stuffs, lol. Unless you wanna count when Ihpsta tried to garner support for a BBCS cab via a petition as BB related stuff in the 808 SSF4 thread, I don't really see much BB discussion going on in that thread, IMO. This brings up a question: Why don't the other 808 BB players post up in DL's 808 thread? It would make sense for BB players to look here for comp considering DL is where a majority of BB related discussion stuffs takes place. Then again, people who mainly play BB in the 808 don't really post up in this thread either, lol. TBH, I think it all comes down to an interest/support issue in regard to 808 BB stuffs. I share the same sentiment for this. I feel that if someone wants to learn/pick up your game, their interest needs to be genuine and sincere. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and effort. For me, it's like this: If you already play my game, great. If you don't play my game, whatever. It is what it is. Will '808 BB SADLIFE' be less SAD? LOLZ Stay away from my char, lol. And yes, you are asking for too much, hoping for an AH dakimakura.... A Heart or Akane one would be pretty cool though. Arturo putting everyone on blast in the SRK AH3 thread is pretty hype. Also, the OG AH players with the knowledge/experience assist is pretty nice as well. Newly interested AH player: What is a good arcana for 'X' character? OG AH Player: Try out char/arcana combinations for yourself instead of 'X copying' other players. It will be interesting to see if all the 'new' people who are now interested in AH3 stuffs will have hype when the import console version comes out and stick around playing the game a few months after it's release. Especially since it will be months till the console release, access to AH3 cabs in the US is limited, and most likely everyone else who will be playing AH3 for the 1st time will only be doing so via the console port.
-
Thoughts on some FG stuffs from last week: MvC3 chars additions: When are they gonna announce some female chars for the Marvel roster? lol The Capcom roster looks pretty nice so far. Trish is an interesting addition, though I would've preferred Lady instead. HYPED for Amaterasu. SF X T / T X SF: It looks somewhat interesting? 2D Tekken by Capcom or 3D Street Fighter by Namco.... Choose Your Adventure! ArcSys annoucement: Though an annoucement for a new GG would've been pretty fucking hype, the announcement for a console version of AH3 is still pretty hype nonetheless, even though it's only for an import version right now. Hopefully, there will be an announcement for a localized version of AH3 later on though.... Bears and myself, will probably be the only people in Hawaii that would even play AH3 and take it seriously, LOL. HYPE
-
That's not the AV I recommended to you. Since you changed your AV to reflect your hype for AH3, maybe you can change/update the 1st post of this thread as well, LOL. I think you might be the only person playing GG if you were to bring it down, unless Mystic d decides to play some casuals with you. It would probably be the same if BB casuals were to take place, with only the 2 of you playing the game, unless other 808 BB players actually show up, if they exist...

Story time. So, a friend of mine from Hilo and I had a convo about EVO stuffs and our respective FGs in general (GG and Tekken). The topic about possibly learning the other person's FG comes up and is discussed. Then, the subject of local FG communities comes up, which then sparks a bit of a debate in regard to my game anyway. *Highlight from convo* Friend in Hilo: If I started up a scene (for GG) in Hilo, would you support it? (reference to 'Field of Dreams') Kuro: No... You're probably thinking; "Why not? Wouldn't you want a GG scene on the Big Island?" However, if you knew my POV on the subject, like Bears does, or have read some of my previous posts regarding interest and support for FG scene stuff in Hawaii, you might see it like this: Instead of; "Why I shouldn't say no?" It's more like; "Why should I say yes?" Basically, this would start off with a petition to get a GGAC cab into Hilo Fun Factory, then a scene forms because he is playing the game and supposedly drawing interest so that other people get into the game. Sounds familiar? Seems sorta like the whole "Support BBCS for Fun Works" petition, right? And why did that FAIL miserably? Because there was barely any interest and support from BB players in Hawaii and the timing for it was hella late in regard to the console release of CS. So, I'm supposed to believe that a GG scene is gonna form up in Hilo when: - The majority of the arcade scene there mainly plays Tekken and maybe even some SF4 to an extent. - There was a petition to bring a 3S cab into Hilo Tilt and when it finally got there, barely anyone actually played the game, save for the guy that requested it. IIRC, the 3S cab isn't even there anymore. - AFAIK anyway, no one really is interested in GG, save for maybe 2 guys that are more or less GG fanboys that probably don't really play the game, lol. - I tried to get some Hilo people into GG a few years back but they ended up flaking out on me. - My friend the Tekken player, doesn't even play GG in the first place. Really? REALLY? I've already told him what to expect if he decides to pick up GG, in which you mostly grind training mode to get execution/combo stuff down before even considering to learn matchup stuffs, lol. And he wants to be at the forefront of this movement, much less be the inspiration for other people to be interested in the game? Considering from what he tells me about the Tekken scene in Hilo and how some players there bitch about how the 'scene' isn't really active and that he has to put up with scrubby stuff from other players, I seriously doubt that people will jump over to learn GG just because he is playing the game. Even if this were to take off, it would take a considerable amount of time and effort for the 'scene' to even get somewhat acclimated to GG, which could take 9 months to 1 year, bare minimum, IMO. Hell, probably even beyond that to start to develop the skills and understanding to play GG. And that would be barely enough to just scratch the surface of learning GG concepts/stuffs, much less being able to be somewhat proficient in the application of those concepts in actual match play, considering that this would be all from nothing. This is assuming people pick a char and stick with them instead of jumping around from char to char, no one ragequits from mostly practicing/executing BnB combo stuffs, they put a lot of effort into training mode and versus mode when applicable, and play GG as much, if not more than their main game. I doubt that the 'scene' will have the same level of enthusiasm that he has. I don't know why he is even worrying about starting up a scene for the game when he has yet to even learn/play GG first. The one thing that makes me go about this is the timing of this newfound desire in supposedly wanting to learn/pick up GG. Where was this interest for the game a few years back when I was looking for GG players in Hawaii, much less try to get people who lived here locally into the game? IMO, there wasn't any interest, unless you already played GG to begin with. And even then, GG is a niche FG to play. I've only played a little over a handful of people that actually (or somewhat) played GG in Hawaii, starting back in late 2007. The number of people that even play GG in Hawaii is less than 5 people. For a while it was 3 people at most that currently played the game and posted up to talk about it in the 808 thread on DL, but now that number is down to 2 players because someone just recently moved to the mainland. It's 2010 now, and it's been almost 3 years since the US console version of GGAC (PS2) was released back in Fall 2007. He's only interested in playing GG now? Way to be hella late to the niche party. I really can't support this, at all. I'm quite jaded from past experiences when it comes to FG scene stuffs on this island. Mostly because of non-interest and people flaking out on me. "Too little, too late", IMO. Initially, him picking up GG was a compromise to me if I were to pick up Tekken, so that we both could have a training partner for our respective games. Now, it has seemingly gone beyond that, to the point that he has called me out in GG and saying that he'll beat me at my game. ROFL WTF Oh yeah, there was also some shit talk. LOLZ To be continued...
-
Well, good luck with that. Who knows? Maybe they can even join up and post on the 808 DL thread if they become more interested/serious about playing BB in Hawaii. I'd be happy if I could get one person over here into GG and be somewhat serious about it. Oh well... Gaming sessions at someone's place are usually better anyway cause you can opt to play other games as well and you could even turn the session into somewhat of party with food and alcohol stuffs, lol. I'd probably only drop money at an arcade to play DB, if it's still at Pearlridge anyway. And even then it'd probably be only Bears and myself playing the game, getting all hype while other people are playing Tekken and SF4. ...is there barely anyone who mainly plays BB here in Hawaii? LOL You've done a lot in regard to BB stuffs: mainly to spark some interest in playing the game, getting the CT cab fixed up at Leeward Bowl, and asking for the possibility of the upgrade to CS there. This is stuff that the local BB player(s) could've done themselves if there was interest and support for the game, which is nonexistent here in Hawaii, much less there even being a local scene for the game. Unless you really want to host BB sessions, which is fine and all, but I'd rather see someone with the same interest level that you have for BB stuffs, to step up and take charge. And no, I don't mean for 1 of the 2 GG players that somewhat dabble in BB to take charge either. Yeah... That's what I was referring to, lol. This: A button for special moves and a button for throws? WTF
-
It's the same rate as the DB cab at Pearlridge Fun Factory. $1 for 3/5 rounds. You could easily spend a minimum of $10 if you play against good comp or even stretch $5 if you are by yourself and just practicing stuff. Also, maximizing rounds makes vs. mode fun as well as winning often to save money. *recalls when Bears and I played DB for one weekend* Good times. Location is a possible issue cause I think people from downtown/eastside Oahu would be somewhat reluctant to drive out to Leeward Bowl just to play CS. Something about places being 'far' and stuff. This makes no sense to me seeing that Oahu has a freeway system, notwithstanding traffic stuffs. Considering that I either drove across Big Island from Kona to Hilo (100 miles) for a gaming session or fly inter-island just to play comp, 'far' on Oahu does not compute to me, lol. Interest is the other issue as who would even play the game. Do you even have some comp when you play at Leeward Bowl and do you feel that the local comp actually knows what's up and puts in some effort? Doesn't arcade CS also have an 'easy mode' option? It could either help to ease in new players or encourage scrubby shortcut play. It would probably be easier to host console CS sessions at someone's place with a group of interested players versus arcade CS where you have to pay for every game and have to deal with possible control issues and randoms. Hopefully someone (besides you Mystic d) takes the initiative to do this, someone in the 808 that mainly plays BB anyway, if they exist, lol. AFAIK, 99.9% of the few Hawaii players that post up in this 808 thread live on Oahu. Except for me. I live on the Big Island. Read my sig.

Wow... How is it that someone that's only visiting for the summer is supporting BB stuffs more than supposed 808 BB player(s) that somewhat exist. LOLZ Mystic d even asked for the possibility of an upgrade to CS, alongside asking to get the CT cab somewhat fixed at Leeward Bowl. What happens when Mystic d leaves at the end of summer? 808 BB stuff 'dies' again? LOL. Who would even step up to support BB stuff when he is gone, considering there isn't really an 808 BB scene and all that? Asking to get the cab somewhat fixed was the least anyone could do if they wanted to play arcade CT. IMO, asking for the upgrade to CS though was not needed, particularly because of the whole 'lack of support/interest for BB in Hawaii' and the console release of CS this month. Also, even if the upgrade to CS happened, it would be undeserved because no one in Hawaii that mainly plays BB came together as a scene to even propose and support the idea, at Leeward Bowl anyway. How much does CT cost to play at Leeward Bowl and what is the round setting for vs. play? I hope you told the Leeward Bowl guy about the patch stuff for arcade CS... Would people even drive out to Leeward Bowl to play arcade CS once they have console CS?

I wanted to use my last post as a counterpoint to the petition for arcade CS when it was brought up and first discussed back in March, if it ever made it's way here to the 808 thread on DL from the original post(er) in the 808 thread on SRK. I don't think he's coming back here anytime soon, for GG-related stuff at least, lol. Don't stress out about it too much though. But like I said, the lack of interest/support is why there isn't an active BB scene in Hawaii at this time. Right now, you are probably the only person from the 808 that mainly plays BB that even posts up to talk about the game somewhat on here and that says a lot. There may be others but they have yet to post or don't even post anymore, in regard to this 808 thread on DL anyway. FWIW, at one point in time, I tried to have some hype for BB. I almost even tried to get some sort of scene going here on the Big Island, but it wasn't meant to be, lol. Long story short: - I was gonna try to start up a BB scene in Hilo. - I was gonna commute across the island to play the game and support the scene. - I come to realize that BB is SADLIFE, the whole 'spiritual successor to GG' BS. - What little hype that I had for the game was now gone. *Recalls when I tried to get some Hilo peeps into GG, they flaked out on me.* *Recalls a gaming experience with a scrub GG fanboy that said he "knew how to play GG", which then led to beatdowns in which he was hella FREE.* *Recalls commuting to Hilo to play casual matches against scrub GG fanboy, which were a waste of time cause he didn't put much effort into practice and sessions became more training and less actual matches.* - Decided that this shit (scene stuff) was not worth it, at all. - Also considered flying up to Oahu once a month to play the CT cab at HBB, but chose not to in the end. Sometimes, I still find it hard to believe that there is a DB cab at Pearlridge Fun Factory. Someone must have liked the game enough to have it brought in. But for one weekend, Bears and I were the only people that actually played the game at all.

*shrug* If 'the earlier the better', someone who really cared about wanting to play CS would've probably bought a CS board back at the end of 09, instead of waiting for a future console release. That or try to get CS into an arcade via petition/support, but that FAILED miserably for various reasons that I covered in a previous post. Or, you could even get an import copy of CS if you were so inclined and couldn't wait for a US localized copy instead. So, an arcade happens to get CS. Would people even go to the arcade to play CS once the console version dropped? This is in regard to a timeframe of a 1 month difference. Would there even be an arcade scene for the game, much less an offline scene in general? More importantly though, there is a lack of support for BB in Hawaii, IMO. There isn't much of a local BB scene here and AFAIK no one really is standing behind the game. Do people even post up in a Hawaii thread on a FG forum and talk about wanting to play BB? Doesn't seem like it on DL anyway and on SRK it's all about SSF4 stuffs, lol. Right now in Hawaii, you probably have some people who play BB casually and there isn't much of a competitive scene for the game either. There were some opportunities for a BB scene to develop and possibly flourish in Hawaii, but no one really supported the game or even took BB seriously. It is what it is. Look at the people who attended the session at King33's place: - King33, who mainly plays GG but dabbles in BB. - Bears, who mainly plays GG but somewhat dabbles in BB. - King33's friend, who mainly plays GG? - HVGL Jeff, who mainly plays SSF4, IIRC. - Mystic d, who plays BB and is on vacation in Hawaii for the summer. Where were the Hawaii people that mainly play BB? Nonexistent and not at King33's session. LOL.
-
My post was HYPE. LOL There's no BB scene in Hawaii, lol. IIRC, people barely played the game at HBB, HVGL events, and offline. IMO, there is no hype for BB in the 808. CS may change that though, if 808 FG players support the game this time around and form a scene via offline groups and online forum stuffs. Whatever, lol. Sounds like the session was hype. What, HVGL Jeff was there too and playing GG? Less dolphin spam, I hope? Sounds like you had fun at the session, and you played some GG as well. If you've got any Q's about GG stuff, just ask. Sup. Just post up when you are back on Oahu and available for some GG casuals. Yeah, I read about that upcoming Oahu vs Maui match in the Hawaii thread on TZ. They must give you shit if you bring up anything GG related, lol. I wonder if anyone even plays GG on Maui?
-
BB scene? In Hawaii? LOL AFAIK, barely anyone plays BB in general, much less offline. Shit, I don't think that many people that even play BB here in Hawaii know about DL and even post up in here. TBH, there's probably a small amount of people that play the game casually, possibly online more than offline. Sounds like you barely have any comp at all when you go down to play BB at either Leeward Bowl/HBB. Aren't you also just visiting for the summer as well? You'd think the local BB scene here would be open to having sessions and such... If only there was an active and existent scene here in Hawaii, lol. Hey, 808 BB players... If you exist and lurk this thread... Show up to King33's place to play your game, even though it may be short notice. Be thankful for this opportunity to play BB, cause King33 and Bears are taking valuable time off from playing GG to make this possible, also because they have some interest in BB as well. Don't pull an 'Ihpsta', LOL. I wish I could be there for GG casuals... Inter-island plane tickets are expensive. HVGL event / Kuro and Bears are playing some AH casuals. *HVGL guy sees AH being played* HVGL guy: Do you guys know how to play this game? *Kuro does Heart's IAD combos* *Bears does Lilica's combo stuffs* Bears: Yeah, we got this. HVGL guy: Oh... *HVGL guy walks away* AH isn't sad, BB is. LOL We're probably the only 2 people that actually even play AH and DB in the 808 as well. That 'petition' for CS was FAIL. Long story short: *March 2010* Wishful thinking guy: Hey guys, would you support a petition to get an arcade version of BBCS into Fun Works? Guy 1: Sure, I guess. Guy 2: Yeah, I'd play it. Guy 3: Sounds good. Highlights: - Only 4 people expressed some support for this. - AFAIK, nothing really came of it in the end as it was 'too little, too late' at the time. - The CS petition wasn't even posted up in here on the 808 thread on DL, only on the 808 SSF4 thread on SRK. WTF Conclusion: No real support for BB in general, much less an active BB scene here in Hawaii.
-
Don't skip my discussion points, lol. Why are you hoping for arcade CS when console CS comes out next month? Do people even play BBCT at HBB? 808 BB IS SADLIFE Question to the both of you: Are you hoping for some sort of BB scene to develop here in Hawaii? NOOOOO! I have yet to play you. When do you leave/Where are you going? If you leave, Bears won't have anyone on Oahu to play GG with anymore.
-
*logs onto DL* *sees that the forum is updated* What is this? /Barry Burton I haven't posted on here for 2 weeks. Barely any thread activity since then, lol. Highlights: - I've been playing MHFU hardcore in marathon sessions. - I haven't played any SSF4 lately, though I watch my friends play that game while I play MHFU, lol. - I actually got to play some GGAC against a friend a couple of days ago. And in an effort to make this thread somewhat active with discussion... What are your thoughts on: - MvC3 gameplay footage. - MK9 announcement + trailer. - BBCS console version with annoucement for DLC that will include new chars, besides the balance patches in the future. MvC3 stuff: Looks pretty good so far. Hopefully more chars get revealed soon. Dante looks pretty HYPE. For some reason, it would be pretty cool if on the CAPCOM side of the roster they feature some chars from some of their games that may hopefully hint at possible future games, like Regina from 'Dino Crisis' or Sieg Warheit from 'Chaos Legion', lol. MK9 stuff: The trailer looks promising, though my interest in MK in general is low. BBCS stuff: Yeah... BBCS console version: Some Assembly Required. version indeed.
-
FG stuffs from this past weekend. GG highlights: - Played some GG/. - #R Dizzy. - Did some 'Slash-style' relaunch combos with Millia. - Used kick specials in combos with Jam. - Dabbled a bit with ABA and Baiken. MB highlight: - Played some MBAA after not playing the game at all for the past month. SSF4 highlights: - Played a 6 hour session of S4 after already having stayed up for 24+ hours, again. - Used Chun Li and Rose in some later matches. I kinda like using them. - Jab Spamfest.
-
They were probably FREE, lol. I used to go bowling for fun. I like to play pool though. Anyone else play pool?
-
I'm guessing there wasn't anybody playing 3 of those games, lol. version
-
I don't see this happening in Hawaii. BB players here are probably only playing BB because: - BB = ez-mode. - They are too scared to play GG. - GG is SRS BSNS. LOL Options PS2 stick: HRAP 2 PS2>PS3 converter: Inpin PS3 stick: HRAP 3 or MadCatz SF4 TE FightStick Bears has both the Inpin converter for PS2>PS3 and the Xconverter for PS2>360. Ask him about it and try them out the next time you guys have a FG session or something.
-
RANDOM. LOL Have you tried playing as Makoto in SSF4?
-
I mainly play: - GGAC - MBAA I sometimes play: - AH I RANDOMLY play: - SSF4
-
How is it that I keep running into people, here in the 808, that want to play as Dizzy? LOL Yes, learn GG. If you have any Q's about GG stuff, just ask.
