Eddie: Has a summonable puppet that he can move around Carl: Has a puppet that he can move around Zappa: Conditionally has either a puppet, projectiles that haunt the opponent on hit, or improved attacks Arakune: Has projectiles that eventually curse the opponent "Eddie is more like Arakune" I get where you're coming from with negative edging, floating, and disappearing underground, but Eddie definitely plays more like a puppet master than a floaty aerial projectile blob thing like Arakune. Eddie might not be the best fit but he's more like Carl than Arakune.

That is precisely what "execution" means, so you are having problems with it. That's fine; I've played this game for years and I'm pretty shitty at some things, and Eddie's one of the harder characters mechanically in a game that's already pretty complicated. If you enjoy what Eddie's up to - and I do recommend you stick with him if you're looking for a puppet character, as he's much closer to that than Zappa is - all you can really do is grind it out until it's not awkward anymore.

Just re-watched those Shuuto matches. Has CH DAA --> combo always been a thing? I don't remember seeing it in AC videos.

12/11/12 Mikado Random 2on2 (filled in names where I noticed them, they weren't given in the descriptions) FA vs. Yaxl (AX) Yosuke (AX) vs. SO Yosuke (AX) vs. FA MI vs. Yaxl (AX) (Kuni really carries him this tournament) Yaxl (AX) vs. Kishimoto (DI)

Er, yeah, that's all I really meant it wasn't useful for. Sorry for not being clear on that.

It's tough to keep out confirmation bias, though. Example: Kliff is S-tier in one list and B-tier in another. Person A considers himself a savvy observer and says, "I knew Kliff was S-tier!" And I mean at the end of the day, we're all just going to go home and try to think about our match-ups anyway.

Man, I knew I shouldn't have asked about tier lists I see three flaws in this logic: 1) Given only that the tier list is listed as their opinion, it doesn't follow that that opinion was based solely upon that player's personal experiences. Dogura could have had long talks with other pros across Japan and Koichi could have formulated it all solo, for all we know, and in that case I think it's trivial whose tier list would be superior. 2) Even if acho players are on average not as good as Mikado players, it doesn't follow that acho players are bad or that information gathered at acho would be less valuable. 3) Even if Dogura's tier list is on average worse than Koichi's, it doesn't follow that Dogura's should be completely discarded. I guess what I'm saying is that whose tier list is better is a pretty pointless debate, given how little we know and how bad we all are at understanding this game. There's not actually a lot of useful information to be gleaned from tier lists anyway.

Not much coming in these days, but this video has some Yaxl in it. EDIT: This one has an unnamed Axl in it.

Guilty Gear FAQ Thread - Ask your questions here!
Silmerion replied to Kairi's topic in Guilty Gear General
You should totally post this as a tutorial in the beginner subforum and/or as an article. -
I mean, I agree with you that GG is categorically better offline, but good online play can only increase its popularity, and increased popularity can only benefit everyone. Of course local scenes are important and you should work to maintain them, but good online can only benefit us.

Looks like they agree on: S: Faust, Zappa A: Millia, Jam B: Eddie, Potemkin, Johnny, Order-Sol C: Ky, Venom, Testament D: Justice And they disagree strongly (difference of more than one tier) on Kliff and Anji. Cool! Looks like there's still a lot of room for the game to evolve. Exactly what I'd like to see after two months.
-
I wasn't aware people thought this. I mean he doesn't seem as quickly lethal as he was in AC, but he never seemed "bad."
-
I dunno if this question will get me punched in the face or not, but.... Has there been any credible discussion of tiers for AC+R yet? I mean like something that Arcadia put out, or at the very least a popular list on some Japanese BBS.

Triple Kliff: the nightmare scenario.
-
I dunno, EX Axl has a couple cool things going for him -command Rensen, FB Dust-slide-thing, tensionless upward Bomber, Housobako that always does the attack (which is how it works in AC+R). I suppose I agree that "vanilla" Axl is almost certainly better, though. EX characters have uneven power levels because they're not playtested - the developers add things they think might make for fun, silly extra characters, and sometimes those things trickle down into the real game later on.

This video has a bunch of Ruu in it, I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGh1CPkz__8&feature=plcp

1. Just play around until you find someone you think is cool! Seriously, no rush here. 2. You'll probably be fine. You might have a slightly harder time with some of the more advanced stuff, but in general I don't think you'll be too crimped. 3. Rote repetition. That's really all there is to it - eventually, it'll be muscle memory. 4. Not all that important. If you want to learn it it won't hurt you, but it's not as though it's a priority. 5. No, this is pretty much the place. 6. You're welcome!

Well, I was just thinking that we could use the DL group for random non-meaningful chatter about the character/community and the subforum exclusively for gameplay stuff (i.e. a Q&A thread, an FAQ thread, a general gameplay discussion thread, etc.).
-
Why not have a group right here, on DL? Like Tsubaki Yayoi General, that place is crazy active.
-
Oh, so it is. :|

Looks like Izuna from GG2: Overture. Because the P3 protagonist wasn't gender-specific (at least in Portable)?
-
Drill oki seems enormously risky if you're not careful with spacing - look at how much Amane gets punished in the videos I posted above. The animation is so long.
