  1. I don't think it's out yet, but it's the singles finals.
  2. I wouldn't take that vid to heart. You have to play differently against Baiken as a rule of thumb. You should watch the Blacksnake vs. Elvenshadow matches for a better idea of what he really plays like (those matches were siiickkkk). All I can say is: Kuro Hebi knows how to please that crowd.
  3. LOL I wouldn't mind trying mod status but I'm definitely not pro with Venom yet. Blacksnake is really, really on the ball with VE. I was there and watched the whole thing. His style isn't like anything I've seen before. It's super-aggressive and uses a lot of balls. If you've watched N-O...imagine if N-O was on the offensive all the time instead of zoning. It might be a bit unorthodox at times, but it looks really badass. I could try and ask him if he would like to mod these forums, but he doesn't really care much for them because our activity has always been shit.
  4. I am randomly at AI all throughout the week. A lot of times I end up playing against the computer for several hours which is pretty gay, but the food in the area is bomb so whatever. (lol I'm such a loser sometimes)
  5. Then I guess TK Divebomb whiff -> throw is good cause it won koogy 2 matches lawl
  6. I've noticed several things after playing a lot vs the CPU. They tend to block things normal humans wouldn't block and don't block everything else. Sometimes they'll go on super block streaks, super slashback streaks, or they'll beat out a lot of your moves. But most of the time they just get hit by stuff they shouldn't get hit by. I would only use training mode to get a feel for a new character and try out new combos. I would never, ever take anything I've learned from CPU match and implement it into my game. I know this because I can demolish CPU maniac and still lose to RL maniacs Oh yea, and the CPU doesn't really mix you up enough for me to consider playing against it "sparring".
  7. I believe that running away is better than actually rushing Chipp down (at least until you have him scared enough that you can pin him in a corner). It's really hard to hit him and you really need to get him with a 6P or 6HS but at the same time you don't want to commit to any pokes with super long recovery. And as Incoan says, your 5S and 2S are great for jabbing at him. Balls are your friend, run, warp, summon more. I don't have too much matchup experience against him, but I know that if you're standing around you're going to get mixed up really hard :/
  8. HE'S ALIVE! btw everyone should watch Zaido's CM if you haven't already.
  9. Seriously. Cool then! People don't be afraid post up strats on matchups they need help on or matchups they know really well. I'll create a new thread once we get things rolling and consolidate all the information (and hopefully get some proper modding going on here). We need more stuff though, so just write anything! Don't be shy!
  10. POTEMKIN is pretty damn close imo, but isn't well-rounded enough to be called S?
  11. Alright as part of revitalizing the VE forums, I'd like to start up some matchup discussion. First order of business: mofoing POTEMKIN. Yea, I said it. POTEMKIN. The POTEMKIN matchup is supposedly largely in our favor, should we do everything correctly and avoid being hit (that means backdashing or jumping from every Slidehead and not getting hit by random swings). What POTEMKIN does have going for him, much like Slayer, is his ability to deal an insanely large amount of damage off one connected hit... into a knockdown...into more mixup -.- . So no matter how perfectly you play, if you make two or more mistakes, it's very likely that those mistakes will cost you the match. So some points I'd like to discuss: - Zoning: is Venom's main tool against POTEMKIN. Fighting in close quarters is always a bad idea vs POTEMKIN, and you should even be wary of poking (extending your hitbox for free POTEMKIN buster!). I'd like to ask everyone what formations and how they move their character to avoid POTEMKIN's attacks while still providing ranged pressure. Keep the flick in mind. - Normals: Venom's normals are actually not that great in this matchup. 5S, one of our best poke-zoning tools, is beat out, and almost everything else falls short. - Any other tips or ways to deal with POTEMKIN are appreciated. Let's get some discussion going!
  12. 6P > 6HS > CR is technically *not* required to play Venom, but it's definitely an important tool in his arsenal for maximizing damage, especially off corner 6HS (counter hit or not) and corner throws. I think it is important, then, to at least practice 6P > 6HS > s.ball > 5S > FB DHM. It's solid damage (a little less than a single CR loop) and gets you the knockdown. If you want a setup instead of the damage off DHM, go ahead and replace with a dubious curve setup of you choice (that is, 6P > 6HS > s.ball > 5S > x.dubious). Common corner setups are H>K, S>K, K>P, and HS>S. Each have different purposes and followups (especially regarding the second ball). If you're not comfortable with two-ball setups, go ahead and s.dubious curve and 5K dash in. Oops sorry for the tangent. I'm sure you know most of this, but it's useful information for people who can't do the 6P > 6HS > CR yet.
  13. Thanks Klaige. Another thing I'd like to point out is that Venom is also one of those characters that you can't just learn with half a heart (if you want to be strong with him, anyways). If you want to be super broken at this game without the effort, play Potemkin. As long as you have the willpower to play and lose as well as the drive to constantly learn and pick up new tricks, Venom will be a huge payoff. Always be observant, especially for new setups. Every Venom plays differently. This is not an exaggeration, so there is always something new to learn.
  14. Hey guys, I'd like to get the ball rolling for the Venom forum. I know a bunch of people start Venom then immediately drop him because they feel like it's going to be too much work. Good news, learning the character is easier than you think! Bad news, playing the character effectively and fluidly is what will be fettering your ability to truly shine with him. If anyone has any questions, observations, or stuff they'd like to share about their Venom journeys, post em here. Talk about something is better than talk about nothing...that and I hate how dead-silent this forum is. Shit.
  15. Hey Hellmonkey, I'm trying to learn bacon so... Can I please have organized matchup informations? Like, compile all of it and list it all out on the first page? Please also list all frame data and correct matchup ratios and counters. Thanks. EDIT: OMG NVM, I JUST FOUND THE SEARCH BUTTON LOL

    Character Types

Yea, but he really doesn't have that many opportunities to unleash it. Ground combos go 100+ damage and aircombos go 130-300+ damage. Most air combos happen off of anti-airs. Even though his pokes are amazing, his opponent has to be afraid for the mixup to come in. Otherwise, he's pretty easy to keep out.
  18. I've been slacking on casuals. It seems like not enough people ever want to come at the same time >.<
  19. Yea, we have lots of people here. For more information on the latest gatherings and tournaments, check out the GG Socali Accent Core thread over at SRK.
  20. Yup. You should add an advanced "setups" section. N-O has so many zoning and okizeme formations it scares me...and he never uses the same one twice in a round. Try and find as many setups as you can!
  21. hahha. It's always entertaining to watch R.F. v N-O. And yea, maybe the Youtube comment was right, N-O is like: "WHAT, NOT MY TEAMMATE!? DIE!!!" at least he has Dogura (fucking godly :O ).
  22. Villainous pretty much nailed it. I will help emphasize the anti-airing part - watch her closely and you will see many, many opportunities to 2S her out of the air and into a 50%+ aircombo. Another thing that stops puffball is 6P, but you have to do it in anticipation (or react if she's full screen).
  23. Epic. To compensate for not having a "carpet" move while using Venom, I have to sing "A WHOLE NEW WORLD!" every time I Dark Angel. And yes, I am gunning for my gold bursts.
  24. Seriously. I mean, there's an obvious reason why Kami-chan spams that thing.
