  1. Must every conversation end with you flying somewhere to beat somebody up?
  2. Ask and you shall learn. Reading the guide on the first page of the Venom Accent Core Thread might help with that too.
  3. It really depends on the type of Anji you're playing against. There are those that love to spam fuujin and those that are deathly afraid of spamming fuujin. The ones that are deathly afraid of spamming fuujin you can make pretty quick work of, but it's a challenge getting there in the first place. Honestly, it all comes down to how good the Anji player is at reacting to the holes in your pressure and punishing your ass with fuujin. You, on the other hand, must recognize those situations and bait fuujin. The matchup is pretty much in Venom's favor because Anji always has to take risks to get in on you. - You want to start the game by zoning. Utilize single ball formations and your far slash to keep Anji at bay. At some point, he'll try to super jump towards you. Never summon two balls at the same time unless you score a knockdown, cause that jump will always score him a counterhit. When that time happens, be ready with your 6P to score an anti-air. After the anti-air, don't worry about setting up into pressure unless you know he won't retaliate with fuujin. Instead, set up zoning formations and start spamming the screen with balls. I tend to use HS ball and warp a lot to escape his ghetto pressure before it even reaches me. - When you want to go on the offensive, utilize more crossups to mess up his guard points and fuujins. Note that once the Anji player becomes more experienced in the matchup, every string that you end with either Dubious Curve or Stinger Aim or Carcass Raid CAN be reaction fuujined. That's why I prefer zoning for pretty much the entire match and only going for pressure after I've got them scared. - Fuujin itself has some things you should take note of. There is a window of invincibility between its startup and before it finishes. With this in mind, you can throw out early 2Ds and 6HSs (or even a throw at that) to stuff it, but I wouldn't recommend doing so. Baiting fuujin can be done by proper warping. Another way to bait fuujin is to end a string with a cancelled Carcass Raid. Lastly, I like to leave balls lying around and go in for fake pressure, then Warping out after a short blockstring to try and draw out that fuujin. - Anji's ground normals are pretty decent. Note that his 6P can straight out beat your 5S(f), so be wary when spamming that. Other guardpoint normals can be very annoying, which is why I spend most of the match jumping around, hitting balls forwards and backwards, and trying to catch him with an anti-air. Fat chance beating him in the air. Both his j.S and j.D will stuff out almost anything you have. You'll need to utilize 6P very well here since the move will generally stuff all of Anji's air-to-grounds. The matchup is a lot like how you'd play vs any other character with a dragon punch. Just be smart and cover your ass when you have gaps in pressure.
  4. I concur with N-O's assessment. Once the I-No understands how to play the matchup, it becomes infinitely harder for Venom. The reason the ratio stays so relatively close is because both characters have terrible reversal options and whoever scores a knockdown and can keep momentum will most likely take the match. I'll see what Mr. Placeholder Man has to say first before I chime in on personal experience and matchup nuances.
  5. That would be Chinese area, starting from Diamond Bar and beyond. And lol Jonhova, <-----MCR We totally missed each other that one week where you had days off work. Doh!
  6. Yea hang out with the cool kids imo. NorCal has Scott....and Fred....yea.
  7. Thanks for the correction, Render! Ditto what your observations are about Ren. Definitely solid, but Buppa really is still THE Jin. Also, big update to main thread. I don't know if I'm going to go farther back than January, since those videos are a bit out-dated (both combo and strategy-wise).
  8. For sure if you're comfortable with your DP timing between Chain Revolver attacks, go for it. I was directing the question more at people who don't know what Noel's drive moves are capable of - just block and wait for her to finish her drive attacks (can only go up to 5) and punish her reload animation. For those who don't know, her Chain Revolver overheads are 6B (axe kick) and 2D (arcs in the air, guns flaming). Anyways, other questions: which pokes are prized in this matchup?
  9. Um, if she does drive on you while you're blocking, can't you just wait the drive out then punish her reload recovery?
  10. Everyone kept saying that KO1 was too cheap with his Chemical Love FRC mixups and threw vegetables and eggs at him so he became sad and played Millia instead.
  11. 1. Venom's best air-to-air normals are j.P and j.D. However, the chances that you'll beat Dizzy's j.HS is very slim, so you will have to rely on ground anti-airs (still risky) to beat her out. Venom's j.D is a very strong move to use to jump up and hit people at the apex of their jumps, since the hitbox is in Venom's upper-portion. j.P on the other hand isn't the best air-to-air, but it's all we got and it's decently fast, just don't expect it to beat, say, Sol's j.P :P 2. FB Mad Struggle is generally not used in the air (there are a few combos with it, but I'd stay away from those for now). To dash after TK FB Mad Struggle, start hitting 66 right as Venom stops jabbing with his pool stick. The timing is a bit strict, just remember to do it early and not late. (advanced use of air FB Mad Struggle - baiting Baiken P counter or little Eddie S) 3. Nope that's what Dark Angel is for. Even though it grants you mixup opportunities, the primary functions of Dark Angel are to burn your opponents guard and meter and push them into the corner where you can begin your lockdown. If you do the Dark Angel too late or too far, your opponents will be able to jump out of it, so make sure you time it well. 4. Air throwing is something that will come with time. Basically your opponent has to be right above you as you jump up for the throw, but you'll begin to see situations where this will happen in the future. Since they nerfed air-throw range, you can't just do it for free anymore, you have to actually know when they're going to try and escape or air dash over you. The most common scenario to watch out for is when they try to air dash out of the corner, so keep that in mind. 5. If you're not confident with the Carcass Loop off of a throw, you can just go for a Tri-ball setup or a Dubious Curve setup (easier). That is: Tri-ball format: throw > 6P > 6HS > P,S,or D.ball > 66 6HS > X.ball > 66 X.ball Tri-ball combo for continued pressure: throw > 6P > 6HS > P.ball > 66 6HS > S.ball > 66 HS.ball > 5P Dubious Curve format: throw > 6P > 6HS > X.dubious > X.ball For midscreen continued pressure: throw > 6P > 6HS > S.dubious > P.ball > 66 5K For corner okizeme: throw > 6P 6HS > HS.dubious > K.ball > and mixup however you want 6. Don't attack when the circle is out. Avoid it all costs. If she does the slow one, however, you can just throw her out of the recovery animation. Utilize your far slash to stuff run ins and capitalize on Venom's 6P and 6HS to zone. 7. The followup to 2D depends on hit or block. NEVER summon a Dubious Curve off a 2D on hit because they can tech out of it. On hit you can cancel to FB Double Head Morbid or just summon a ball or two. On block, canceling to Dubious Curve is fine. As for using 2D in a blockstring itself, 2D is at the very end of Venom's gattling tree (meaning you can't gattling into any more of his normals), but it is special cancellable. To break recovery animation and to avoid pushback, most Venom's cancel into Stinger Aim or Carcass Raid to continually pin the opponent down. Learning to FRC the Stinger Aim allows you to rush back in and pressure seamlessly, so I suggest you learn that soon! 8. Block. Venom has literally no reversal options, so just FD and DAA. Read what I wrote abotu the Millia matchup a few posts back. 9. Using 6HS is a huge commitment. It's special cancellable, so on block you can at least summon a ball. However, if you whiff, you're in big trouble. 6P is much better because it has upper-body invulnerability and can lead to some damaging combos or elaborate setups. If anything, I would focus more on practicing your 6P timing, because it's much less of a risk than 6HS. A common thing you see Venom's do is summon lots of balls, hit them, then force your opponent to take the air route. That's when you can start 6Ping. If they start baiting your 6Ps, just dash under them instead and keep summoning balls from the other side of the screen. Hope this helps!
  12. Isamu's setup (for people who would like to know specifically) is: launch or throw > K.Dubious > S.ball > 2S > HS.Dubious > S.ball Off of this setup you can dash-jump > j.S and use the balls behind you in a Stinger Aim once you land to carry on your pressure for free, or you can backdash > 2P then continue your ground pressure. The setup allows for a bunch of variety in mixups and messes with your opponent's head. When anyone sees that many balls, they're going to block. And to preemptively answer this question, the trick to performing this setup is making sure you summon the S.Ball after K.Dubious ASAP.
  13. @Taco You can only do the tensionless Dubious Curve loop off of an airborne opponent (that is S.Dubious > 2S xN). Common setups for this begin with 5S.c(x3) and 6HS. However, if you want to loop off of a 5H or something of that sort, you'll need to FRC the first Dubious Curve. The best time to use the loop is when your opponent still has burst or if you need to finish them off. The reason I say this is because Dubious Curve builds a huge amount of burst gauge for your opponent, so keep that in mind. edit: faulty beat me to the punch :P
  14. This thread is for any videos related to Jin Kisaragi and all video-related discussion. Top player Jins to look out for: Buppa (ぶっぱ), Nise Pachi (偽パチ), and Ren (レン). If you are unsure of where to find match videos, search either Youtube or Nicovideo for Jin Kisaragi (ジン) tags. Heidern98: So as opposed to splitting threads, I am just going to post all relavent links in the beginning post so people don't have to search for the relevant stuff. 15. IM STILL HERE! I'm down to play any day of the week. GOGOGOGOOGOGGOo. edit: Kevin can I come over Saturday?
  16. ... you disgust me.
  17. 1) That's actually an old combo that isn't used much anymore. If you hit with 5HS you'll generally want to go into a Dubious Curve setup. However, if you need to kill someone with a ground combo, 5HS can go into Stinger Aim (either version) FRC > dash > 2S > whatever. The key is in the dash buffering (6 FRC 6) of the Stinger Aim. There shouldn't be any problems since connecting with 5HS leaves a short distance to cover after the Stinger Aim FRC to connect your next hit. 2) 5S.c > 5HS > S.Carcass Raid is not a combo that is currently used. If I were to take an educated guess, I would assume that you're asking about 6P > 6HS > S.Carcass Raid (which just happens to be the reason why people decide against playing Venom lol). The timing is difficult at first, but I assure you that once you get it down it'll be cake. The trick is to start charging [3] immediately after you hit 6HS, then hit 9S JUST as Venom's pool stick becomes parallel to the floor (during the 6HS animation). It takes lots and lots of practice, and even then, pros still mess up the combo in real matches quite often. 3) Didn't know that was called the "Mosaic Technique", but that's cool to know.
  18. We need to never forget the power that is 6k, 2hs x N!
  19. nice, gonna check it out. always fun reading your stuff.
  20. No joke. Maybe I came off the wrong way. I wasn't trying to complain so much as I was just trying to make a statement. I love Slayer for the same reason you guys do - badass character, practical (and insanely good) normals, ridiculous damage, and the ability to win without actually having to break a sweat. I just don't want anyone denying the fact that he can be pretty dumb and many times has no right winning the matches that he does. But I think CrimsonDisaster nailed it on the head: Tougeki '08 was proof lawl
  21. /sigh. That SO AND SO's counter hits do a little too much damage and make me die a little inside.
  22. Oh my god if you've seen the matches I've seen. The CH's were literally out of fucking nowhere, and R.F dominated for 30 seconds and lost in 5. And don't give me the haterade lecture, I used to play Slayer. Also, you, as a Slayer player, shall give me none of that. You know how ridiculous he gets.
  23. jiyuna is a troll. his wife works at ralphs. he loves avocado smoothies and pho.

  24. lol wut. I guess. I don't really pay attention when I play Slayer...I sorta just...do things. Also, Tsujigawa trademarks is always using his meter for supers. He loves DHD. I actually see Supike use more dandy tricks than Tsujigawa does. And of course, Hase always goes for the fatty, lengthier combos. I don't go out of my way to watch a lot of Slayer vids anymore though, cause it's really a lot of bullshit :/ I feel bad for R.F. cause every week he tries so hard and plays perfectly, but then just gets random CH'd into oblivion by Slayers.
