I've never noticed a specific timing needed, just hit them with 5B as soon as you can.

FUCK YOU NIGGA

TD pretty much hit the nail on the head. For the largest part since you're still learning the character, just worry about having 'safe' blockstrings and trying to fit in 6A]m[, 4D[m], throws and lows into your strings. It's very hard to give a canned blockstring for Litchi because she has a staggering amount of offensive options with variances in usability. If you are going for blockstrings though, try to set the staff down in your pressure (if you have it) safely, Litchi's staffless pressure is worlds stronger. You gain access to things like 5B 2A, your 6A, 6B, 5C and others are no longer a hard commitment and you gain a slew of jump-cancelable normals.

It's extremely difficult to block all the possible mixups you can run during Kokushi because some of the options are borderline unreactable to human reflexes and some (such as a fuzzy) are 100% guess work on your opponent's part. It is scary to block, it's difficult to block, even top japanese players can't block it all every time. Take advantage of your characters strengths, this is how you win.

Regardless of that working or not, you would not be low enough for the combo to still work. Airdashing too early will cause it to drop since you or your opponent will be too high after Hatsu.

CH 6B[m] > 6D > Hatsu > Haku > Chun > Haku > Hatsu > RiichiA > IppatsuA > Tanki Hatsu > 5D (slight hold before release) > 6A > 6Bfeint > staff2 > 6D > 3C > 2D > dash 6C > 6D > 3C There's a cleaner notation for you, make sure you delay 5D after Tanki Hatsu long enough so that your 6A doesn't whiff below the enemy.

The BB Community, EVO, Netplay, and the FGC.

I'm sure some people from PNW BB scene (C0R, huey253, ??) would be willing to do this, myself included. -

There are some great ideas in this thread that could easily be put to use, people just need to spearhead it for their respective scenes/areas EVO is bordering pretty close on "e-sports", money is a big deal and people need to realize that and accept it. BB doesn't have the turnout (#anime) that other games do, this isn't EVO's fault. It's all of ours. also nice league of legends reference in your post alan -
Hold D for a slight few frames before releasing it, that way Litchi will have recovered closer the time of D connecting. Ground and TK both work, just use ground chun for now.
-
At what point in the combo are you trying to do it at? There's no real trick so it's possible you're invoking repeat proration during your combo or proration is too low for Haku > Chun to connect.
-
That's a much safer confirm though, should probably use that 100%.

Lol, happens every game. Come up with stuff, 1 week later there's new stuff that's better -_-

Staff Hold Low Option: Mynus' Combo in video - 3488 Damage, 47 Meter. Best available damage. Staff Hold Low Option 2D: Mynus' Combo in Video - 3857 Damage, 47 Meter. Best available damage. Staff Hold High Option: Mynus' Combo in Video - 2764 Damage, 40 Meter. Best available damage. Staff Hold Throw Option: Mynus' Combo in Video - 2912, 43 Meter (release staff slightly later, you can get both hits and not hurt the combo) Best available damage. Notes: The reason staff hold mixups are weaker is due to the proration from staff1/2. Rising j.C will only strike Relius while he is in his crouchblock animation. If he is simply crouching, j.C will whiff 100%. None of Litchi's jcable ground normals remedy this. This isn't too big of an issue due to most players on the defensive holding downback rather than down. 2D set will yield the same combo as 5D set regarding the instant overhead option in my previous post. They are interchangeable. This list isn't final and since the game is still pretty new I'm not entirely sure if this is truly optimal, but I'm sure it's close. Remember, credit goes to mynus for finding/posting these setups.

Low Option #1: Character specific route: 5D 5A 3C(STARTER) staff2 Haku Chun 5B 6D(2) Hatsu RiichiA IppatsuA Tanki Hatsu 5D 6A 6 staff2 6A 6B 6D(2) 3C 5D 6C(2) 6D 3C - 3832 Damage, 57 Meter Non specific route: 6A 6 staff2 dash 2C 4D dash under 5B 6C(1) 4kote j.B dj.BCD j.C 6A - 3769 Damage, 52 Meter High Option #1: Character-Specific Route: 5D 2A 6A(STARTER) staff2 6B 2C 6D(2) Hatsu RiichiA IppatsuA Tanki Hatsu 5D 6A 6 6A 6B 6D(2) 3C 5D 6C(2) 6D(2) 3C - 3006 Damage, 54 Meter. 2C 4D Route (non-char specific) does not work due to proration, instead do the combo shown in mynus' video. 3113 Damage, 47 Meter. Character specific route guarantees Kokushi oki, non-char specific does not. Rising j.C option (Haku, Relius, Tager REQUIRES 50 METER): Mynus Combo in video - 3795 Damage, 34 Meter 5D j.C RC j.CB 2C 6D(2) Hatsu RiichiA IppatsuA Tanki Hatsu 5D 6A 6 6A 6B 6D(2) 3C 5D 6C(2) 6D(2) 3C - 3669 Damage, 42 Meter 5D j.C RC j.CB 2C 6D(2) Hatsu Haku Chun Haku Chun RiichiA IppatsuA Tanki Hatsu 6A 6 6A 6B 6D(2) 3C 5D 6C(2) - 3927 Damage, 45 Meter but no staffless oki Throw Option #1: Mynus' Combo in video - 3365 Damage, 44 Meter. Best possible meterless damage available.

Great finds! I'd like to point out though for terminology clarification to avoid confusion, that the fuzzy option isn't a "fuzzy". Relius can be hit by rising j.C regardless of being in standing blockstun or not. I'll get some meter data for these and see if you can squeeze out some more damage tomorrow.

I probably could have worded my post a little better, optimal doesn't necessarily mean infallible, just your strongest option(s) at that point in time. Having multiple strong options (and factoring in human error along with anticipating the answer to your options) is what allows matches to be so different from eachother. I agree that there are many uncertainties during matches, people handle this differently and that's the main difference in people's playstyles. (How do I handle neutral game? How will I risk getting out of pressure?) You can be creative. New setups, tricks, gimmicks, they're all creative things and have their uses, I agree. There IS only so much you can do, but due to the vast amount of options most characters and players can create keep most humans being able to read them all the time. My biggest point is that, there is a reason creativity is an underappreciated area of discussion due to the fact that improving on your fundamentals, game knowledge and playing more solid with less mistakes is far more likely to grant you victory. Obviously the point of exception here is creativity that actually shows long-term practicality.
-
There are a finite amount of things you can do in FGs (or games in general actually where you cannot change the fundamental options and the number of them in the game). It's not an art-form, human creativity cannot shine through like it can in other things. Yes, you can be innovative and have your tricks but generally they wind up just being tricks. There will always be optimal options, optimal ways to play a match-up, etc. Don't get me wrong, having creativity is great and is also a sign of being flexible, but if your playstyle and tricks aren't granting you victory, you need to change it or improve it. Optimizing your play and knowledge is the best and most effective way to do so. The best edge to have over your opponent is to be adaptable, and to learn fast, not creativity, imo.

probably one of the worst things i've seen written on this board so far star-demon: i haven't watched the vids since I don't really have the time right now, but rather than continuously working on challenge mode combos try your hand at the BnBs listed here on the forums
