  1. Finance. Shit is cash. Literally. Poster looks awesome, imo. I agree with the others that the face needs a bit of reworking, but I think it's awesome as-is. Maybe adding in some extra stuff to make it more descriptive and some colour to bring out the hype would be good, but I wouldn't change the actual design. ----- Btw, I'm not sure if it's open to the public, but on the 12th of Nov., John Molson will be holding the John Molson Stock Exchange contest. It's a simulated trading pit contest where students from all over Canada will compete to rape make money off the participants. I'll be competing, naturally. In the event it's open to anyone and everyone, I think it costs $50 for the whole day, lunch and dinner included, so you guys would be welcome if you're interested. Get hype.
  2. Cap Am got dat package. Not sure if it's enough to make America proud, though. ----- > Gets 80% on an exam. > Didn't study. Damn, I love having found my field, shit just comes naturally.
  3. MTLSF is mentioned in this week's issue of The Link (one of Concordia's newpapers). Good shit. Nini, I am disappoint. That is not the way of the Sophisticate.
  4. You'll notice he lands first. TK Hotaru -> land -> IAD j.2c -> etc. I prefer eschewing the second 2c for a 5a myself, makes it much easier.
  5. What I like most about it is that it still does 3k off a 2a. Hell yeah.
  6. I thought I'd be 120% certain for NEC, but some stuff happened and now it's dropped to 70%. I also don't know what my finals schedule is like so that's still up in the air. :\ Exam crunch time for me, so no meets for a while (not like I come at all, lol).
  7. No, it's the look. I could never get used to it, I just stay limp. Give me Latino, Spanish, Arabic or whatever, no problem, but I can't do African for some reason. It's like I'm not genetically wired for black women, I just don't find them attractive. MTL's hella diverse, though, so it's cool. You want a nationality, you just have to pick and you're set. Go cruisin' and you're bound to find gold.
  8. Count me among the interested. There's a high chance I'll be subbing Relius when he's out. As for playstyle, he seems less focused on resets and traps than Carl and more about the full-on rape once he gets an opening. Like any great surgeon, he has to be "hands on" and directly apply his tools. So from vids I can see him as a character that tries to control the space around his opponent, then pick them apart with high-dmg combos once a hit confirm sets in. Just like the master puppeteer he is, he controls the flow of the game once his opponent is in his effective field.
  9. I dunno why, but black women turn me off with a couple rare exceptions. More for you guys, I guess.
  10. Hey, PM if you need someone to talk to. We all have rough patches.
  11. Ouch! ----- Though that reminds me of that time I got called a pedo myself. I was at this party, see, and I tried chatting up a group to see what's up. Thing is, the girl I started talking to got all flustered and started half-shouting "oh! agh! PEDO! Ya un pedo icitte!" I mean, shit, how was I to know she was 15? They all look like they're 20! I was half-drunk too! D: Anyway, her boyfriend then comes along and he's this pretty buff guy who was taller than I was and he's all "yo, you don't touch her man. That's not cool, right? Can't do that, man. Can't do that." All the while some guys I knew were in the background laughing their asses off. FML. D: *Cough* Err... All that to say good luck on your midterms guys! I have my first one today! :D
  12. Meh, the only counter ever worth mashing was CS1 j.D. shit was free damage. I've otherwise never felt counters to be more than high-risk / mid/low-reward tools. They're mostly just there to deter overly predictable or gung-ho opponents. However, it should be said that if you are particularly skilled at using counters, that alone reduces the risk. Experience alone accounts for the large part of your success in the use of counters. It's not because we say it shouldn't be used that it shouldn't, just that these tools aren't worth it to us. Maybe they fit your playstyle more, and you'll do really well with them. Just expect to spend a lot of time getting down the timing and reading your opponent's patterns.
  13. You can: - Hop after them. Also sets up Hotaru. - Gurren/Kishuu. - Jump/Sj. in/out. - IAD to cross up. - Stay put. And from there set up your atk/def. Each option depends on the character (different backdash values... don't hop into a backdashing Tager, lol) and your playstyle.
  14. 6a proration is .85 p1, and .89 p2. The proration's fine if they didn't change it going into CSEX. EDIT: I should have just checked Spark's new proration data thread instead. ._.; Yes, p values are the same, and there is .1 repeat proration. However, repeat p should be meaningless to this discussion as 2x 6a makes any combo unusable. We've clearly seen combos with 6a in the middle being used, so it works.
  15. Count me out for today, got exams I haven't studied for yet, lol. Guys, take it from me that acing exams has NOTHING to do with being successful. The real exam you have to study for is whatever it is you really want to do. For everything else, aim for 60% so as not to waste precious time on stupid courses. It's what I've done, and I expect to be a multi-trillionaire in 200 years. :D
  16. The move itself has an advantage on block, so TK/hop makes no difference. About first/last frame, that's irrelevant. In the heat of the moment, you won't care where Hotaru's done so long as it hits. Practice executing the move itself consistently instead.
  17. It indeed seems you are cursed! :O
  18. ... Why'd you quit? Money's money, dude.
  19. > Has to study. D: Nooooo, why'd you post that? My hair was terrible back then. I can assure all non-MTLers my coiffe is much more respectable this time around. Dang it, man. Ruining my rep as the man of class... Come to Montreal! We do have a pretty damn good scene here, I have to admit. Let's make it last, guys. We have something good going here, can't let it go to waste.
  20. Dang it, guys. And I could show up for once! The state of permanent rust is unending... Well, ok, I've got my own midterms to take care of and other projects too so I'll be Dodging if everyone's doing the MTL staple. Btw, I'm about to go and get my passport done for NEC. Everyone who doesn't have it and wants to go needs to get it done NOW!! It takes at least 2-3 weeks, so need get on it asap.
  21. I'm going, should be there around 5-6pm or so. I can also stay relatively late since I don't work Fridays anymore. :3
  22. Hell yeah, I like where this is going. Come to MTL, people. It's where the party's at.
  23. What I mean is that his proration curve took a big hit going into CS2 with reduced dmg across the board save for high p1 starters. In this version, although his dmg is ameliorated, I've noticed his avg dmg mid-screen is ~3k when this was ~4k just in CS1. Even if you spent extra stars to boost this dmg, it would be subject to severe diminishing returns that curb his burst dmg potential. For example, just in CT I recall doing something like 5c -> Zan -> 5c -> Dustloop dished out ~5.5k+ alone right there. So if you wanted to deal a large amount of instant dmg, you could just spend more stars and you got it. Now, the focus is more centered on efficient use of stars and there's almost no burst dmg unless the conditions are right for it. They took the control of dmg slightly out of your hands in favour of a more strategic/streamlined approach. While good for a more consistent playstyle, it lacks the hype/wildcard factor of CT Haku. New Haku = Algorithm smoothed, statistically streamlined, and quantitatively optimized version at the expense of icky and barbarous outlier factors noobs hate. It's like a new industry when it's first discovered; it's very unstructured at first, but as it matures, it prefers dudes with MBAs and Ph.Ds over people with talent... lol
