The only things I could do to face a braindead Mu would be to sit down at the station and challenge them or accept when they sit down at mine. I could see this being an "incredibly stupid thing" if I had prior knowledge of their character/playstyle, but otherwise I'd say it's chance. As far as easily stuffing a 5C, the only normals I have with that range are my 5C/6C and the startups are a little lacking to go against Mu's 5C. Like I said, I'm not having problems fighting them, I just dislike the nature of their combos. No offense to anyone that plays them as I know there are skilled individuals that do so.

I think the main thing that got me was the full screen rocket punch. I have never seen someone use it, so it completely threw me off. GGs though. That character...haha.
-
I'm not saying it's a problem fighting against them. I just feel like the character is braindead. I usually do decently. I just want to quit the game when I see it on the screen.

I dislike the character of Noel (and Jin), but what really get's me is just the braindead combos. I feel the same way about Mu though...run up 5C/j.2C spam > face roll > 4k+. I know people choose characters for so many different reasons, but I find it so hard to respect them afterwards. I feel like I should play them in Stylish mode.

GGs to Koopa. It was a great set. Some parts I'm proud of, some not. Very good Hakumen. It was a lot of fun. I wish the connection was better.

Kokonoe banned from Rebel Up tournament series
BloodWolF replied to TAI-X's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
I wish I could upvote this into an upward oblivion. -
This is why I usually pass after I've gone through a room once. I doubt everyone wants to fight me/watch me fight forever. That said, I am sure there are people who were itching for a rematch..only to find that they have to wait a little longer. I guess you can't please everyone.

This confuses me. Is this how you actually play..."competitively"? If you're having to lie to people just so you can win to get your rocks off, I think you should find a different hobby...perhaps one that doesn't involve other people. I'm sure that I'm not alone in feeling that the best feeling in this or any fighting game is when you're against a very skilled, equally matched opponent. When you both know what cards the other guy has to play with and the game evolves from mashing buttons to a 100mph game of chess. If you can't enjoy PLAYING the game, then you're in the wrong place. I know it feels so much better to win at a tournament after a set of great matches than to win because you lied/hid information. It seems like a shallow win to me. If you're willing to do dishonest things like that so you can walk around gloating about being "da bes" (I'm not sure how people spell that.), then you need to get your life in order, because you're obviously failing somewhere else and trying to compensate with a false sense of importance. I'd rather take my Nu into a Koko fight, give it hell, and lose. At least then, I'd be playing at my best and challenging myself, playing a game I really enjoy.

Quick question for the pad users. When I played GG before BB came out, I was solely on a pad. That was the ps2, so the shoulder buttons are very shallow and have quick action. I'm seeing you guys choosing to use the trigger style R2/L2 buttons which have a deeper action for things like RCs and things that you need instantly and at a precise timing while leaving your L1/R1 buttons (the shallow ones) unbound. Is there a reason for this? It may be me, but the trigger buttons on the DS3 are the only things I dislike about the controller vs the DS2.

TLDR: god gene, gaijin, it's all the same game.

I agree wholeheartedly.

There is a discussion about koko because she's an outlier in dlc characters due to her abilities, not the fact that she's dlc. This isn't the first time there has been dlc characters in a fighter (or even BB for that matter), so that fight has already been fought and the final verdict determined. Perhaps it's just a matter of how people see money. I come from a very poor environment, so I don't look down on the value of a dollar. However, this is a game I play a lot and enjoy playing at a higher level. So WHEN I get the money, spending it on something that will help me enjoy it more seems like a viable option. I just bought Koko two days ago because that is how long it took me to get the extra cash. Overall, spending 100+ dollars on a game I play as much as I do this one is quite a good deal considering. People will complain the same way about buying a new version 1+ years later, but it's still a steal if you play and enjoy the game. That money also goes to the people who will go on to make more games that I enjoy. I can understanding being stingy with cash when you're in hard times, but the shit is made to be traded for services/etc. that make you enjoy life, so spend it wherever you want.

I played Dizzy in GG. When they announced BB, I looked over the characters and couldn't see any that really jumped out at me. I was going to skip the game for the most part until they announced Nu and Hakumen. I immediately fell in love with the design and gameplay of Nu, picked up the game on release, and haven't looked back.

Then don't buy her. The community has decided as a majority that we enjoy the variety of characters to both play as and against in tournaments. So that's the way things run. If it's not worth the money, don't buy the character. However, complaining to the rest of the community about how our priorities aren't the same as yours is just childish. We're not telling you you have to do anything. If you want, you can spend some of those offline matches you travel to for yourself practicing against a koko offline. I don't play any of the new characters. I've played the same one since the launch of CT, but I still buy all of the DLC WHEN I CAN because it's worth it to me to practice against all of the characters. I enjoy going into the game knowing my options. If it's not worth it to you, then don't buy them and don't let it get your panties in a twist. That's why it's OPTIONAL DLC. Look at your priorities and act accordingly.

BBCP PSN Tournament (January 26th, 2014 @ 3PM)
BloodWolF replied to MastaToken's topic in BlazBlue Online Play
That's the spirit Candy. You're not losing anything by playing in it and just think of it as more practice. I'll jump in as well. PSN: LBLOODWOLFL Location: Indianapolis, Indiana -
As a Nu player, I still get a decent amount of RQs and hate-mail usually with the tone of "Your character is cheap/I hate your fcking character/etc.", so you're not alone in the hate of playing certain characters, and you're correct in that this game is for fun. If you're not enjoying it, then there isn't a reason for it to be in your console or to go to pay to go play someone in it competitively. If you're going to play it competitively, then you don't need us to tell you how important MU experience is. Ironically for me, the MUs I dislike are not necessarily the ones that are horrible for me. Tao, Valk, Jin, and Kokonoe for me are really bad, but I don't mind playing a Valk or a Tao vs a Jin or Kokonoe. Certain characters like Jin,Ragna, Noel, Kokonoe, Terumi, just leave a bad taste in my mouth after the match. I mean no disrespect to those who play those characters, but that's just how I feel. My approach is a little different though. I think if I play them enough, perhaps their "derpiness" won't bother me as much, so I try to do that. Now as a pet peeve. I guess one of mine would be people who say that people "aren't worth their time" or "don't deserve to play them" because the other person is a "scrub". I can understand that there are cases where the other guy is really bad and NOT willing to learn, but that's usually not the case. I also understand that you want to spend the time you have playing people who have played to your understanding of the game, thus getting more out of it for your time. However, I don't think this merits putting yourself on a pedestal and treating those who are still learning like garbage. Why not give em a few rounds and let give it their all so they can both benchmark their progress and gain some replays to review. I think this goes for those who will instantly switch to their subs or play only one round with their main and switch..as if to use the notmymain/wonwithasub option-select. Again, not always the case as people still need sub experience, however give the people a go at the meat and potatoes too.

I have honestly only fought a handful of Noels in CP, so that would probably work very well, TD. Once I get some MU experience with her, I'm sure things will be fine. I'll have to wade through the Jins next time I'm in the lobby and see if there is a Noel on.
-
I think Toan means that we can't throw out swords without worry of a punish. If we throw a 5D and they 2D over that, there's no way we'll recover in time. We are going to eat a CH combo most likely. Swords are usually a decent investment as they have bad cooldown time so a miss can hurt like hell. The amount of invulnerable frames in her drives makes her a real pain to shoot at. I love seeing a drive go right through her only to be slammed into the wall and destroyed.

GGs Tesnolgic. I haven't played a Valk in quite a while and you really reminded me why I need to work on that MU. That corner high/low/grab hell is such a pain. I look forward to more games with you as they were very good. Hopefully next time we won't have the lag spikes.
-
Well, I guess I can throw mine up. Design by 966_PhoenixKing.

It'll take a little bit to get used to it, but you'll be happy you did later.

GGs to Akira. It was a great set and I appreciate the variety of MU experience. Looking back, I cringe at some of my decisions the same as I did right after choosing them, but overall I think it was a great set. GGs.

This scared the hell out me the first time I saw it...which was actually only a couple of days ago. After the first three, I saw a wave and was taken aback. Thankfully they kept mashing it and I wasn't low enough to die from chip, so the IB gave me enough to Astral, but I had to ask after the match because I had honestly never seen OD Plat before...which is kind of depressing when I think about it. It was a fun experience though, so I hope to see more Plats go crazy with the regular missiles. I know I would if I played her. Edit: forgot a word.

Kokonoe...let's see. I don't agree with banning her, personally. Playing Nu, I'm on the long list that gets to eat unblockables and I have a really hard time with character regardless if those even come to fruition (which they usually do). Her normals are fantastic (AA, multihit air attacks, OH, etc.), but I've only felt them from a Nu perspective, so I can't say her normal pressure presents much more of a blockfest than fighting a Valk or Tao. Her tools at every range of the screen are pretty devastating as well. All of this makes her a crazy hard fight, but it's a fight that EVERYONE has access to. Yes, some of us haven't DLed her due to financial reasons, but she IS available. Unlike console specific characters mentioned in previous posts (SC2, etc.), she isn't limited to ONE console, she's on the same console for everyone and everyone has access to said console. She's not in the arcades, but Japan has a plethora of PS3s in the book-offs throughout the country that are accessible. I have seen major tournaments and they don't end with a Kokofest in top 8. Those people are getting around her gimmicks, so it's more than possible. I'm not saying that the rest of us don't have to work harder for the win, but I think we're better for it. I have heard that some Japanese tournaments have banned the blackhole itself, but I have yet to check the sources on that. If that's the case, then I'm sure Arc has gotten the message about the abilities on her and if we get a patch or another version down the line, it'll be addressed. Until then, I'm for keeping her in.....even if it makes me want to strangle someone playing her. And to the user complaining about spending money on new versions every year. They're usually 40 dollars every 1-2 years. After the launch game, dlc, and a patch, that's ~120 dollars for more than a year. 10 dollars a month is MORE than a great deal for those who play this game often and getting as much enjoyment as this for that money is better than most entertainment expenditures. I'd gladly give some money to the companies that make games I enjoy when I can afford it. I enjoy their products..even with the minor flaws. Anyways, that's my..more than 2 cents worth on the subject.
