For Ky, Holy brand is your crowd control in survival. Make sure you use the left trigger when using it, though, so you can be more accurate with lining up your hit, and since it's the only way to make him move forward with the move.

Spamming the rolling move is pretty effective with Paradigm in survival mode.

Because this is my favorite game ever, and I just can't stay away no matter how hard I try.
-
I'll probably be back playing this in about 2 weeks, or so. I'm going to order some screws and washers, so I can fix my old 360 that I threw in my closet and forgot about.

Heaven Libra is good. It's usually the first or second elite that people will unlock in battle. It's also a good servant for dragging around in your personal slot for protection, or ghost capturing assistance.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't hold your breath for it, but it doesn't seem unlikely at this point either. Arc gives this game too much support with all the updating, so I can't see them letting it end as nothing more then a game that sold only a handful of copies, so I feel they still have something up their sleeve for this style of guilty gear, even if it isn't done as AJ described.

FlameMasterAJ posted something interesting on gamefaqs. Nothing is confirmed yet, but if this ends up happening, I will be the happiest person alive. "Anyways, on the rumor side, a RUMOR, keep this in mind... With the money they made from BlazBlue, they have made some sort of meeting with Sega regarding past rights. This is a good indication that we will see a improved GG for our favorite systems. No only this, but the title 'Guilty Gear 2: Overture Plus" has been licensed under the system ps3. Though this part isnt a rumor, in the video game date base it was patent, but no word at all. The same could be said for Sengoku Basara 3, it was patent in America for ps3, but no word from capcom at all. This is just something for you guys to think about. What could this mean? Chipp and Slayer in GG2 plus? If they have received their rights back, who knows what this could mean."

Well since you have access to Nico, I doubt you really need to see my outdated vids. I might try to put some more up, but I have a giant pile of dvds, and no clue which ones have matches on them.
-
I might come back to GG2 later. I actually just recently sold my 360, because I wanted to send my ps3 that had messed up in for repairs, so I definitely won't be back anytime soon, but if I do end up picking up another 360, I will play this again.

The way that 505 is handling this is pretty terrible. Hopefully they actually plan to release the game, and that this isn't one big joke.

I'm sorry about not posting about the characters yet, but I just haven't been in the mood to type stuff out. Also, when I thought about it, outside of Sol, I don't really have any concrete information on how to use other characters, except maybe Ky. Even though I can manage fairly well with all the characters, I don't feel like I'm using the others as effectively as I could, and I tend to do completely different things from 1 match to the next with them. Sol is the only character that I really have a concrete understanding of. For instance, when I play as Raven, sometimes I decide to spam candies, sometimes I decide to spam magic and ranged units, and sometimes I go for lots of elites, but I don't have any reasoning behind why I'm doing it, I just do it to see what happens, so in order for me to give worthwhile information on other characters, I'm going to have to think a bit.

Does j.b have any good uses? It seems to have a bigger hitbox then her other aerials, but it comes out so slow that you pretty much have to read into the future to get a good setup off of it, so I pretty much never use this move. Also, why is Taokaka not higher on the tier list? She seems so incredibly safe, and can get big damage so easily.

This game really isn't easy to pick up at all. You have to genuinely want to get good at it, and put forth the effort, and considering how dead the online is, not a lot of people really want to take the time to find matches and get better. I think Tobal and I are pretty much the only ones trying to play seriously. All the other Americans that do play are pretty casual. One thing that I found pretty interesting, though is that some of my Japanese friends had told me that I was talked about quite a bit over there, which I was pretty surprised to hear. It's kind of cool that they recognize me as good player, but I think it would be awesome if we we got some more good players over here, so that we could compete against them in a tournament, or something. I still have one GG2 goal that I want to achieve, which is to beat Kimera Cryin at least once. He is the only player I can never beat no matter how many times I try. One thing I always wonder is why the gap between him and the other Japanese players seems so large. At first glance he seems like just another really good player, but his strategies are so well thought out. He pretty much never makes a pointless move when it comes to summoning and navigating his servants around the battlefield. btw. I know another fairly decent American player, and his name is Kou2007. He is actually Japanese, but he lives in America. He is a sol and sin player, and he plays regularly. I'm not really sure how often he would want to play with anyone, though. He's a kind of weird guy that randomly pops into games, and leaves after 1 or 2 matches. He also leaves his status on away at all times, so you never actually know when he is available, since he never turns his xbox off. So yeah, if you want to try and contact him for a match, then maybe he would be good practice, since he is pretty much the next best player besides me. I also know that he talks with the Japanese players often, and he probably knows what sites they have all their information on, so I might ask him about that sometime.

I'll post up on some character strategies tomorrow.

The graphical effect update sounds nice. Did you try to see if it applies to other area type moves as well? I usually had a hard time telling exactly which servants are actually in stuff like healing rod, since all you get is a small little ring that can be hard to see in a cluttered situation. The graphical effect seems like a pretty useful addition to the game.

They still say "Let's Rock" when playing a versus match. edit: I put up 2 new matches today. I'll put some more up tomorrow.
-
I'm starting to put the matches up now. It's going to be a while before they are all up, but I will try to get as many up as I can up today. I know Tobal wanted to see some more high level matches, and I have some of those here. edit: Alright, I put up a few matches. I will add some more tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm going to be uploading a bunch of gg2 matches that I have had sitting around, but haven't bothered to upload, because uploading to youtube has become such a pain in the last year. Some of the matches are pretty old, but it's better than nothing.

To me Paradigm is a character that you have to be confident in your skills as a player when using. My primary strategy with him is to get strategem ASAP, and simply overwhelm the opponent with tons of servants. I use bowers often, since they are fast, and hard to fight against when in large groups. Bonebiter is one of the first elites you want to go for, and you want him to hold down whichever path your choosing to get to your opponents masterghost. You want to get the elite magic turtle (forgot name) in your personal slot, so that he can help out with his freeze ability if you encounter the master. As for fighting with paradigm, the first hit of his x string is an amazing poke, tossing that often is a good poke and stuffs a lot of approaches that your opponent might make. The most important moves in Paradigms arsenal is his bombs and rolling moves. bombs can cross up your opponent from behind, if you lay the bomb near your, and then throw the second part behind your opponent. Also the bomb explosion is unblockable. Always keep a bomb next to you, and if you see your opponent charging towards you, throw the trigger out, and even if they hit you, they will get hit by the bomb. His rolling moves beat out basically everything, although they are not very safe, but when used properly, your opponent won't be able to get it together fast enough to punish you. You can try walking away from your opponent to pretend like your not paying attention to them, and when you see them running at you, just toss out the roll move. When guarding attacks you can jump up and use his aerial roll to get away, and usually hit them in the process as well, but don't become predictable with this. As for crimson jacket, I use it pretty much all the time. Boosted defense, and you won't get flinched as easily for the first 10 seconds, or so. That's the best time to get aggressive, since your opponent won't really be able to stop you that easily. It's also a great punishing tool as well, since you can use it to punish sidesteps. Most people will sidestep after the second hit in his neutral string, so you can just throw out crimson jacket, which will stop them, and set you up for a combo. Using jumps to escape attacks is something that a lot of people do. It's often a lot safer to use than sidestepping, but it depends on who you're fighting. Sol for instance is much easier to jump away from instead of sidestepping, and the best thing about jumping is that even if you get hit, it's not too bad, since you can tech much faster when being hit in the air, and people usually won't be able to react fast enough, or might not be using a move that can transition to an air combo, so I say that it's usually a lot safer to take a hit or two trying to jump away instead of getting one of your sidesteps punished, and then eating a 50% combo.

Ky is actually becoming a much more dangerous character now that people are realizing his endless mixup game, and the power of stun edge. Stun Edge can punish nearly any approach on reaction, which means all you have to do is sit back and wait for your opponent to make a move, and then stun edge, cancel, and then step in and perform your combo of choice. Stun also punishes people who try to sidestep, so you can randomly throw them out when you think they might sidestep in the middle of your blockstrings. I think Ky is a character that hasn't been explored enough, and Is becoming more and more dangerous the more people continue to use him.

Well I just have to let everyone know that I'm pretty much done with GG2, or at least for now. What small group of players we had are not even really playing anymore, and I'm pretty busy with some personal stuff myself, so I just don't have the time to stay on top of this game like I used to. I'll probably make a comeback sometime, and start being more serious about developing the metagame, but I'll be out of the picture for a while now.

Here is a Ragna combo video I found that has some interesting stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BA4cRl7PPc

I found this fairly interesting video of a bunch of preview footage before the game came out. You will notice some things that never made it into the final game, like Sol doing a fire tackle move, Sin does beak driver in the air, and some other stuff. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7504509

I have a question about one of Ragna's combos. 5B, 5C, 5D, dash cancel, 6A, JC, j5C, j5D, etc. When you dash cancel after 5D, is it possible to buffer the 6A, because I can only hit it about 50% of the time. Even mashing A doesn't seem to get it out fast enough most of the time, so I'm just wondering what people do to land this consistently, especially when in an actual match.

I will admit that I haven't been putting much of any effort into the guide at all, even though I really need to. Also, Blazblue coming out has really did a number to this game. Most of the english speaking players have went on to blazblue, and I have no clue if, or when they plan to go back to GG2. A lot of Japanese players are playing BB as well, but I still see them going onto GG2 regularly as well. I play blazblue too, but I'm always up for GG2 pretty much any time, since I love this game too much.
