  1. does Mu have any head invulnerable moves?
  2. As has been stated, Tsubaki has some anti-projectile tools that can help her deal with the match-up. Personally, I think there's a lot of reasons it could go either way, but they all seem to be fairly marginal imo so it ends up even. Dashing through projectiles is just a mutual baiting situation. Relatively, she can do something if Mu locks her up with steins by charging in laser gaps, so i view it as an "it can only be a positive" b/c you don't have to use that time to charge if you're going to get punished for it. And she does have a proper DP if she burns a charge stock, so it all rounds about to being even in my eyes. It's difficult to say at this point how heavily either of them could leverage their strengths in the match-up from a theory standpoint. jC is where it's at. and when i say advantage i just mean 4/6, so the things you say are true. but I can't say that that's not advantage hakumen. 6C is hard to set-up if you can't dictate space, which she'll have trouble doing if she can't use steins. hakumen actually can play an up-close game with fast jabs with massive frame adv. I think of it like Hazama/Hakumen, where he shuts down a lot of Hazama's game but he still has some tools to work with (jayuki and... uhh... something else i guess). well, i'm not necessarily saying that she's just going to zone him. but as i see it, at neutral pre-curse Arakune moving around trying to avoid direct contact while buliding meter is advantage Mu because her lasers can cover a lot of space (relatively at least). not to mention 6C as well. when she's pressing, he doesn't have much against her laser spam. and defensively, she has DP even if she does get cursed which knocks him far away. the main thing for him is just that he can go broke. same thing here, neutral I don't think his drives are a big deal where her drive will be slightly more effective. defensively though, he has jayuki, but she can just play a range game to avoid that and he's not the best offensive character. i don't really see how tager would do better against Mu than anyone else. i've always though sledging through projectiles is kind of a joke of an "answer" to them as sledge A is too short range, and sledge B is too slow. i've only really viewed them as being uesful against Noel (who oddly isn't a range character). other than that, I don't really see what he could have on her.
  3. Might as well start discussing Mu. Just throwing this out there (i.e. it's probably wrong, but it's somewhere to start for discussion purposes) Bang, Slight disadvantage. Has DP for defense to defend against general brokenness at least. Litchi, Disadvantage. Should be stronger at ideal range. Ragna, Slight disadvantage... maybe even. Again, DP at least Hakumen, Disadvantage. Getting cut is probably so bad you never want to use drive out in the open Arakune, Advantage, lasers shoot everwhere Carl, Even... maybe slight advantage, DP looks like it'll cover both sides, lasers keep shooting even if hit, can hit Carl from behind Nirvana, with enough steins can probably catch him off his little dash things Jin, Even Hazama, Slight advantage, lasers should trump his zoning game, and can probably live happier playing the mid-range game Taokaka, Even Lamda, Slight disadvantage, swords probably better than lasers head to head at range Noel, Even... maybe slight disadvantage, might be able to drive through some of her lasers, but then again it's still noel Tsubaki, Even, both need set-up time Tager, Advantage, he's a big hit box and she has lots of lasers that shoot Rachel, Advantage, Mu actually does damage. 5 disadvantage, 4 advantage would place her somewhere in mid-tier which sounds about right. She's not top. Nor is she's near top. But she can do good damage without having serious liabilites in general. Hakumen is the only one out of the top that screws her over specifically.
  4. What are the situations where you can get 5C, 5C instead of 2C on the staple BnB combo?
  5. Well, I'm just gonna say I'm fine with the large categorization being by moves. For me, it's perfectly sensible and easy to read. That said the ad hoc nature of everything within these categories has to go. To me it doesn't really matter, how you organize it, just so long as it's all organized so you can find whatever you need based on the following information: Move (whether just specific move or broad categories of moves doesn't matter to me) Screen Position (anywhere, mid-screen, pushing to corner, starts in the corner) Hit Type (anti-air, counter hit, fatal counter hit) Character (what characters it works on and which it doesn't work on) Magamata (how many it costs, how many you get back) So long as you organize them with so with respect to this information so it's readable by it's structure, it's all good. That said... Fatal Combos being in red is sort of unnecessary. Just because it's a fatal counter doesn't make it suddenly more important than the other combos. Move to a new line if you are giving information on the combo, don't just tag it at the end of the combo. CH 5A into 5C is nice. Didn't know about that.
  6. any idea where the foot invulnerability kicks in on 6B?
  7. he has reach and damage on everyone tho. it's not like it's a good idea to just sit back and spam D against people anyways. you are using lasers as rush cover not to keep out, meaning ultimately you're looking to attack in concert with them so if he's trying to cut them you should be trying to get into a position where you can counter him with a move faster than his C moves. i think it's a bit too soon to really say, i just doubt it's that bad just knowing Hakumen. i mean, he only 55/45's rachel and 50/50's Lambda.
  8. 7-3 is too much. It's not like Hakumen has a crazy pressure/mix-up game or anything.
  9. CS top tier are just strictly better versions of lower-mid tier in terms of rush down, poking, or damage. So essentially gameplay-wise they "trade" in the sense that they seek to do similar things, but top tier wins on most of these trades. Dealing with this is more just about playing better overall, then anything specific per se, making better reads and executing properly. CT top tier were more bad match-ups by the nature of the match-up, i.e. not having the proper tools to deal with the opponent. In CS you could just up your own personal game to beat top tier, but in CT you have to beat them at their own game.
  10. Wild speculation... but my guess is that Nine and Jubei's marriage was actually a plot by Nine to... errmmm... "harvest" his DNA to isolate where he is getting his power from (in line with statements of him being the strongest warrior there is). The Kaka clan is a result of that and their constant numbers are a result of the process (something like they each hold a certain percentage of his power or something). When Terumi instigated his plot and brought Nine along, she decided to abandon the project. Jubei tells Kokonohoe (who doesn't have his father's power and as such was a disappointment in Nine's eyes in terms of being a vessel for Jubei's project and hence she made the Kaka's) that "Terumi killed your mother" sort of like Obi-Wan tells Luke "Darth Vader killed your Father" more so as a lie/metaphor than strictly being the truth. Kokonohoe looks to the Kaka's as a sort of misguided memory of her mother (they are happy and pleasant, so she erroneously attributes her mom with those characteristics).
  11. Best advice I could give you is to always roll the 214 when you do a 2a (or 5a). You're hit confirming the b press not the 214 motion. Other than that practice and anticipation.
  12. Does Yata No Kagami go through barriers? If so the match-up might not be all that bad. Sure Hakumen can just sit there and cut all lasers, but if she can do a quick cancel to super she should be able to punish him during recover. If not, then yeah. Looks really bad.
  13. If you see rush, couldn't you just DP it? I think as long as you're not careless lasers should still be useful. She can fire off lasers from many angles and be mobile while they are firing. The biggest thing in the match-up is how the Charge versus Steins matches up. On the one hand steins will give her time to charge up, but on the other hand charge gives her time to Stein up. I think a big thing might be guard breaks (if it's possible to react to charge and get knock off a quick primer she's in for a tough fight) and if she can punish charges with Yata no Kagami. If she can do those things, I'd give a slight edge to Mu. If she can't, I'd say even to slight disadvantage Mu depending on what Mu's overall damage ends up looking like. Of course, pure speculation.
  14. Please correct me where I am flatly wrong. I'm just trying to piece together everything I know.... Okay.... so trying to wrap my head around how the whole Blazblue saga exists so correct me where I am wrong... note that this is all off of my rough CT memory and stuff I've read off the internet. I haven't played CS. Because the Blazblue story loops (uhh... right?) I'm referring to the prior loop universe as Loop -1 and the current one Loop 0. Loop -1. -In this universe, "Noel" died during the Ikaruga war (in quotes because she never became a Vermillion) and as such Tsubaki worked with Jin and they had a loving relationship. -It's possible that Jin in the Loop may have had a different character than Loop 0 Jin as he was in a loving relationship and seems more honorable/less emo. Perhaps Ragna was the crazy one during this loop further explaining why Hakumen is antagonistic to Ragna because he knows a Ragna of a different nature. -With no Noel to stop Ragna/Nu from being pulled through the time gate, they do get pulled through and become the Black Beast. -Presumably, Jin had a similar agenda to go after his brother went he went all fight the power and somehow was dragged back as well. -Presumably, Terumi would be on hand for this event just as he was in Loop 0. It is said that the "Black Beast" was a failed experiment to create a Kusanagi. This is where I think "observer" powers come into play. Since part of the creation of the Black Beast requires that it is traveled back in time, it wouldn't really be a practical experiment. So my guess is that he is experimenting fourth dimensionally and so his prior self sees the past as the result of actions in the future. Loop 0 -Ragna/Nu go all Black Beast on the world. -Terumi seeing in the new loop that his plan has failed gathers the Six Heroes because if everything is destroyed there there won't be anything to kill god with. My guess here is that the observation point where he sees the Black Beast as a failed experiment is when he rejects the Susano Unit. -Relius Clover helps him with that. - At some point Terumi begins Plan "cannot possibly fail to kill God this time" involving Mu-12. -Rachel offers Loop -1 Jin the Susano Unit after Terumi leaves the Susano Unit. She's apparently something like middle management and when Terumi went AWOL she picked up Jin as his replacement. -Jubei, Nine, Hakumen, Terumi, Trinity, and Valkenhayn team up to beat down the Black Beast. Only Hakumen knows of the prior universe (presumably) aside from Terumi. Seeing as how Jubei seems to be "in the know" I'm guessing Hakumen told him about it. -NOL is founded. Presumably, Terumi and Relius are a large figures in this. Hakumen is displeased. -My guess is that Platina dies or something because she's now trapped in that little girl. -I'm guessing Halkenhayn was only a hero because Rachel asked him to as opposed to actually caring on some personal level. So when the job was done he went back to serving tea and stuff. -Ragna, Jin, and Saya all live in a church being taken care of by Nine's sister. - My speculation here is that post defeat of the Black Beast, Ragna, Jin, and Saya were left. Why exactly Jin would be left when the Black Beast wasn't part of him, I do not know. But with the generational ties some of the character's have it seems mysterious that these are just a bunch of kids that were dumped in a church. They had to come from somewhere relevant and I don't think they are anyone in the stories kid. So I'm guessing pre-loop (i.e. before the universe started looping at all), they had a "proper existence" with like a family that they were born out of. But now all three of them exist with no precedent within that universe. I.e. Ragna was "born" when the Black Beast was defeated and eventually became the Black Beast who eventually became Ragna and it's a whole chicken-egg-race-thingy. Jin is the world's "antibody" so perhaps when the Black Beast was destroyed when Ragna was born and the beast power was cut in two (Ragna and Saya), Jin was created to seperate the two. Which makes sense since he is the middle child. The heroes (aside from Terumi) don't really know what the kids are so they put them up in a church with a family friend to keep look out. -Terumi makes Jin go all crazy and burn the church nabbing Saya and cutting Jin's arm off. My guess is that this was phase one of "cannot possibly fail to kill god this time." Being that Jin was designed to be antagonistic to Ragna it makes sense that he could be easily cajoled/crazyified by Terumi. Since this time around he isn't looking to create the Beast he doesn't need Ragna (or it would make sense for him to steal them both) and Jin is unnecessary aside from going crazy. -Terumi apparently also kills Kokonohoe's mother (Jubei's wife) Nine. Though my speculation is that that's a lie (Jubei just told her that to obscure the truth and still blame dickweed Terumi) and that Nine was always on Terumi's side since she is now his Phantom. No real evidence, but Nine is a witch and Terumi makes things in "Caldrons." Since Kokonohe is a scientist it puts her thematically against Nine so an actually conflict would be apt. -I'm guessing at that's when Hakumen and Jubei are all like "oh damn, Terumi is a jerk!" and they throw down against him leading to a fight where Terumi tries to trap them in the boundary, but Jubei gets his ass out of there has to leave Hakumen trapped along side Terumi.... which I read somewhere on this site but can't recall which thread. -Jubei survives realizes Ragna's importance and teaches him and gives him stuff. I'm guessing the imitation Blazblue that Ragna has is something Jubei jacked from Terumi when they were fighting earlier. -Rachel turns Ragna into a half-vampire or daywalker or something. -Jin and Saya are both eventually taken in by the Library. -Saya clones are being made and she apparently becomes their ruler. I'm guessing that since she is the youngest of the three she is the least "human" which is why she is now all hard on ending the looping and creating a world that dies. I'm guessing Terumi created NOL with the idea that Saya would run it which is why she was able to rise to power so quickly. Finally, I'm guessing the clones were created to create solo-Black Beasts. The Black Beast is probably the only thing strong enough to kill god, but whenever it's made it travels back in time and gets beaten up by the Six Heroes. So i'm guessing the idea is to isolate the beast within her and make it so that it can become proper Black Beast i.e. a Kusanagi so as to avoid the whole travel-back-in-time-and-get-beaten-by-the-six-heroes thing. -Jin is taken into the Kisaragi family as a means to monitor him since he is known to be the world's "antibody." -Pre-Ikaruga Civil War -Sometime before Arakune is created Terumi escapes the Boundary. I'm guessing he was released when the three anonymous god-like people who share his agenda decided that he'd be a good tool. -Sometime after this but before the war I'm guessing this is when Arakune is created b/c he dabbled in the boundary. Before the war is based on the fact that Iron Tager doesn't seem to be anything more than a gopher for Kokonohoe, but I'm under the impression that he was more a scientist type before he became Ironified. After Terumi is release is based on the fact that him become Arakune is supposedly another one of Terumi's experiments in creating another Black Beast. -Litchi also dabble with it, wants to save, Arakune, and so on and so forth. -Ikaruga Civil War. -There's that stuff about Bang's master. Dunno what's the deal with that. -Jin is made a hero. I'm guessing that this is in an effort to control Jin. -Noel, the 12th Murakumo Unit survives. And rather than going back to the lab or armory or whatever, they implant her within NOL. My guess is that it was an unintended survival (not that they wanted her destroyed but just she was presumed dead for awhile) but when the Vermillion's found her they decided to let it ride out. I'm guessing what allows her to fully tap into the Azure (or whatever) is in part due to the fact that she is whole person as opposed to something like Nu that is more a fractional being longing to be whole by combining with Ragna. -Jin and Noel are placed with each other as to keep each other in check. Tsubaki is left in the cold and never knows true love or something. -Tager is blown into not-quite smithereens and eventually rebuilt into Iron Tager. -At some point afterwards Carl's sister is transformed into Nirvana and he goes all vigilante. -At some point, Bang goes all "I wanna be a your hero" and crushes on Litchi. -Nu-13 is probably abandoned since they are eyeing Noel as a success. Since in CT, it doesn't seem like they are particularly interested in her and she was more just lying in storage. -Calamity Trigger. -Ragna decides to go smash Caldrons. He never encounters a Murakomo since the program has been abandoned since Noel, but he doesn't realize this. I'm assuming this is the case because if he did, I would imagine any variation would want to do the whole merge-into-the-beast thing. -Jin, Carl, Bang (? I forget), Arakune, Tao, and sorta Tager go after Ragna. Litchi goes after Arakune. Noel goes after Jin. Hakumen finally escapes and attempts to stand in the way of Ragna encountering Nu since he knows that that's how the Beast is born. -Jin goes after Ragna because he's the anti-body and all. -I'm guessing Noel is sent after Jin moreso to destroy Nu than to stop Jin. Jin is just leading the way there since he's going after Ragna which will unexpectedly lead them to Nu. -They all fight and stuff and eventually Noel prevents the next loop from forming by stopping Ragna/Nu from going back in time. -Terumi shows up to gloat. The loop is broken and now he can go into phase 2 of "cannot possibly fail to kill God this time." He fires the satellite laser at them since he doesn't need them anymore. I think that the used it during the Civil War which Noel survived, so I'm guessing they figured everybody but Noel would die this time too. But Rachel blocks the laser. -Terumi sends Tsubaki to kill Jin (who he doesn't care about anymore, but is an unknown factor to him) and Noel (more just to mindscrew Noel) and also possibly as a nice f-you to Hakumen by sending his girl off to go get stopped around. -Continuum Shift -Near as I can tell the story until the end is basically, Terumi tries to make Noel go nuts, Noel does go nuts, but Ragna saves her when he is bonded with Lambda by breaking a tiara. -Saya is revealed to be running NOL. -Apparently, Terumi goes and kills those three god-like people or something and I'm not sure if it's phase 2 of his plan or his back up plan if the Noel-destroys-all plan failed, but he and his peeps go to Ikaruga. Perhaps something with her activation caused a change there that is important.
  15. ^^ sounds good. Does the 236A projectile have a lot of block stun? It sort of looks like the kind of thing that one.
  16. TBH, I think it's better to have them in there. Dashes definitely (since there is no chance for confusion and sometimes it may look like a dash is unneeded but it is). And while I don't know if Mu has any high jump cancels, it would be weird if jump cancels weren't listed and high jump cancels were (and high jump cancels should be listed). My suggestion is that jump cancels be put in parenthesis (jc), so it's easy to read as being distinct from the standard set of moves. Perhaps for consistency (RC), (hjc), (dash) could be done this way as well.
  17. whew. that's a relief.
  18. Does counter hit B not combo to 3C anymore? You don't have it listed....
  19. nvm. for some reason I misread that.
  20. Alisa is good. Most say at least mid-tier, some even think high tier, mostly due to her better than average movement. And yeah, it's pretty balanced. It also has a large as hell cast with a massive amount of moves, so it's more your opponent than the character. I think a Wang player was part of the winning Japanese team.
  21. http://scrawlfx.com/2009/08/sony-rep-price-drop-and-backwards-compatibility-coming-soon Dunno if this is real or if it's just adding some compatibility to ones that have none or if it's full compatibility to all PS3s, but since I started the thread thought if anyone else was wishing for it (even with video lag) they'd like to know.
  22. Is there a online for the Wii version? Come to think of it, I know some ppl with Wii's so I might be able to get games in that way. Plus, I can pick up TvC. And buy all sorts of excercise games that can sit in the corner of my garage like my treadmill, weights, etc etc
  23. I never owned a PS2, I always played Guilty Gear with a friend on his. So when I got a PS3, I decided to pick up GGAC+ because GG is awesome. Unfortunately, I have the new version that isn't as backwards compatible as the older versions. So at the moment, I just loaned it out to a friend of min (who has the older version) which wouldn't be a bad thing if not for the fact that he lives about 4 hours from where I live. That said, should I hope that eventually they'll patch it so that it runs (if you are unfamiliar the game freezes at the ArkSys logo) on my PS3? I'm actually considering just buying a PS2 (there are a couple other games I'd like to play but don't play on my version as well)... but... yeah. Not like I don't have other games to play and things to spend money on. But I do miss my Guilty Gear.
  24. Yeah. Hakumen is definitely a character that gains more by learning how to play the opposing players character than anyone else. Most of my time learning Hakumen is spent learning other characters... what cancels into what, move recognition, a sense of their timing and options... etc. etc.
