  1. Was his card name Jager? If so, that might actually be Arisa. He's pretty good. Did you notice any particular new technology from the Rachel players? Or was there anything in paticular that seemed to be really effective?
  2. While running away is a perfectly viable tactic, there's always a way to open someone up. Rachel has some really nasty setups in the corner like making them block George and then doing either a really deep j.B or 2B. Stuff like that or even stuff like 5B 2D j.B is really hard to react to. If they're blocking consistently, you're being too predictable with your mixup. Even people with really godlike defense can't guess every 50 50 right. Staggering strings not only fishes out mashing, but it can also throw off IB timing or make it more ambiguous as to what you're going to do next. 4B does suck, but people do get hit by it... try doing weird stuff once in a while like 2A 4B.
  3. If Namco made it, people would buy it even if it's terrible. For trolling purposes, they should make it play like Tekken.
  4. Mine is really terrible. Poverty connection. :3
  5. We'd love to, but the problem for a lot of us is the location. It's over an hour drive for most of us each way. Maybe something like a monthly would be viable... but I can't imagine more than that.
  6. I watched Mecha Madoka, Another, and Booty Pirates last night. I think the only one I'll stick with is Another.
  7. I do agree that one key thing is to get Blazblue more exposure. At lot of people at EVO last year actually really liked grand finals. I saw a lot of comments that it was one of if not the most entertaining grand finals matches. Yet, no BB footage made it into most of the highlight reels. Speaking of personal experience, I can understand that feel of BB not being streamed at tournaments. I feel like a lot of times the brackets and community aren't taken that seriously by other parts of the FGC. And while this is sometimes frustrating, if there's anything I've learned from the experience... it's just that we got to deal with it. Money talks and usually it's not the BB community running these venues so it' really can't be helped. What can be helped is trying to establish good relationships with these communities so they'll at least give BB a shot. If you have means, time, money, etc. to get more people involved in BB, you should do it. Even if it's just you and your friends uploading scrub matches onto Youtube, it helps. Look at those matches, analyze what retarded things you're doing, and work on improving. If you have a community, promote yourselves. I can understand why people hate stuff like anime conventions, but going there and doing a setup can actually attract people. Even if you get only one person into the scene from your efforts, it helps. Yes it's not very easy and a lot of times very questionable things will happen, but you have to keep trying. Comparing our tournament numbers to other games like SF and Marvel isn't really fair or even make any sense because our numbers were small to begin with. The aesthetics of the game do matter. No matter how hard you try to pitch it, it's aesthetics aren't going to appeal very well to a western audience because of all the social stigma attached to anime. So small numbers are really no surprise. EVO, both teams and singles, had extremely high turn outs for us. Yes, it's not very big when compared to other games, but I really don't think it's from lack of community effort. That being said, I think the number one focus should to not be discouraged and to keep trying.
  8. You could probably bring a casual setup for Gundam. I doubt they'd take it as a main game though.
  9. Is 100 yen a game the standard over there? If so, I'm kind of surprised. How do a lot of them afford to play like 3000+ games? Is the age group generally older or younger than what you'd expect in the US?
  10. Actually, I heard the Daily Lives of High School Boys is supposed to be a pretty awesome comedy (people are comparing it to Gintama). I'm planning on checking it out when I have time. Sakaku- Nice job on the combo vid.
  11. I do think that you should show up if you are financially able to as it is really fun. But... I have to admit that expecting crazy numbers for BB is kind of unreasonable. The lack of exposure makes the game grow very slowly. I was surprised that we matched Tekken in numbers last year even though there were tons of rumors of no shows. Our own scene is relatively pretty active, but the number of new members we've gotten is pretty small. I think a total of five joined after I did which was like two years ago. I imagine it's worse for other scenes. I mean, we are kind of lazy... but we do put in effort to get new people to come out. We even show up and staff at anime conventions to try to get people interested. The only other thing I can think of is selling shirts with Spark and Huey's faces printed on them, but I'm pretty sure that would get shot down. It might have just been me, but I was also kind of under the impression that everyone who could show up to EVO last year did. I don't think it's the scene isn't showing up but that the BB community has always been relatively small to begin with. We could try to rope in a bunch of low level players who like animu and pretty lights, but that wouldn't exactly be a positive influence on the community either. And... actually, from what I know... isn't it kind of the same for other FGs? It's not that they were small got really huge, but that they started out big. But even then actually all of them have been getting smaller numbers as the hype train wears down and casual players move on. I guess that's my two cents on the matter.
  12. I know I've been out of the loop lately, so I decided to catch up on stuff and Northwest Majors, Seattle, WA May 26th caught my eye. What, really?
  13. Playing CSX Rachel made me realize that I missed j.2C pumpkin oki. It's very strong in the corner. Mid screen, it's kind of slower than what I want it to be, but still very useful.
  14. Another problem you might have is that your blockstrings might be the same thing over and over. Do you do overheads in the same spots? Are your mixups easily telegraphed? It's risky for Hakumen to just mash counter while in blockstun because you can chain into throw and get a free combo. If he really is just doing that, then that's your answer. But you should also look carefully at how you do your block strings. For example, if I'm against a Ragna who does 6B mix up the same way over and over again, I can 2C him for free.
  15. I'm going to assume you mean cannons, rods, and pumpkin. The thing is, you have to wait for Tager to do something. Pretty much anything he does at neutral can be punished by pumpkin for free. He sledges and you're out of range? Free combo. Both versions of sledge have a crap ton of recovery on whiff and B sledge has a crap ton of start up (if you're fast enough you can run up and 2C CH him for free, you only risk him being able to rapid cancel and block if you do it too late... otherwise he's stuck in hitstop and will get hit even if he rapids). If you have this kind of problem it's because you're just throwing out things mindlessly. Zoning isn't just about having shit on screen. It's about carefully controlling the screen space in your favor. Literally all Rachel has to do to accomplish this is be out of range of Tager's attacks and have pumpkin out. Any approach he does at that point is risky. To win this match up you have to be really patient and be really good at controlling screen space on top of calling Tager out on his shit. You can't make mistakes because he can capitalize pretty well and put you in some scary situations. But if you pay patient and lame enough there's really not much he can do except try to scare you into making a mistake.
  16. Lol. Tae has the PS3 version. We should get him to bring it and grind the secret dungeon. That place is hella cool.
  17. He doesn't have much Rachel v. Hazama or Hazama v. Rachel match up experience.
  18. I consider FF12 bad because the story is pretty bad and the characters are overall bad. The battle system while initially interesting, was really boring after a while. And not boring in the sense that once you figure out what to do it's a free ride... all RPGs are like that. But I actually really didn't like that all you did after a certain point in the game was hold forward. If the story and characters were better, I would have considered it to be okay. But the game could have used a better difficulty curve to make the battle system less boring. One thing it had above 13 was that characters who weren't the controlled character could use reviving items and the customizable AI was better than the AI sets in 13. I'm not really sure why 13 had it so that AIed characters never used Phoenix Downs. But, one thing I really did like about 13 is that offensive magic isn't ass end game. Even if damage-wise it still loses to melee, it is very useful end game which is pretty rare for the Final Fantasy series as a whole.
  19. It's a sequel to an FF, so it will probably be bad. That being said, I liked FF13. It was pretty much FF10 but shinier. I also thought fro guy was cool. Too bad late game he's only good for one fight. Only person I didn't like was Snow. Not only is he perpetual retarded, but he's also really terrible.
  20. Haha... remembering that game makes me sad. Wild Arms Alter Code F probably makes me the most sad out of that list. Wild Arms 1 reproduced by Wild Arms 3 staff (which is why it's bad like Wild Arms 3).
  21. Yeah. FF8 is pretty bad. Other bad RPGS: Beyond the Beyond Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Tales of Innocence (my god, that jungle map) Wild Arms 3 Wild Arms Alter Code F Final Fantasy 12 Tales of Innocence is a sad tale where the character and story is actually pretty okay. Gameplay is also decently fun. What kills it is whoever designed the maps and environment. I'm sure someone had to be possessed by Satan to make that jungle map.
  22. They're pretty nice. You should get them SRK frontpaged.
  23. If you check the Rachel forum, there are plenty Of people who will play you. Also, there's a Rachel Skype channel. If you have Skype, PM me your contact info and I'll add you.
  24. Also combos where you do 6B jc instead of 5B jc to optimize damage are gone.
  25. What problems are you having with it? And have you checked the j.2c tutorials?
