  1. I guess this is the Jedah thread now. Originally it was a thread about fighting the Taliban, but I guess Kyle thought I should be in charge of the Jedah thread. I'm a little nervous about having first post responsibilities, because I'm a new player and a bad player, but I'll try to compensate by copy/pasting a bunch of stuff from the wiki. One secret I know with Jedah is that if you hit mp (or strong) when you pick him, you get the red color, which is his best color. If the next couple posts don't make sense to you, it's because I originally just asked some advice for beating the dog (Taliban). They are, however, very important, because if you pick up Jedah, and play against the dog, you will feel very sad and feel like quitting this game. Don't though. People are telling me it's possible to beat him somehow. Good players: Oouchi and Shimatsuya are good Jedah players. (You might even call them "Jedah masters.") I did not scrutinize the videos I chose, they're just examples, but there are loads of videos of them on youtube. Now to quote the wiki: Character Overview Now, in the below list of moves, you'll see that some of the frame data has a section that says "renda." What this refers to, is something called "renda bonus," which is a thing in Vampire Savior where you actually get added frame advantage by linking a light attack into itself. So, if I do a crouching lk with Jedah, I normally get +5 on block, but if I link another crouching lk after, I instead get +8 frames. This does not keep adding up. I can't get +11 if I link another one or anything like that. Renda bonus is important, because Jedah's dash mixup using dash mk and dash hk for crossup is easier to set up when you have more frame advantage. The earlier your opponent gets out of block/hit stun, the easier it is to poke you out of the sky and make you sad. I point this out to all who read this, because for the first few weeks I played this game, nobody told me about renda bonus and was just yelling at me to do Jedah's mixup more, and I was like I'M TRYING TO BUT I KEEP GETTING POKED OUT YOU GUYS ARE MEAN!!!! Once I found out about renda bonus, the extra frame advantage made it much easier to maintain pressure and do mixup. NEED CONFIRMATION ON THE FOLLOWING: As I understand it, if I link one light attack into a different light attack, I will not get the renda bonus. It has to be the same attack twice. (right?) Moves (you should really go to the wiki to view the hitboxes on these): Again, credit for the above useful information goes to whoever put in the work for the wiki. I don't know who that is.
  2. I dunno, dude, is there a limit to the number of people you're allowed to have in the chat or something? I kept trying to reload and eventually it worked after it was over and people left. Also, remind people that when this happens they can still listen on the facebook link.
  3. Oh that's cool, we'll be waiting for you.
  4. New ranbat on a-cho youtube. Edit: or maybe it's post-ranbat casuals.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPBJcQXEx_4 Anybody peep this one? The fact that this game can still surprise me after all these years, my stars.
  6. Jason Kim made a GG podcast. It was funny.
  7. Yo does anybody know how to play 2p locally on nulldc? Just tried it and can't figure it out. Assumed it would be simple:(
  8. Good job, nehle. Also, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to start a thread where we can post up our location by region. I find that sometimes when I am about to play someone from steam or the irc channel, they're from europe or the other side of the country or something. Having a list of people that actually play this online, where they live, and what the best way to reach them is (im, irc, steam, etc.) might help us figure out who we should be trying to have matches with since we don't have a lobby or anything. If you think it's a good idea feel free to start a thread somebody, or else let me know and I can.
  9. Why is Summit so strong?
  10. I guess my point is there doesn't always seem to be a clear rationale for why a move is a forcebreak. The bubble almost makes sense, because it's a better version of an existing special move, as ex moves have traditionally been. If all ex's were like that, I guess it would make more sense, even if some of them were still useless.
  11. Yeah, I would say at the least average combo damage does not need to be increased. There's nothing wrong with big damage from a legit setup that uses meter too, but I think there's a lot of free damage floating around from random hits in AC land. Not that this is a big deal to me. I love AC and still play it when I can, but if they just keep piling more and more insane damage and extra mechanics on top of AC, it's going to get to be a little excessive at some point. Similarly, if they keep adding new moves to cover "gaps" in the way a character plays, eventually, all characters will have all gaps covered, and will become indistinguishable from one another. When they add moves, they should be to complement the characters existing playstyle, and not to make them good at something they were designed to not be good at. The thing with forcebreaks is that some are too strong, some are good, some are ok, some would be good as specials, but aren't worth the meter, and some are just terrible no matter how you look at them. I guess it's kind of the same thing with supers, but at least with supers you have to spend more meter. My biggest gripe I guess is with something like Jackhound, which was fine in Slash when it was free, but it feels like the only reason they made it cost meter in AC was because they couldn't think of another fb to give Johnny.
  12. Revert back to Slash and build from there. AC was starting to get a little out of hand, and if they keep building from there it'll just get messier and messier. Testament doesn't NEED a reversal move. Of course he benefits from it, but he's supposed to be a character that makes it hard to approach, but suffers under pressure. Make forcebreaks more balanced or remove them altogether. Combo damage maybe could be reduced on average?
  13. Good behavior?
  14. TV is cool. How was the food? Did you get out Friday or were you in longer?
  15. Anyone know how long Mac's in the pokey? If he's gonna be in there a few days I might try to go see him. Probably sucks in there.
  16. Eric on SRK front page!?! Good job sir, now just do it with a GG video. Tag it with a bunch of Marvel-related words to increase your chances.
  17. It's pretty sad, actually. The Naomi setup is the CvS2 cab, with US parts, and our candy cabs are running Vampire and ST usually, with 3rd thrown on it every once in a while when the buttons on the 3s cab are not working right or something. If he got a new candy cab, I don't know if he'd throw GG on it or not. I guess since he's gotten candy cabs 2 in the last year the possibility of getting another one exists, and the chances of him throwing GG on it are ok, but I don't know for sure.
  18. So I had a dream I was walking around downtown Chicago looking for someplace to eat and Tad was there. Then, Tad was gone and Brent and Jack G. were there, and they were totally smoking cigarettes. Then we went to cross the street, and Brent and Jack were a little ahead of me and I noticed their feet, and Brent was barefoot, and Jack had like one sock on. Then I started laughing at them because they looked like shoeless hobos.
  19. Thursdays is our fight night at the arcade usually. Turns out I won't be there today.
  20. Matthias used to post here but I don't know if he still checks. If he's not around I'm probably your only Cincy guy looking at this thread, but I'm on SRK too. Kyle W. mostly posts in KY thread still even though he lives in Ohio now. I usually don't play BB, but I might try CSII if I show up tomorrow. I don't know if you know which one I am, but I go to AL kind of regularly.
  21. ^ hey cool. thanks.
  22. oops. Yes. Kyle W. Heroez, just enter next time we will find sticks for you. Josh, sorry my stick was broke. Sort of happened as the tournament was going on, so I didn't know if it was actually functionally broke or just in appearance only. I think Matt the Eddie player got screwed over by it too.
  23. Kyle G. won. Nerd Josh got 2nd. Face got 3rd. 2 Mays in top 3:psyduck: Thanks for coming out. What was your IRL name again? Also, if you can run GG on your computer we should try some online games some time.
