  1. Mmmm... Rally's.
  2. Jersey is the only reason I visit DL anymore:( What's the difference between cyberbullying and trolling?
  3. ^Wow dude. Thanks for sort of chronicling the even. I was sort of sad about the abrupt end, but it's really hard to resist the urge for casuals, so I can't blame you for that. Stickbug certainly did contribute 99% of the total hype.
  4. Sounds good, circles. Mac got first today, Face 2nd, Me 3rd. Face steamrolled me. Need to figure out this May matchup.
  5. I also would like to voice my positive feelings toward woki at this time. That is what we're doing at this time, right?
  6. Oh you're only coming for the side tournaments now? Also, why you miss SB?
  7. Eric, don't do that either. Sleep at the bar or drink at home.
  8. Tad, you should have come. Also, if it's a night, it's a GG:AC kind of night by default.
  9. Eric don't do that.
  10. BB will do a lot better this time without a community in flux between CT/CS. GG's community hopefully won't be in flux between players not caring and dying of old age.
  11. bumping this in the off chance somebody wants to learn this game and can't find this thread because it's not stickied.
  12. Yo Eric are you going to be able to make it this weekend? I'm guessing no since it's right on the heels of SB, but thought I'd ask. Same question to Paul and Matt if Paul's lurking.
  13. Matt NO! Tell them that you have to play video games and it's very important. They'll understand trust me.
  14. It's because you're the Ky lady. Did you guys notice that SH_ posted on dustloop?
  15. I know a way to start the round with tension, but it doesn't work on the first round, and it requires me knowing which button you have assigned to respect. ...you can throw warrant WAAAAAY before its frc point. Kyle, yeah dude. I kind of purposefully avoided playing you because I wanted to maximize time playing people I never see. But seriously come to AL saturday if AT ALL possible. We'll play until I figure it out. If not then, soon as possible. Chase, quit that saturday job and come to arcades.
  16. Well, they were shutting the place down for the night so it wasn't really your fault, and also you played Eddie in the first match. Doomz, Testament mirrors are super fun. Every matchup in this game is super fun and presents its own unique challenge. After I went home, learned how to frc beast and throw warrant. Just try warrant again and see what happens.
  17. Where the videos at? Also, trying to get Osirun some ideas for GG for PowerUp. Don't know how, but would like to make it at least as hype as SB this year. He's talking about a different payout structure, but I want to know if we can do any sort of events that would bring people out. Some ideas I've had: Streamed MMs or exhibition matches of some sort. Maybe we can find out who is going and have people vote on who they want to see playing on the stream. Maybe we could do some sort of state 5-man teams or something. I don't know. Does KY still have 5 players? I think with Chase, Kyle, and Shepsville they might be able to get there. SF4 did something similar last time at PowerUp. 3v3's again would be awesome, but that's got to be something that's figured out on-site I think or at least after we figure out who is showing up. 23v23 would still be the best ever, but that's got to be impossible. Just kicking it around. I know it's really far off yet and nobody probably cares, but GG is awesome and having good tournament for it is also awesome.
  18. Losing = want to redeem self = not bored. Must have been the look on my face.
  19. Wasn't the sopranos good though? Look. Do what works. If that works, do it. We have a lower population density than you and probably less total players. SF4, Tekken, and whatever players from here are telling me they want to learn GG. I'm into that. Whatever you think I'm accusing you of, I'm not. How'd I do, Mac?
  20. I trust you, and I think your heart's in the right place, and yes if space and/or time is limited, something does need to be cut out, and SF4 shouldn't be exempt just because it's popular, but if it's possible to run absolutely everything people wanna play, why not? SF4 has a gigantic player base, and if you can redirect that into other games, I think it's a good idea. I still don't know if you're saying you're getting a good turnout despite SF4 players not being there or if you're saying the SF4 players are coming out even when SF4 isn't being played. If it's the latter, then great, but if it's the former, I think you may be missing out on a lot of potential community growth. I mean it does make sense, doesn't it? Also I guess I should say that there's nothing wrong with hyping up other games. I'm not saying hype up SF4 and just sort of have the other games there, but you can hype up other games and sort of have SF4 there and what's the harm? Also, nothing wrong with having separate events for separate games, but I think it's a great idea to try and foster interaction between communities of different games so people can learn to enjoy something that isn't SF4.
  21. ^hmmm, basketball player leaves cleveland... basketball could either be code for BB or Hokuto no Ken... leaving cleveland part is obvious. I don't know what to make of Keanu eating a sammich on a bench. You gonna move to Cincy, sleep on a park bench, eat sammiches, and quit GG for BB or HnK?
  22. Alright, well, I haven't been there and I don't know how you do things. As long as the SFIV people aren't staying home when SF4 isn't being played, I think we're talking about the same thing. I mean, if a person was purposefully doing keeping SF4 from being run all the time, that can still come off as elitism/favoritism, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're about. All I'm saying is that if you want to show somebody that a game is worth playing, they have to be there to play it, which means something has to bring them out, which means the game they're already playing, and you also have to not do things that would discourage them from participating, i.e. paying an entry fee for a game they know nothing about. Sometimes you even have to go beyond that and play their game as well so that they'll see it's cool to play your game. It sounds like you're showing everyone some love and it also sounds like you're seeing results. If that's true, then I don't think there's anything to worry about. I didn't mean to call you out or anything, it just sounded like some people were calling for a retreat from the rest of the fighting game community into our own little clique, when what we need to be doing is building relationships and showing people that superior mechanics contribute more to enjoying a game than a popular license and realistic* graphics. *3d automatically makes things realistic and gives you an excuse to take a VIDEO GAME seriously
  23. Don't know how you'd make a major without money involved, unless you're talking a bunch of sponsors or something, but I really think it works better with ranbats where you can expose people to games over and over through the course of a couple months. If they think they're just going to see the game once and never have to deal with it again, they may not care as much. Mac I think is down for NEC for sure, but while I would like to go, I doubt I'll be able to. I'm unemployed, and holiday time is hella busy for me. I'd love to go though and will maybe look into it. I think Frosty Faustings might be my next tournament though as it will be much cheaper for me and at a less busy time.
  24. So it doesn't seem like Valk ran trains on everyone like we thought eh?
  25. Conversely, Arcade Legacy has been running ranbats for basically all games anyone cares about on the same day. Said ranbats are free to enter with arcade venue fee. What has resulted is everybody enters everything, because it's free and stuff, and then they try out Guilty Gear and find out they like it, and ultimately, what we've seen recently is a lot of interest in GG coming from players of other games. Like actual interest in learning a character and stuff. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that if you invite players of other games out, and don't do anything like a tournament fee that would discourage people from trying it out, and you also show an interest in their games, you're more likely to get their attention/respect. I mean, I don't like SF4, but it's still a fighting game, and it can still be fun on some level, and there's nothing wrong with getting better at it if you have the opportunity. I find that when I shut up about how terrible BB and SF4 are and just try to enjoy the games and the company, they start to also show interest in GG. I think excluding other games and thereby their players will only result in bringing in animu fags and ostracizing people who like fighting games, but can't get past the fact that your game has an anime art style. ^Is that coherent at all? It's supposed to make sense.
