Eric probably doesn't know exactly where you're from. He just heads towards cinci, and magically everybody's there, so he probably doesn't know who's from dayton and who's from cinci. Or, he didn't want to have to try and remember everybody, in case he left someone out and they got offended, or it's just easier to copy/paste whenever someone posts their info.

Does a person in the cin/day area wanna try and meet up tomorrow evening at Illuminaudi for GGz? Edit: I know I've been hyping up GGG lately, but this will be for AC in prep for ranbat since I haven't played that game basically all summer.

It's slash with #r characters unlocked/allowed.

honestly, I don't remember the matchups for Slash, but I'm under the impression that it's true probably because of nostalgia. It could be that I just don't remember how bad it was, but I don't believe that atm. People talking about using certain characters again are talking about johnny or chipp or somebody that's low-tier in AC. Chipp and Johnny are pretty good in Slash. Also, had the shortest lifespan of any GGXX, so it could be that the tiers didn't have as much time to settle as they did in AC.

Comparatively? COMPARATIVELY!? As in, if we compared Nu winning to Arakune winning, which one would we call a "good thing?" Um, I would say since they made Nu playable, that has been a good thing COMPARATIVELY. But yeah, it's not a good thing on the whole. Also, thread title should remain, because it will be funny to keep it like this, and it's easier to be lazy, and I don't want to have to learn a new thread title to look for. Also, Sean's a good guy. I don't see what's wrong with encouraging him in his day-to-day endeavors as well as in SBO.

according to twitter, all 3 teams lost. Also, either Cue played faust or the twitter people don't care enough to learn who plays who.

This is a sad day for GG players all over... Ohio. Seriously bummer though. I love that guy, and I know he was really trying to be ready for anything. Do you know what the match went like? Also, agree with Josh Ballard's post. Makoto is one of those characters that just does a lot of damage if you guess wrong once or twice. Don't know as much about 4, but Abel and Viper are all about mixups too as far as I know. Still, with teams I don't think single elim is a bad format.

Yeah, FAB's probably never played a good eddie before... They put America up against some monsters though right? Not that there's a team in the tournament that I'm not scared of.

So Fred, I heard your stick broke. SBO GG time in like A DAY! Go Sean Howard's team and Blacksnake's team. I can never find this thread anymore because I'm looking for the old thread title. I want to play GGG. Josh Balla(rd), come to AL ranbat next week and maybe we can play some GGG. Eric, you're welcome to, but you don't seem all that excited about the idea. Of course this is only tentative as I'm not sure if I want to go or not. It should be read as "I'll try to go if you guys decide to."

Marn got this lol. The spirit of Ruu will come down upon Marn and help him defeat his (Ruu's) old teammates... and N.O.

Are you guys noticing a decline in game centers in general or is it just the one?

Gross... but if I had a stick that sexy, well, I probably would too...

I wouldn't say don't throw her period, but you definitely do have to be careful. It's not like you stand to gain much from throwing her midscreen anyway since 6k bl loop doesn't work.
-
So in other words you're just saying to stay out of her throw range in the corner by using his longer pokes from a distance. I gotcha. Sorry if I sounded like a punk, man. Just didn't know exactly what you were trying to say.
-
Can you clarify here? I don't see exactly what you mean. I mean far s and 6k are moves that you would use on anybody in the corner, so are you just saying be especially aware of those options in the case of dizzy or what? Also, I've noticed you talking a little more about Testament lately. Did you drop I-no?
-
except if he frcs stunedge you're in trouble.
-
banned. Also, properly timed 6p clashes with vapor thrust on wakeup. Do close S or something after clash, then go into air combo or something. I'm not good at this matchup, and I haven't even really played this game in a while. Trying to remember. Throw into BL loop doesn't work on Ky. You can do a HSexe frc combo if you need the damage to finish it or something, but I usually just go immediately for oki after throw. Ky likes to airdash js, jhs sometimes. Learn to slashback the jhs since it's easy to practice in training.

Still looks better than DL.
-
Yes great job Kyle and friends. My favorite part was the rolling Testament combo.

OK I think everyone agrees that there's a certain point where you have to stop learning the game for them, and let them learn it themselves. I think we also agree that it's hopeless to try and teach the game to someone that just doesn't care, so let's focus on the following. 1. Is it possible to kill someone's interest in this game if they were otherwise interested? If so, how? 2. Once you get someone to try the game, is there a way to encourage them to stick with it?

I'm pretty much convinced that I'm not a very good teacher for this game. I think my problem is that I overwhelm people with a lot of information right off the bat, and don't know how to ease them into it. Part of me says that it's impossible to to teach the game unless people are willing to look stuff up for themselves, but I still think there is a lot that you can show them on your own before it even gets to that. So who has had success with teaching people how to play this game, and how did you do it? Is it possible to get somebody into it if they have no prior experience with fighting games? If so, I guess there needs to be a different approach for teaching somebody who knows how to play Street Fighter, and just teaching somebody from the ground up.

No jin you're just a master of disguise.

Yeah I have to say that I can't think of any reason why it would be ok to ban someone from Guilty Gear. If they're a good player, we WANT their competition, and if they're bad, we WANT their money. Also our community is small enough as is, and if you ban the right person with the right friends, that causes a rift in the community, which ultimately destroys it. Of course we may not want to trust certain people with certain responsibilities, but I think that's more of a case-by-case majority decision situation than an official ban forever situation. Oh yeah, and I just thought of another reason why it's best to have a local person from the tournament's location to run the tournament. Everybody knows most of the players that travel regularly, but if you have a local player who doesn't travel, but plays with some of the local players, then a local tournament organizer would be more likely to recognize that person's face. In other words, a local would recognize a higher percentage of the players at the tournament, which would help when looking for people when it's their turn. Also on the topic of locating people when it's their turn, maybe have like sort of a phone chain, but more like an IRL-finding-people-chain. The organizer would have like 5-10 (specific) people reporting to him. These people would be responsible for meeting 10 or so other people (specified by some list) before the tournament starts and knowing who they are and what they look like, so that they can grab them when their match is coming up. This way, the tournament organizer would know who to go to in order to get each person. Example: j1n is in charge of the whole tournament. Reporting to j1n are: Kenji SH_ ... ... etc. Now Kenji is in charge of finding: Brentquest Mamation Destin ... ... etc. Sean is in charge of: Doragonkoroshi Blacksnake Jais ... ... etc. and it goes on like this until everyone is accounted for. I wouldn't advise having an extra level of branching off, because it could get too confusing. In this example, I've used people I know and people I know they know, but it's a given that there will be some people that nobody knows, so the responsibilities can be delegated at random as long as these people meet who they have to account for before the tournament starts. People with this responsibility would ideally only be playing GG during the tournament, so that they can be available at all times to find people. Also, when they find out who they are supposed to look for, they should probably get a list of games they entered, or ask them and write it down so they will know where to find these people. Maybe I'm making things more complicated than they need to be, but this way, the tournament organizer will know who to go to when looking for someone.
