  1. So just to clarify, the Guilty Gear side tournament is happening on Friday, and the Blazblue side tournament is happening on Saturday, right? And do either have confirmed times?
  2. Cookeville's Final Round situation right now is... Interesting, to say the least. :P First we had four people interested in going, then five, then a possible six. So as we were trying to figure out how we were going to transport everybody, people found out it's going to be on Easter weekend. Now they're not sure THEY can go. Then someone found out you won't be able to enter side tournaments with a Spectator pass, so he dropped out. Now we're back to a possible five, and fo' sho' three. But since my car only has four seats, we'll still need to figure out what to do if it comes down to the former. XD Either way, I think we're all looking forward to coming down and hanging with the Georgia crew- not for the tournaments, but for the community. I think I might even be the only person coming from Cookeville who's actually competing in anything. :O
  3. All right Astaroth, stop abusing your superpowers to pull videos of us from the future. :P Jumping into (air) 360's? Check. Running away at the end of the second round? Check. 3 combos from Inferno Divider in one match? Check. End game with an Astral? Check. Man, I can't wait for CP~. Thanks for sharing.
  4. If you have shit coming from your boner, you probably need to seek medical attention.
  5. Do we know what we can do out of a Fatal Counter D. Inferno Divider yet? Assuming it's close enough for wallstick, of course.
  6. That was fucking awe-inspiring. So much respect.
  7. You mean you'll use it... AS the Unlimited Arakune, and when you have a health lead, right? :3
  8. Unlimited Arakune Glitch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxEnFcTSVrE
  9. Yeah, I'm not sure half a blowjob sounds too great. Also: ERMAGERD I FOUND A GLITCH TODAY GAIZ
  10. I swear, my perceptions are normally better than my ability to block high-low mix-ups. :P And once I get out of class (which I'm in right now, haha) I'm probably just gonna crash. Thursdays are always my roughest day of the week, and this week has been pretty killer, too. If you'd want to try some time tomorrow, though, I'd definitely be up for that. :]
  11. Wow, that DOES sound like a serious health problem. Hope you get your masculinity back soon, Mellis. EDIT: Owait, Nu, I get it. Ha ha.
  12. Just dropped the Final Round bomb on my mom. Did not go well. We'll see how this pans out.
  13. Thanks for clarifying, haha. I read your post over and over trying to figure out whether you meant you finished someone else's video and saw me in the comments, or you saw me at the end of my own speed run, and I couldn't find out which it was. My bad. :P And if you just happen to come across stuff of mine elsewhere that often, it probably just means we have really similar interests in games. On top of being brothers in an alternate universe, of course. :3 WHAT A WASTE. D: You should sell it so you can buy the game on PS3. Then play it. :D Fix'd
  14. No. Don't you DARE hush. Get comfortable with it, 'cause you have my attention and I'm listening.
  15. <3 I love this post, and agree 100%. ... so this means we're gonna start running Catherine, right?
  16. Oh, you don't know the half of it. :P Makes me happy people actually look at my Youtube page though~. Oh man, you made the right choice. $6 was a steal for it. EDIT: Oh, you meant you saw me in the comments. My bad. Yeah, that WAS an impressive run on that guy's part though. :P Honestly, giving the key to the Shortcut Man at the end of the Ice Caves is probably one of the worst things you ever have to do in the game (beating Hell aside, and finishing the game without collecting ANY treasure if you decide to go for the Achievement ;n;), so once you get over that, it'll be smooth sailing for the most part. And sorry to hear about what happened (in both those instances, really) but I totally know how you feel. Just last month, I was working on another speed run attempt. I really felt like I was getting the hang of things, even though luck was still a big factor in getting a good Shopkeeper layout in the second area. I proceeded to go through the game in record time, and even though I got hung up on the last area before Olmec because of a stupid mistake in finding the exit, I managed to reach the boss with 2:52 on the clock. No joke. And since I found an awesome strategy to take him down in about 30 seconds, I was totally set for a spot close to the top of the Leaderboards (the best last I checked was 3:30:521). So I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I get to the very bottom. Olmec just has to hit it one more time!... And!... A snake falls on my head and kills me. I. I wanted to cry. I died with 3:27:315 on the clock. Probably not enough to beat the best time, but I was so close to getting an awesome time and spot on the Leaderboards... And then that happened. T_T But at least I got it all on video, haha. Talking about it has kind of inspired me to edit and upload it, so I'll post a link once it's up in case you guys want to see it.
  17. Real talk, I love Spelunky. I really wish it had an online mode, because I'd probably play it all the time, even if it was shitty and laggy. And on an unrelated note, it sometimes scares me how much you secretly know about me, haha. :P
  18. I'm actually not too excited about the implications behind it. Better hardware means higher standards, and higher standards means more costly development from a game design perspective. I just don't want the emphasis to shift from making fun games, to making games that look perfect from a presentation standpoint. See: Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, etc. Now THIS I have an interesting opinion about. I think it's great that people who couldn't afford capture cards before will finally be able to share their gameplay and skills, and have the opportunity to make themselves known. There are a lot of truly great players who people don't know about simply because those players can't afford high-end capture cards, after all. However, depending on how this is handled, it could result in a severe oversaturation of game content on sites like Youtube. If that's the case, it wouldn't be so much of an opportunity for everyone to make themselves stand out- it would just make the more quality videos and players stand out even more. It'll make it harder than ever to secure a following for those who aren't the best of the best. Not that it isn't that way now- I'm just saying, I can't see that situation get much better after the implementation of the equivalent of an in-console capture card. That said, I'll be looking forward to seeing you guys's matches and stuff once this feature DOES launch. :3
  19. @Used game discussion: This is why I'm grateful we have three console competitors in the gaming industry. If we only had one, or maybe even two, console developers could implement something like the block of used games without worry. Mellis is totally right- nobody in the gaming industry wants to be the first to implement something like that, because if they do and their competitors don't, they'll be digging their own grave. There's really no right way to go about it. From an extreme standpoint, it's either tell gaming developers that they're going to have to suffer even more in the new generation of consoles with even pricier development costs, or tell consumers that the games they buy have no value outside their own consoles and accounts. Obviously, neither are acceptable for a thriving gaming industry, so a fair middle ground needs to be found. I disagree with things like online passes and the like, but I personally think those will be the way of the future. Only instead of giving you access to the game's online features, the new purchasable vouchers will instead give you access to the game in its entirety after you buy the disk/cart/whatever. That way, developers can continue making money on used game sales, the used game market (i.e. Gamestop) will have to lower their prices to compensate for the fact (so if a game costs $60 new but requires a $15 voucher to play, they might sell the game for $40 used), and gamers won't end up with useless frisbees every time they get through with a game.
  20. And only a couple weeks away from the thread's second birthday. :D
  21. I'm not 100% on that yet. I'm pretty sure everyone who'd be coming up with me is waiting to make sure they'll have enough money to go. Although if those people want to elaborate on their situation(s) in the thread, that'd be cool, too.
  22. Guilty Gear. Remember, it's like, out for PS3 and stuff now. :D Also, sorry for taking so long on shoutouts, guys. I've put off a ton of schoolwork the past few days, and now it's kicking my ass, haha. I'll try to get around to them Wednesday or something, but expect them to be brief. Oh, and I participated in a Melee tournament with .NiteSkye, Papstr, and Liquid John today. It was actually really fun, even though I lost my very first match. Now I feel kind of bad for jokingly trashing on SSB so often. :P
  23. @Matchups Discussion: We could assess the strengths and weaknesses of characters all day, and still each come up with different matchup numbers. Matchup charts and tier lists aren't facts- they're educated judgements based on a person or group's personal outlooks, which are all completely subjective. It's easy to come to a consensus and say "wow, it's really hard for someone playing that grappler to beat a good player playing that zoner," or "man, that character doesn't have as many good options in that situation as other characters." But when you try to assign arbitrary point values to those judgements and try to play your numbers off as fact, you're inviting people to disagree with you. I respect Star's decision to state his opinion and leave it at that in this instance. There's no sense in having a heated back-and-forth over opinions, especially when it's clear that you aren't going to change people's outlooks, and there's absolutely no reason to try goading someone into doing so to the point that he needs to reiterate his stance for five consecutive posts. If you think someone is wrong in his conclusions, there's nothing stopping you from stating why you think so, and either leaving it at that or picking up the discussion with someone else. But in my book, you don't win any brownie points by treating someone like an idiot when they don't explain why their opinion is different than yours. To be clear, I'm not saying I condone the spread of unsupported opinions as fact. What I'm saying is, you can't expect people to always elaborate on why they feel a certain way about something, even when you can share plenty to show why you feel differently. And when they don't, I don't think it's right to keep egging them on about it. Just my two cents.
  24. Damn, so how many people aren't going to be able to make it Saturday? The number seems pretty significant, and I kinda lost track. :/
