What kind of a question is that? It wouldn't be MTN unless we cram an unreasonable amount of people into Gamepro (i.e. more than zero). :D But yeah, I hope Sid can drive again this weekend. We've got six people in the group who want to go, and I can only (lawfully) seat four in my car. -

Aw, get better soon Milln. Being sick is no fun indeed. :[ To answer your question though, no, my car only has "four seats." QFT. Considering there are at least five other people in Cookeville who might be interested in attending Final Round, I'll have to prioritize by bringing people who want to compete in tourneys. But other than that, I guess it'll have to be first come first serve. Now to see how many overheads I can squeeze into one combo... :3 -

I just did some looking around, and it seems like the cheapest you're gonna find it for is at Gamestop. $25 for a used copy, or $30 for a new one. According to the stock locator, it seems like pretty much every store in Nashville has one. In case you'd like to check for yourself though: http://www.gamestop.com/Browse/StoreSearch.aspx?sku=952887&return=%2fdefault.aspx%3fnav%3d16k-3-King%2bof%2bFighters%2bXIII%2c28zu0 And sorry for being so quiet recently. I've been hella busy with school stuff, and on top of that, I haven't been feeling well recently, either. Since I just made the trip up to Kumite, I won't be able to attend the tournament in Chattanooga, unfortunately. -

I agree. But if Litchi and Hakumen are any indication, you don't need fantastic mobility to rank high on the tier list. I'm not trying to say Amane has something he doesn't- I just don't think his flaws are as exaggerated as everyone (and to an extent, the tier list) is making them out to be. -

Yeah, their mobility is freaking amazing- that's why their offense is equally great. I wasn't doubting their place in the list. I was just making the observation that Amane, who has a similar flaw in his defensive game, ended up on the other end of the tier list. Not sure if this was intended as an insult or not, but I totally agree. There's only so much I can grasp from watching gameplay videos. That doesn't mean I'm not going to make judgements based on what I see in those videos, though. I've noticed that. Even utilizing instant blocking, his close range normals don't seem all that great to interrupt pressure with, and his Distortion doesn't seem all that great for the purpose, either. There's always Counter Assault, but it sucks to have to waste meter just to make up for that fact. As for the damage part, his combo damage (especially outside Level 3) doesn't seem like the best, but CP BnB's don't seem to do all that much damage anyway (save a few characters, and especially when compared to Extend's). Besides, it doesn't seem hard at all to get to Level 3 Drill, and since his chip damage on it is so great, people are going to be expending Barrier to prevent it and make the moves even more positive than they normally are. Not that I really know the frame data on all those moves, but conceptually... Yeah, it's a thing. It might not be all that impressive in tourney play, but that doesn't change the fact that they do ridiculous damage if not Barriered, and that there are setups Amane can put you in where you have to block them. You can use your Barrier, sure, but it's definitely a much more finite resource than other BB's, and with the way Crush Triggers and Amane's specials work, it'll be much more difficult to know when you need to use it. I do agree with that last part, though. The hitboxes for most of his moves seem geared toward either a long or close-range, with not much emphasis on the mid-range. If he's kept at a mid-range, I do think he'd have trouble against a lot of opponents- but his mobility doesn't seem so skewed that he couldn't do an airdash forward or backward to alleviate that problem and put his range back into viability. EDIT: I understand that, but Barrier is a very important, much more limited resource in CP. Like I said above, it doesn't seem hard for Amane to get to Level 3- just a few blocked specials (which your opponent will likely see fit to Barrier anyway) and you're there. In the hands of someone who knows how to play the character, you will rarely see Amane's drill gauge overheat (though I will admit, it seems like an annoying mechanic to micromanage). And it's not like you can just use up all your Barrier and be perfectly okay until you get it back- because you get put into Danger for losing it all in CP, you have to be careful about when you do and don't use it. Against a good Amane, there WILL be times where you'll have to eat chip damage before you run out of Barrier, because if you don't, you'll lose even more health than you normally would. As for his mixups, yeah, they definitely seem like some of the worst in the game. But if he had good mixups on top of the whole godly chip mechanic thing, he'd be kind of ridiculous. tl;dr- I acknowledge Amane's flaws, but I think his unique offense is a strong plus, and I still don't think he belongs in C-tier. Judging from the performances I've seen in videos, I'd put him in mid to high B-tier, at the lowest. -

Are you kidding me? What am I missing about Amane that makes him C-tier? By design, he's a character that punishes you for blocking, which should make him a strong offensive character by definition, right? So what if he doesn't have any meterless reversal options? Tao and Valk don't either, and they're both S-tier according to the list. His range seems good from pretty much anywhere on the screen (maybe his mid-screen is lacking comparatively?), and his combo damage doesn't seem too bad considering how much they've been scaled since the new game. Seriously, what am I not noticing? -

I will not be entering Guilty Gear today. I tried practicing with my stick last night by taking Ky into Arcade Mode. It did not fare well. The stock stick in it felt so, so different from what I was practicing with last Saturday, and my execution was absolutely balls on it. So after losing twice to Sol (he's the second to last fight in Arcade Mode as Ky), and reading his win quote (something along the lines of "Now you know the limitations of your abilities), I took that as a sign that maybe I should try practicing with pad instead. So I played him with my 360 controller, and managed to barely win the first try. Boss I-No, on the other hand, was a different story. Now, I'm no noob to how she works- I'm aware of her patterns, and I know how to handle her random projectile supers. I just couldn't get hardly any of my specials to work when I needed them, especially when it came to DPs (and you guys know how much of a handicap for me that is ). Seven failed attempts later, I somehow managed to best her, but it left me extremely discouraged and frustrated. I can't compete in a game where I'm automatically at a disadvantage just because of my means of control. Last night, I was fighting my lack of competence in using stick, and the game's shitty ass input detection with 360 controller more than I was any opponent- and that was in Arcade Mode on Normal Difficulty. I'm sure you all can imagine how much worse it would be in a tourney setting. But anyway, I'll be heading up with Papstr and tret_tree at about noon. We should be at the venue a little bit after 2. See you guys then! -

Those new logos look great. Props to your friend for making them, Milln. Then this isn't your last year in Tennessee- it's your last HALF year. D: VOLPE DON'T GOOOOOOOOO Also, instead of practicing today like I should, I took the time to make you guys this Blazblue words of wisdom image. I think it'll really speak to you. -

PROFOUND. SADNESS. I'll make sure to drink an alcoholic beverage in your name, and rep Ky in Guilty Gear the best way I know how- like a total scumbag. -

I'll be entering this for sure. I'm still total balls at the game, but I'll have fun mashing buttons on it. :3 I'll be bringing my 360 + cables (both component and HDMI) with Persona and Guilty Gear. If it's too late to change Guilty Gear to PS3, I won't mind, since I'm pretty sure I'd be the only person there playing with a 360 controller + its analog stick (which is the only thing effected by the input drops). Besides, I was kinda forced into playing Guilty Gear on stick last Saturday, so I'll have some Ky experience on stick if I have to play on it at KiT. :3 -

Awesome, looking forward to seeing you there. :D I'm going to get annihilated in this tournament, guys. I haven't played or practiced Persona in more than a month, and it's been even longer since I tried to step up my game. Argh. -
