  1. I wish they named him FireBrand, also, I wish they played that one sweet organ song from Demon's Crest for his song.
  2. Well, yeah, but another reason why is because Capcom was representing SBO. That's why they got so many fill ins... That, plus, their crappy games are so popular (No matter how bad some are).
  3. I suppose. To be fair, I didn't give SBX a chance. I was pissed to hear it was announced on SBO. It felt like it was just there cause it was another Capcom game to fill the slot.
  4. I love how every game shows tier whoring at it's fullest, but when you get to Guilty Gear, there's a lot more diversity. The most picked isn't even top tier.
  5. Personally, I think Street Fighter 3 was possibly the best Street Fighter out there. Complex, interesting, and characters with interesting designs. Personally, I'm a guy who loves balance and even complain about if a my character has a move that's too good. However, Blade is right. They are trying to make sales. Honestly, Crapcom's marketing methods lately (Though people are so damned ignorant to notice) seems to be dragging in by the charts of fanboyism appeal and nostalgia. So instead of making something new and interesting, they made Street Fighter 4 and it sold to the huge amounts of pricks who left the fighting game genre in the first place. What brought them in? Nostalgia and the fact that they thought they were good at the game. When Street Fighter 4 came out, everyone would choose shotos mostly. It was a bit annoying cause people would defend Street Fighter 4's balance and horribly thought out gameplay. They added a damage scaling system, making combo characters much weaker, and kept Street Fighter 4 too close to Street Fighter 2. They kept a lot of things in SF4 that made SF2 unbalanced in the first place. Honestly, I think Capcom is going downhill. The problem is, people are continuing to buy from them. Marvel Vs Capcom 3 came out and people were getting hyped about it. Not because of it's gameplay, but because familiar faces were being thrown in everyone's favorite, crappy game. I still hear shit about how Marvel Vs Capcom 2 was the greatest fighting game ever (A stab to the heart for me from lowly, idiots who don't even know how to do a 3 hit combo, let alone what mixing up is.) (Quantity vs Quality. My friend and I played it for fun, that lasted 2 hours total. We spent 7 on Guilty Gear afterwards realizing the game gets boring and some of the characters are just not fun to play at all, so the list was drawn down significantly.) Anyhow, it doesn't matter how good the game is, how complex it is and all that to the majority. They want to see their favorite characters and to feel like they're good at the game. P.S. Don't criticize me about my post. At least take my comments as a possibility. Games that look like or were pretty crappy, or possibly tried nostalgia and simplicity: Resident Evil 5 (Goodbye Shinji Mikami : ( ) Devil May Cry (The new one coming out) Street Fighter 4 (Obvious reasons) Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (Obvious again) You know, I see something similar about these games besides them being made by Capcom.
  6. I don't know. I don't see Sol that often, but I'd guess he's used often enough. By the way, who's the most used character in Tournaments then?
  7. Well, I know it's subjective, but I think Guilty Gear XX AC is basically one of the best games ever. He and his group of friends disagree and think MvC2 is better. However, I think that the argument based on popularity is invalid. If I were to take him to Japan, his argument would be destroyed easily if that were the case. Though, then again, he believed MvC2 was fairly balanced considering how many people were in it. I stated to him however, that MvC2 is considered one of the (if not the absolute) most unbalanced fighting games ever. I also stated that people use a max of 8 characters. Though, thoroughly, you could argue that not even 8 characters get played. Why? Some are just used as support and aren't even played. They're so bad once they get in that the character doesn't even get the chance to fight. Anyhow, so a total of 4ish characters get played in MvC2 and the other 4 are spammed assists that don't even get played really. So you have about 4 characters that get played in MvC2, but I'll give him 8. In Guilty Gear, whether he believes me or not, everyone gets played. That's 23 characters. So, going off the 4, that's roughly about 5 times the amount of characters that get played in Guilty Gear as far as quantity goes. Estimating off the 8 (Which practically doesn't exist), that's about (Rounding to the nearest digit) 3 times as many about.
  8. His logic is a little faulty in my opinion. One fellow had stated that due to the game's popularity, it was a better game. However, I felt that argument was very faulty because, (This was my statement) if we were in Japan, the argument would change. He said I proved his point and if that were the case, I'd be right. However, I stated that I'd still have a bad argument, no matter how many people agreed with me. That all aside, I'm not sure what to say to him exactly. If I said that everyone played everybody in Guilty Gear, I'm not quite sure what to expect. And honestly, to say 8 was a bad exaggeration of how many characters are played in MvC2. 4 of those characters are used as assists and aren't even played. They get destroyed so fast that it's not even right to say they get played.
  9. Thank you very much. Again, we're talking Guilty Gear here. How many people actually get played in MvC2. 8 at most? All 24 characters get played in Guilty Gear.
  10. Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's more or less to make a point. This fellow thinks that since Eddie is top tier, we can only assume that he's the most played. Honestly, I think it's pretty faulty logic because 1. Every time I see a tournament video, I hardly see Eddie more than any other character, let alone Testament. That isn't to say, he's not played as much as the other characters. 2. Guilty Gear's tier list is based on who has the bigger advantage in general, not who's played the most. 3. We have no statistics to show who gets played the most. Anyhow, I don't think he'll accept the answer that everybody is played in Guilty Gear. There is no character played more than others. But I might just go with Kagami's answer, because I'm sure as far as scrubs go, you'll see those characters the most. Even then, I don't see him THAT often in tournament videos or matches I play in general. Hell, at a convention I went to, the winner of the tournament (Which I WISHED I could have gotten into. But the place had 3 people handing out tickets and the line was VERY long.) was playing Venom. A character that isn't even scrub level at all. (I got to play him later on. It was about evenish, but I was starting to figure him out.) Anyhow, if I had to guess, I'd say Chipp due to his flashyness.
  11. Hello, this isn't some thread for fan based purposes or such. The reason why I'm asking this is to prove Guilty Gear's level of balance and that it's not a "tier whore" game. Anyhow, whom would you guys say are the most played characters in Guilty Gear? I'm not asking who the best is, just the most played. Honestly, I've seen a LOT of diversity in Guilty Gear and it's hard to keep track of something like that.
  12. I agree. For those who don't know, Saki (Who's been in Arcana Heart 1, 2 and 3) is very rushdown. (Saki is a hold character as well). She moves quite smoothly as well.
  13. Yeah. I have fun with it too. The thing that turned me off was the fact that it costs super to roll and it's not very balanced. (Athena). But don't take too much in mind of what I have to say. : X @SonOfHeaven Really? The Netcode works fine? Maybe there is hope after all.
  14. I believe it. @HawkingBird Yeah. Actually, NGBC is pretty popular. Not that great in my opinion. Though, SNKP doesn't have too many recent releases I think... Besides, the remakes and 13 which will hopefully be console released soon. Personally, I'd be interested to see Waku Waku 7 on there.
  15. That won't happen. They don't really come to Dustloop often. Anyhow, I feel a bit bad. I've been off topic and it's probably pissin off the mods. Thanks. I was wondering when they'd come out. 2 Days is a good thing then. Know what I'm getting for Christmas... Then again, I already own 98UM. I agree. Twinkle Star Sprites would be sick, especially with an online feature. I guess of course, it's on 2DF (I know the name changed, but I like calling it that) has it, but it'd make it more familiar to a larger crowd and I bet it'd get popular if people took time to play it. Shmups aren't a popular genre, but a good one nonetheless.
  16. Actually, I heard that Mexico is better than them and that Japan's not that great at KOF. I'm not sure where you got the information that Japan is Godlike in KOF at, but the Japanese are now trying to go to Mexico in order to fight Juarez players.
  17. KOF2002Unlimited Match isn't. Neither is 98UM. Regular 2002 and 98 are. 2002UM has a much larger roster than even 2002, was rebalanced, has a whole new soundtrack, all new backgrounds, among other things. 98UM is very similar, it has new backgrounds, redone tracks, and was rebalanced (Along with having new characters).
  18. EX Kyo is higher than Kula and Gato. Also, Kula is very beatable. How much do you even know about the game? Oswald is pretty high too. You know, DarkGeese made a video of "North America's ignorance on KOF." You should see it. It involves someone like you. : ) By the way, Kula (One of the best KOF players) doesn't use Gato or Kula. But he won the tournament... Hm. You are absolutely right. Gato/Kula/Some other faggot. Duck King (S Tier)/Ryo (A Tier. Not even S tier.)/Oswald (S Tier, but not Dou Lon, Ex Kyo, not Gato, not Kula).
  19. @Haketh You're right. OTGs aren't really used that often cause SNK was smart enough to put a cost to them. They're used mainly with Malin's Leader Move and Dou Lon's. They're also used with Gato's corner combo and infinites. *Grabs Popcorn* So much hate : X @Gravelneed Personally, and I might be wrong, but this is why I think 11 wasn't as popular. (It's my favorite KOF by the way.) 1. Personally, I think it's lacking in everyone's favorite characters. The roster is big, but it has so many characters that haven't really been in the KOF series. So people may not have wanted to give it a chance. People always keep begging for their favorite characters, but if they're not in, they sometimes complain. (Hell, even I was a bit upset when Joe Higashi wasn't in 11, but I got over it once I realized "Wow, this game is fucking awesome!") 2. The new characters were unfamiliar. Not only did they not have popular characters, but they had characters that never really appeared in the KOF series or made rare appearances. (This reason might be redundant) 3. KOF11 plays different than some of the other KOF games. Even though they have the same concept as far as combos (Poke, Command Move, Special, Super, etc...) it's more solid. In my opinion, 98 and 2002 are much more loose than 11. They're more freeish but still kinda solid. 11 is pretty damned solid. The combos have been set up, but they've been much more thought out. There are few combos that the designers have that weren't planned out. (There are still quite a few such as the top tier character's combos or the few corner infinites, but you get what I mean. No?) Anyhow, again, I think the real big thing though was (Again) that people didn't get their characters so it turned them off. That and it wasn't 98 or 2002.
  20. Not too many people play Shmups though to be honest. Something like that might make it too. And I'm not sure Breakers or even Breakers Revenge would make it.
  21. The reason why it probably took so long is because the 360 is the bigger console compared to PS3. (People bought the PS3 less because of several reasons. They didn't care about the Blu-Ray, they thought Sony were a bunch of assholes for taking away shit [Console wars "-_-] and the most popular probably being that it's too expensive. Though, you don't have to pay for internet and pay for bullshit Street Fighter controllers that still work less efficiently than a regular PS3 controller.) Not to mention the fact that outside of Mexico and Korea (Along with Japan), their games don't get much support compared to Street Fighter. So they probably figured they'd release it on the more popular console, see how it does and if things go good, they'd put it on the PSN. Anyhow, I'm glad they're finally putting it on the PSN. Though, I already have KOF98UM, I just want to get KOF2002UM (Though, I technically own it already.) By the way, is anyone fond of 11? It's one of the best KOF games in my opinion. Very solid and has pretty good balance considering it's the first (Hopefully they'll have a remake with even more characters, re-balance, among other things.)
  22. Hopefully they won't screw up on the port like they did with Arcana Heart 2. Still, it's a bit bizarre that they would suddenly release Arcana Heart 3 into America without doing so with 2.
  23. My favorite is personally the girl team's song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWKyROAOFnw
  24. I see. That's an odd way to play him, but anyhow, if they try that (This is something I usually try to use. Super Jump it. Get use to all the jumps (Light jumping, super light jumping, regular jumping and super jumping). If they're close and you know they're going to use the projectile, run at their face and punish. The projectile whiffs if you get to his face (His hitbox extends forward), it'll make them feel stupid. Anyhow, if they grab you out of rolling and you know they're going to do it, you have to learn the anti-grab method of KOF. Press forward + SP then roll your thumb onto strong kick. If someone grabs in KOF, that's the way you get out of them. As for your characters. You know Shermie's spin has invincibility frames, yes? You can probably get past his crap like that. Honestly, I'm surprised that someone is using O. Chris this way. Anyhow, get in, Super Jump OVER him (You don't have to land a hit just yet. If you know they're going to DP, land and block). If he does the light one, you can blowout. That or get a bit of a distance, just close enough so you can run at him and punish his projectile but far enough so he can't DP you and you can punish that too.
  25. I like Hinako too. She's a very interesting sumo wrestler who does really good damage. She's kinda simplish to use. Also, O. Chris and Kensou were nerfed. They're not so bad though. If you want to get past Orochi Chris, when he throws out his projectile, you can run up to his face before it comes out and it whiffs. You can punish it like that. As for Kensou, he's not that great either. What exactly is bothering you about Kensou? (Is it Regular Kensou or EX Kensou that's troubling you?)
