First of all, that's a bit rude. I'm not forcing this information on you. Second, I agree, it should only be given if someone can't choose. Also, I said EASIER characters, not EASIEST. Choosing Dizzy, Jam, Zappa, Faust, A.B.A, Millia, Venom, Johnny, Robo-Ky, Bridgette, I-no, or some of those other characters doesn't sound very easy to me. Someone like Sol Badguy or Ky Kiskie or pretty easy to pick up in my honest opinion, but the roster is pretty hard to master. (Well, maybe not Eddie, but even then you STILL have to know what the Hell you're doing.)

@Narcowski I see... Well, like I said earlier, go easy on them. If they win a few matches or feel they're good at the game, they'll most likely take a bigger liking to the game. I'm going to say something and it's no big secret. The majority loves winning If someone wins enough at something, they usually feel like they're good at it. If they feel like they're good at it, they might pick it up more. From there, you can teach em BnBs, bursting, and the more important features of the game. Eventually, you can get into the smaller details when you can tell they're committed to the game. Try to still hold back some punches because people tend to be sensitive when they feel like they haven't improved and are discouraged. They see a better light of the game, but see lesser of themselves and normally stride away because they feel like they haven't improved. Always encourage the person you're fighting with. Teach them (not directly) playing to win. If something works, keep doing it. I know that there's a lot to teach, but you always have to take a step at a time and try to let them learn without killing them. Translation - Play like a newb to motivate the newbs to play. You might even learn some things from it. Another popularish character to show is Chipp Zanuff. I don't know why, but he's actually quite popular. His stuff looks pretty cool but "typical" as my friend puts it... I don't really blame him, Chipp is kinda typical for a rushdown character, but he's pretty sweet. Anyhow, that's my advice.

I see... Well, I won't get started on SF4. Personally, I think SF4 is the joke of fighting games but if I rant about that now, it'll lead elsewhere. The best way to make someone stop playing something is to play "unfair". (When I say that, I don't mean literally. Most people still have that idea where using "cheap moves" is gay.) Anyhow, some people are unwilling to get into fighting games because it doesn't have "cool 3D graphics like SF4." (Personally, I think SF4 looks like a bunch of ugly ass gorilla designs of Capcom characters) So, you lose a bit of the crowd because of that detail. I remember hearing people whine at my College while watching a 2D version of something (of a video game) about how they didn't use advent children graphics. Anyhow, another way to kinda of draw a crowd in is to just show your enjoyment a bit. If something totally dumb happens in the game (Usually, it's somewhat rare), laugh about it. People don't usually like learning about the small details in the beginning, so don't mention too much at once. Progressively let them know stuff when they get more into the game. Usually tip off the player to using the easier characters in the game (Regular Sol or Ky Kiske), it'll get them to feel the game fast enough and normally, people who are new tend to choose the easiest character to use. (That's why a lot of people choose Ryu in SF4 "-_-) Now then, some people are a bit headstrong and don't want to get out of learning their characters. You can usually try to leave them alone for a bit and try to move around, showing how good some of the characters are or how fun it is to play with some of it. I hope this helps...

Yeah, that's actually the reason I think as well. Blazblue is very simplified to Guilty Gear. Anyhow, it's a bit hard to revive the scene. The thing I notice in the American scene is the less that they have to work to play for the game without it being total crap (Total crap being something that's very flimsy like SFEX), the more they play it. Not to mention that a lot seem to fall into the nostalgia factor which apparently automatically makes something good. But anyhow, it's a bit hard to get Guilty Gear up and running because of it's complexity. I think Guilty Gear is one of the most complex if not THE most complex 2D fighter I've ever played. From it's damage modifier system to it's false roman cancels and all around. People are probably too intimidated to play like that. I'm not too good at marketing, but I know how people's minds work at times. If two good Guilty Gear players are fighting, people might be attracted to play (Especially if you go easy on the new people. People seem to be attracted more to a game if they are "good" at it. Or if they at least think they're good at it.) So anyhow, if you teach them a bit or try to play on their level and help people build up, it can get pretty big.

Well, I'm not sure if it'll be too productive to make this thread, but I'm hoping it will be. Anyhow, as we all know, Blazblue is the "spiritual successor" of Guilty Gear. I've seen that Guilty Gear tournaments have died down a bit because "Blazblue is the new Guilty Gear." Personally, I don't think this is really a true statement and that both games have small similarities, but in actuality are two complete different games. In my personal opinion, it's like comparing apples and oranges. They're both fruits, but they're two totally different fruits. I don't want this thread to have any real comparison just because that's not why this thread was made. I love both Blazblue and Guilty Gear (Guilty Gear more, I'll admit my bias now), but playing both in depth, they are two totally different games. That's one big problem in my opinion, people try to compare the two games and think "Well, Blazblue is here, you can play that instead." But Guilty Gear =/= Blazblue. Again, I think the mechanics work almost completely different. Now then, the tournament scenes been down in Guilty Gear from what I've seen. They play them at some big tournaments at times, but it's still not as popular as it use to be. Does anyone run any tournaments around their countries? Any ideas on how to revive this wonderful series? I wanted to try to go to a tournament in Michigan and play Guilty Gear there, hopefully run it back up (I couldn't make it due to technical difficulties). Is anyone else trying to run it back up?

Anyone know if there's any Tiger Knee use for Hirentotsu? (2147B) I mean, getting a hit in is good, but can it combo after you do this or is it only good for finishing off Aerial Comos? (I'm sure there's probably something that can either be done on counter hit or if you use a Rapid Cancel. Maybe I haven't been pressing the right things to combo afterwards.

I see... Kinda funny, that was quite a quick response and I didn't even ask yet XD. Anyhow, by what means would you recommend I record my matches? My brother has a camera, however, it's expensive... I'm not sure if he'd let me use it, plus, I'm not sure how I'd upload it to my computer. *Poor* But the real player thing wouldn't actually be too bad cause that's what I normally do. Anyhow, I guess I'll attempt to get myself recorded on video some way or another. Maybe my friend has something we could use "^^

I see... Thanks very much. No worries, I'm aware it isn't really "scaling up". I just say that because it's kind of what it is in a way. I think the correct terms are "Positive balance" and "Negative Balance". But does it really land you a Counter Hit when it's on positive balance? Well, either way though, you do a lot more damage because of it. But moving on, I'll have to ask him. I don't have as much experience with Guilty Gear, mainly because we (oddly enough) didn't play it much. (Me and my friends) Which is quite odd because even way before Blazblue came out, it was their favorite game. Maybe they thought I wouldn't like it or something, I have no idea : S Anyhow, I guess I'll ask around there. Thanks very much excelence.

Did some of that. I know about the grabbing thing, the problem is though if you check the matchup section for Dizzy, there's not much to read. I mean, there's quite a bit at the top, however, going down the list... Some of them don't even have responses at all. It's just a bit annoying, cause I really like Guilty Gear and people are quitting the series for Blazblue and think "It's an upgraded version!" But that's not true at all. If anything, they're the opposite of each other. Guilty Gear - Guilty Gear is more chaotic and freeflowing. You worry more about dealing damage to your opponent in any way possible rather than just pulling off a combo. Of course, your major concern is performing a combo, but doing hits is good too (Most likely because of how the damage scales up if you keep hitting a blocking opponent). It's not organized, things kind of happen there and then and it's heptic. I won't say ANYTHING can happen in this game, but damned near. Blazblue - Blazblue is more combo based, you WANT to go for combos almost no matter what. Hitting them once or twice is good, but not as good as combos. It's easier to notice when to punish things and more set in stone and organized. This will happen if this happens and it's easier to comprehend. Plus, things are a tad bit slower and possibly less heptic. People say the characters are the same too, but not really by that much. The mechanics are just completely different from Guilty Gear. The characters might be somewhat similar in concept, but the game it's self is just more organized and straightforward. Not to mention that it's much easier to perform combos. Anyhow, I practice alot with my friend(s) (The reason I put that there is because I usually practice with one certain friend and play with my other friends). We choose different characters and such, but normally I don't learn too much because one of my friends is an obssessor and tries to take advantage of a characters certain abilities (Basically spamming it over and over again because he knows he can't be punished easily if he does it, or he just kind of times it well enough and just turtles).

I'd actually like a teacher. The thing is, I'm no newb to fighting games, however, I have trouble sometimes in Guilty Gear. I mean, I know how to play and such, using barriers, bursting to get your tension up or to keep your opponent off your, and I can tell that the game is more or less combo orientated and how the damage scaling system works, but I can never seem to find any particular way to punish my opponent. My main character is Dizzy in Guilty Gear Accent Core (Plus). Can someone help me? I normally try to utilize her Okizime game (Still has trouble doing it as well as other people do) but only use her bnb combos while having trouble false roman cancelling her ice spike... Bleckh, I have to much to work on her with though.

Yeah, but Overture isn't a fighting game, it's more of a beat em up, a badass looking one, but still... The biggest problem is that people see Blazblue as the "spiritual successor" instead of thinking of it as it's own game. Honestly, I think Blazblue and Guilty Gear should be two different worlds completely and that they are. I've heard people say that Blazblue is a better version of Guilty Gear, but they're nothing alike in my opinion and honestly, I can only half agree and half disagree. In Guilty Gear, everything is more loose and free. Everything and anything can happen while you're fighting. With Blazblue, it's more set in stone and not as heptic. That's what I think at least... Blazblue isn't as freeflowing though, but a small bit smoother and more organized.

I'm considering taking up Hazama myself as a secondary, however... Do you think anyone's gonna make a video like the last Blazblue? It was very informative and helpful actually. Anyhow, I'm intrigued that Hazama has a different stance thing. One of my friends is considering taking Hazama up cause his moves seem similar to a hold characters, but after some investigation, I think he'd stick to Carl. My other friend says he's a... Erm... Ah well, I forgot the name of it, but it seems like he only uses only one combo normally instead of various ones. Ah well, anyhow, I think I'll try to use him for a bit, I never found a secondary in Calamity Trigger, so he might be it. (Even if I don't like his personality much)
-
Yeah... It's really annoying, the thing is, if something works for him, he'll keep doing it. I mean, he'd use this same tactic against Rachel, V-13, Noel, or any other character. He's not very good the game it's self, he just doesn't seem to realize that it only works on Tager, I think he just thinks I'm not that good compared to my friend Andy (Whom I can beat pretty well with Tager) who whipes him out with Taokaka or Noel. Anyhow, I guess I'll try to jump in and block, but he doesn't fall for grab buffers or rather, he always continues to jump and keep his distance. Anyhow, if I don't punish his long range slashes, he'll continue to do em. Let me explain everything that'll happen "^^ *Stays away* *Zones with 3C or 2C* *Uses 6C* *Blocks High* *Gets kinda close just far enough so I can't hit him or he'll do a 3C, then does a j. C* *Backdashes and goes for a grab* *Double jumps and then punishes me* *If I don't do a grab, he'll find a way to get away from me* *Tries to do a 2D and buffer into an A grab* *Hits me out of the A grab that I was trying to suck him into, even the ones I suck him in with* *Sometimes jumps and air dashes in, but only close enough so he can hit me with the edge of his sword* *Does a neutral D drive hoping it'll hit him before he comes so he can suck him in with Atomic Collidor, I can't backdash grab him either cause he's too far* As you can see, he doesn't do any combos, unless he hits me, then he does a very simple combo that I punish if he ever does outside of hitting me. He will never stop this tactic ever. Even if I block every single thing he does (Which I will), he will just continue. I'll try getting in his face, but the battles will continue like this forever. Also, the only reason he plays Hakumen most likely again is cause he does alot of damage fairly easy... Though, I don't think he realizes how hard Hakumen is to use when you actually USE him.
-
That's kind of the problem... He's very, very, very patient... My friend will NEVER stop zoning me if he knows that he won't get punished for it. He will continue to do this over and over and over again, we literally spent a half our battle (When I play matches offline, I do Unlimited time) and he continued to do this. He jumped, hard slashed just far enough so that I couldn't grab him afterwards. He rarely used his Magatamas ever and just continued to attack me, if I keep running he'll STILL do it. If it works, he'll do it forever and ever and ever. ;-; It's soooo irritating... I mean, he doesn't do combos, he just makes sure he's far enough to hit me with the edge of his sword and jumps if I try to do anything, but if I try to jump attack him, he'll just hit me before I get near him and he won't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, stop this.
-
Possibly, but the thing is, if I try to do anything to try to zone him, after the first attack, he jumps or double jumps if necessary, then uses his Hard slash to punish. It's the most annoying thing ever too cause it feels like this game isn't Blazblue anymore and it's a turtle fest, plus, I don't want to turtle too much myself cause I get the negative penalty fast. He normally only does it. I can't grab him cause he continues to jump to and even if I super jump, he use the double hop to avoid getting hit instead.
-
Yeah, he's not very good at the game to be honest, I'm just falling for his crap for some odd reason. Thanks by the way, also, I try to save up the projectile, but he's not that dumb, we've been playing fighting games for a long time and he's a very, very, big turtle at times. In other words, he'll wait forever until I use it and either block, or jump in the air high enough so I can't hit him with it at all. I have a harder time IB though to be honest. I'm a bit scared to do it at times unless it's during the middle of a hit. Also, he realizes that I can't hit him low from far enough and always blocks high if I do the 6C, so when he does do it, I do use 6C, but he recovers too fast and blocks it. I'll keep trying and take SolBadAss's advice, but... I can only prey T_T

I'm prepared to make the most disgraceful post I've ever made. My friend (He plays Obsessor style) defeated me with Hakumen. If he was to face anyone else like Rachel, Ragna, or even Bang, he would get his shit wrecked. But, here I am with low tier Tager and I plan to stick with him. This is pretty much his strategy. He stays away from me and presses his 3C, just far enough so I can't grab him, but close enough to reach me. He jumps and does his C attack and double jumps again and does his C attack. If I try to Jump in and attack him, he hits me with the C attack. If I do a 2D, he'll jump and hit me, then get away and even if I hit him and try to buffer into a 360A, on block, he can punish me for some odd reason. Alot of the times, he'll jump at me and try to hit me with the C attack, just far enough so that I can't backdash and grab or even grab once he lands, or far enough so that I can't do a regular hard, or far enough so I can't do a 2C, or high enough so I can't do a regular D, and if I try to grab him with an Atomic Collidor, his sword will just hit my face while being sucked in. Unfortunately, he's very patient and even if I block everything he does, he'll continue to repeat it. I try jumping in for an attack, I tried using the forward C after he does the 3C, I tried doing a jump in 360A, I tried doing a regular C, I tried using the regular D, nothing worked against that. Anyhow, I feel like a total friggen scrub now cause I can't defeat a tactic that's being repeated over and over and over again. What should I do?

I gotta say... After watching some matches of Rachel in Continuum Shift, I must give you my sympathy... Even as a Tager player, I think what happened to Rachel is very unjust. I'm quite sure the LokeTests are Done and I'm not quite sure who didn't point out the obvious... She was obviously destroyed instead of balanced. I mean, she still has a chance of winning, but... Well, I'm very much sure you guys know what happened considering... But anyhow, I just want to point out that I'm a Tager player, and even I think what happened to Rachel was really bad, even if she does harass me with that damned frog. Anyhow, I really must sympathize with you Rachel players, people state "She's not bad, she's just not good." Well, not good is pretty much bad in Blazblue, because everyone else is pretty much good, making Rachel kind of bad now. Is it impossible to win with her? No, but is it hard as fuck now? From what I've seen, she looks like the hardest character to play now and with the least benefits. There's nerfing, and then there's rape... And Aksys has turned into a pedophile now

Alright, I'm about to ask something and I'd have to either be a crazy son of a bitch or a brave fool to ask this on here... I've watched some videos on Tsubaki and well... She doesn't seem that good, maybe it's because the lack of people who know how to actually user her correctly, or perhaps it's the new health bar ratio that's been set for this game (Everyone's health has been raised immensely so that matches won't end so soon). Anyhow, what exactly are her strengths and weaknesses? I'm aware what her drive does, it's similar to Sol Badguy's whom charges and has more improved special moves. But she doesn't really look too strong even with some of the stuff she's given, again though, perhaps I just haven't seen people using her properly. I would actually like to be wrong and for her to be just as excellent as the rest of the cast. (In other words, I want a balanced game) So please, I wish to be informed. One more thing... Does this mean that the Loketests are done now and that they're finished balancing out the game? Cause I'm still a bit worried about the balance still (Kinda mostly concerned about Rachel, she looks... Not good at all, I mean, not horrible, but still...)
-
Eh, this has probably been stated a billion times at least, but through the inspiration of Mike_Z's Iron Tager.
-
Hazama actually looks quite interesting, I'm actually considering him to be my secondary for CT, my only problem is my personal bias against character personalities. I'm not very fond of Hazama's personality, however, his play style has struck me as (To say the least) interesting. Hopefully, this Blazblue will be more balanced (However, I feel that CT got a lot less credit than it deserved. People exaggerated the balance of the game is if it were broken, but even Tager stands a chance against V-13). I have some concern for Tsubaki though, she doesn't look too good, though, it could just be the people playing her that I've seen. Anyhow, I've seen excellent things from Hazama, and hopefully, I will see much more by the time of CS's release.

Alright, this might sound quite newbish... But I always seem to suffer when she does that damned Forward+B. I can't think of any way to beat it, I've tried using an A Grab, that didn't work, I tried j.2C, that wasn't fast enough, I tried using 6C, that wasn't fast enough apparently, I can't for the life of me figure out what to do if a Rachel continues to spam that move, it's quite annoying, especially since they do it at just a distance to where you can't grab them. Help me please
-
Thank you Johnny, you've been a Hell of a guy to say the least (What I mean to say is, you've been really helpful as far as my visit to this site goes, we should grab a beer XD) But in all seriousness, I think I will take my time in learning him then. Thanks very much ^^ Got any tips for me or videos you can share?
-
Zat so? Hm... If that's the case, would it be worth my time still learning someone like Marshall Law? :S I mean, I'm a bit worried if I'd be able to access him well enough in Tekken 6
