When starting, mostly any charchter in the game can be used at a basic level (if we exclude some chara that have particolar mechanics like ABA or Robo-Ky) That means that every chara can make simple gatling (like P-S-H-special or Overdrive) and make some damage. At the same time, every chara have many levels of understanding and difficulty, even Sol or Ky. I suggest you try everyone a little and choose the one is most interesting/fun for you.

This guy said GG it's his first 2D fighting game, and you guys already started talking about FRC? That's nonsense. Anyway, for beginning Sol or Ky, as you argued, is the most simple charachter. With easy and direct moves/strategies. I suggest you stuck with them until you are familiar with the game system, and then you can choose your charachter.

Lol, the special bar charges at the speed of light, you get 1 bar and 1/2 when get hitten by a b&b. O_o And since lv3 moves seems to do a LOT of damage, I think it needs to be changed a little

I'm stunned again by the quality of the tunes, it's actually superior to many other fg ost around. really, it's awsome. Changing subject, not having a teleport for twilight would be lame, I mean, it appears as a typical spell of twilight in many episodes so...

At the moment I think they're busy with making the voices for the character, after all the casting, so...no concrete news on the gameplay. I just hope they fix the games engine, the game itself looked too fast and with a bad framerate.

Analysis/Commentary/Review/Discussion of GG's story

Well, if you have to raise a child and camp often I think some basic cooking is required, especially if you have just a couple (100+) of years, imho. -
Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
Messed up a few hours today with Valentine and Izuna's servants, especially after I looked at the japanese wiki (witch is EVERYTHING). well, nekomata are awsome. I was also using them wrong. The main use I had for them, if we exclude to be fast->fast reaching ghost) was to be an Armor counter...but their main rule seems to be magic and ranged counter :o In fact, it is not that they only have a priority for ranged and magic, but have a particolar attack that do a big amount of damage to them, from great range, very fast and high in the air (avoiding incoming attacks). Twin trigger dies in one hit. Love them, splitting a unit and using single nekomatas to support kappa triplets or else is <3 .as well finally to be my best trick against Valentine, that was my hell matchup D: Ok, next I've tried a little Valentine's elites (and combo training). usually, depending on how the match goes, I used to spawn just Charlotte or Mille-feille, rarely miss tiramisu most for using her as a bodygard. Eclair seemed very weak to me but...Eclair's skill to neutralize ghost is AWSOME. In Belcanto valley1, it can neutalize from below (like, from ghost 4) the ghost below, and can shot from GREAT ditance (like from ghost 1 to 7). The cooldown is also fast (10 seconds) so you have some ghost neutral at the right time. seems also to be useful before the end of a round, the japanese wiki suggests to take the ones nearby the enemy MG. Also the Japanese wiki make notice of its particular IA, that make a priority on running away enemies before than ghosts, but I haven't tried this out since I cannot register in training enemy's action. About the master, I finally get why 2y is that hateful and useful: at the right distance (or if the enemy tries to rush) it hit behind the enemy, so it can't be blocked. That, the awsome range, low tension cost and the possibility to be used as a meaty make me love it. Oh, and I finally get how to drop servants without stop: I know that the capture trick is a basic, but since I haven't read it anywere i really didn't know how to perform it. last two thing: Pandaking I sometimes try to invite you to a play, but you never answer: I have to keep becuse it's not you on the console or what else? D: -xSolBadguy: sorry for yesterday, while I was waiting a random guy joined, and since you was still in Cs I thought you wanted to finish the trial and I started the match. Oh, I've also stole you trolling setup with Izuna :3 -
What Pachi needs to do with the Guilty Gear franchise
Fenrir Werwolf replied to tataki's topic in Guilty Gear General
That's not true. Charged stun edge is a wonderful tool especially for okizeme, but basic stun edge is used in many ways for pressure, zoning, and so on. -
What Pachi needs to do with the Guilty Gear franchise

Uh? So you want to make the combat game system worste than actually it is? I have the impression you have not tryied GG2 seriously 'till now, since it's not a DW game, but a competitive multyplayer one. But forgetting about that, there is not already a thread on "what do you want from the next GG"? -
Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
As I already said to you working like this wont led you too far. As any beat'em up, do not learning combos, combat basics, safe/unsafe attacks etc will only led always in defeat in master vs master combat (unless you're surrounded by servants). Do not watching repays for trying to understand what mystakes did you made, and why the enemy was superior will cut every chance to improvements. I'm a "beginner", but I can take you very fast and with no difficult even in one round. i'm not telling you to kill yourself and spent days on it, but GG2, as well as GG, is a game that necessitate a little work before, to undersand it and make it shine. ^^ BTW, fun fact: there is a little comunity of new americans playing it in last months. They had like 200 or more fights, so I tryied to challenge some of them (one had like 1000 fights). Well, they actually do not know even the more stupid basics of the game. A NICE COMUNITY -
It's a looong work to do, with many skilled people and countless fight. every aspect of the chara must have be examinated, every combo discovered. You agree it's not an easy task. That's why it's impossible, just that, no intention to do the lazy short-attention-span arcade player lol. And that's also why current tiers are made by japanese comunity, btw.

Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
Double post! First, I want to thank xSolbadguy for the matches, and first time to had been playing at his 4 am D: Also, last time lag was better, but still a presence: sometime it seemed good, and then..PAM giant lag teleport-combo failed. For the rest, my xbox keeps freezing sometimes, sorry for that. Too bad because it was becoming interesting, and not like the other two that reached a point where -oh no i'm fucked-. Damn, Sol is fun. I feel like I cannot use Izuna's tribe in a good way, Sol is more direct and I like this aspect. maybe I shold use him more :psyduck:Also defeating large group of servants in three second, as well spamming gun flames in DI have its attractive Oh yeah, played also with Zex immortal. there lag was massive, masterVs master was impossible, sidestepping things was usuless and became a defeat lol. Btw, with sol do not use combo you use against master. Use L<-X, X, or charged X and then RC, or <-x, ->x or Y to wipe out large group of servants. -
Tier list is compiled after maaaany play, and by capable people (aka: japanese comunity). Why someone should lose INCREDIBLE amount of time in it? And those modes are made for fun and as an extra (as well as the EX), there will surely be unbalanced and broken shit. Obv IMHO

Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
At the moment the only community playing this game is the japanese. In the right time you can find find 20 or more people online, usually doing 2on2. europeans do not play this game, while the good americans post in this forum (and barely plays anynmore due to lack of people), and due to the fact they are somehow nearby to Japan I think they can play somehow against them... The others are americans that had started recentely the game, and join online, sometime usually cannot even lock on, and quit after a few tries. Sometimes I create a room for 1on1, but if someone from jp joins it's like having 310 ms of lag :/ like that, master vs master it's almost random due to lag. The reality is that in the west this game is death, and i think it's little late to create a community. -
Guilty Gear FAQ Thread - Ask your questions here!
Fenrir Werwolf replied to Kairi's topic in Guilty Gear General
Since in the end GG and BB are quite two different games, it's better to get used to it from the beginning without comparing the two games too much. Also, one big difference is that in GG you have to actually have a real okizeme play: in BB everyone can just roll, and the most setup on wakeup are random punches. Here not only you have to work on enemy knockdown, but since every chara can end a combo with a sweep... Also in GG tension bar is needed for many stuff, so you have to take a smart look on it. Frc and the other advanced stuff comes later. -
Carl is not THAT difficult. Most of the part is to get used in controlling two charachter at once, and to work pressing and releasing D, as well as to proper play in a way you learn to position Nirvana . Nothing impossible, it comes with experience, I think that the dog with Zappa in GG is more difficult to control :o
-
Well, I see many people complaining about this, and my answer is: just play it. As every new game, you just have to get confident to it. Make Arcade mode with some character or story or whatever before challenge mode..those are for combo. For the basic just remind that in many cases you can do A->B->C->super and it's ok, you'll get how to move 8airdash and so on) just with experience. That works also on GG :P

Beat 'em up are mode for arcade...and so usually for japan's market. The most important thing, in order to make people play over and over the same game, is to make a good and balanced gameplay, as well as some good visual. Console releases are less important, and secondary to the rest. Of corse, when we switch th focus to the west, they became important, because the 99% of us doesn't have a Mikado under their house :/ But also in those cases, the most important thing is to be arcade perfect. Story mode and this kind of think are just...supplementary. Sure they can improve the target and buyers a little, but you have to consider that 80% of the money is made by the arcades. Also, even talking about console releases, story mode and other think do not make a game popular. I don't think SFIV sold well 'cause of the story mode :/

Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
Please guy, add me, I play against japanese but...too much lag makes Master fights impossible D: (I'm from Europe). I ususally engage them and found me death before I understand what happened lol. That of course doesn't count against Guilty blood and similar, in those case it's just... rape, lag or not. I've also saw some americans today (more affordable, 132 vs 320), but they first kicked from the room and probably blocked me after I send an invitation...oh well. ANYWAY Is the daiborochi that useless? I mean, one strike of this thing means death for the opponent, and since it ignores enemies... If you find an unwatched path, it somehow sneak direct to the enemy MG. I've tried to send it as a loung cource action and it worked :O One hit--->0 barrier---->rush--->death -
? You people do KNOW that BEUs are arcade games, right? Online shit, stupid modes and this kind of stuff do not belong to them, only to their successive console release (*secondary*)

Analysis/Commentary/Review/Discussion of GG's story
Fenrir Werwolf replied to danceljoy's topic in Guilty Gear General
In fact, the first GG was the one with better story, design and charachter, but worst gameplay...and it's obvious why. It was, in fact, a console only game, born from the idea, draws, music and mind of a single man (Daisuke Ishiwatari). Still, the game sucked, but it get a nice feedback. The X series is intended, on the opposite, for the arcades: that's the reason why "story" is just a background. In fact, X story is thin, as well as ending. The story mode for XX is just, for me, as an extra for console releases. If you see in that way, the new charachter born in the arcades version do not have detailed background, relationship or story for this reason: they was born for an arcade game, so gameplay was the most important thing (think, for example, to Venom). @Blade I think that in the begininning Justice wasn't thougt to be a female... I think that the fact it was a female came later. as you state, Baiken was just an extra charachter, based on rurouni Kenshin :3 -
Analysis/Commentary/Review/Discussion of GG's story
Fenrir Werwolf replied to danceljoy's topic in Guilty Gear General
? And didn't (sequence after or befor you unlock Baiken)? None of those. Japanese doesn't have a difference for female or male names so it wasn't clearly stated in the beginning. Also, Baiken was just an extra charachter. You could use her only in vs mode, so there's no real reference on what you're saying. I think that 90% of GG story is contained in the first chapter for ps1 and in its booklet...you should all check it out before talking. -
Guilty Gear 2: Overture released
Fenrir Werwolf replied to rallamajoop's topic in Guilty Gear General
Still no internet, I'm stuck with countless battle against the cpu lolz BUT, I still noticed a strange thing: I miss a map (hidden village 2). Still I'm learning all the maps (at the moment the 1vs1) do you know how to unlock it? O_o Also, I'm pissed off on the cpu. I think that at maximum difficult it kinda cheat, I saw a replay and it was spawing 2 melee AND 2 armor in the same time I just sended my third melee, and waiting for some mana (and oblviously I had more ghost, since i usually carry 2 servant around at the beginning of the match). Still, I can win most of the time, but there is moments when you see coming 3 armor and 2 elites toghether in the first round and you actually rage. I just hope my endless battle against the phone company finishes soon, as I DO own xbox live lol Uh, last thing: the information on servants and minion given during loadscreens is divine: someone have that transcripted, or even better screenshot of them?
