  1. I don't disagree with you Stickbug, but I don't think anyone is trying to say anything about winning majors with low tier characters. For me, anyway, my goal isn't "win a major." If you want to say you're holding yourself back, you have to ask, "Holding yourself back from WHAT?" In which case, my objective is just to be as good at this game as I can, as a player, and be good with Hakumen. So using Hakumen or not using top tier doesn't hold me back from anything in that case. If I win a tournament or whatever as a result of getting good, then it's just a lucky bonus. Most people don't play the game with the mindset of "ALRIGHT I am going to win a major and every move I make is going to be aimed toward that goal" but of "I'm going to play this character I like and get as good as I can and see where that takes me." And I would totally be like Goku.
  2. Use it to make people afraid to autoblock low and to beat out 2A mashing and such. Alas, it did the same job in CT, but you got a combo for your effort.
  3. If I wanted to play SF I'd play SF.
  4. I'm skeptical the game will be any different. I expect people to be complaining about how CS2 is ass in a few months and how good the next installment will be. But we'll see. :P
  5. I know. *hint hint* ;p
  6. What about Hakumen?
  7. There's no reason for Haku to D through it though except to troll since he still gets magnetized.
  8. lol they keep making his combos worse and worse. Pretty soon his combos will regenerate the opponent's health.
  9. Nobody was blaming their character for their loss. <_> Nini you sound like you just found Sirlin. :P Nobody is talking about their characters holding them back, but just becoming a better player in general, regardless of what character you use. You know, the fundamentals. Just having solid basics. ie., how Tokido won with Bang without really knowing him. Someone just trying to justify their ass getting kicked by blaming your character is just a scrub. You should be able to tell the difference between that and someone who is legitimately good though and just gets owned because of an uphill battle. That doesn't mean they are going to blame others for it though. You just take it as part of your character. That also means there are some characters that have advantages over the rest of the cast, but it isn't somehow demeaning your own skill level by pointing out the power differences. Trying to pretend like it doesn't exist is not that different than trying to pretend it's all there is to it.
  10. A good player should be able to figure out his mistakes and what he was doing right. You don't need winning to simply determine that; it's not like we're flying blind here and any possible move we make could be just as good or bad as another one and the only way to tell is if we win the match when we do it. It's also pretty hard to nail down what specifically may have caused you to win since there's so much stuff going on in each round. If you want to determine who the better player is all you have to do is look at how they play. Whether they win or not is a different story. I'm sure everybody's experienced situations where someone playing dumb or braindead managed to win over you just because their character gave them the power to do that. That doesn't mean their win was illegitimate, but you can still tell from how they were playing how much of their win was from their character and how much was from their own approach. Besides, switching characters is just dodging the issue. You're not making YOURSELF better by doing that, you're just using a better character. It's possible to still improve your game doing that but that's not what is making you a better player. If anything, just switching will make it harder to determine if you're playing bad since you can get away with a lot more mistakes. If someone asks, "How do I become a better driver," you don't tell them "get a better car." I'm pretty sure if you were running red lights and almost plowing through trees with a beat up minivan that it wouldn't magically go away once you started driving a ferrari. Now if you just wanted to win races, then getting one would be a good start.
  11. He's not talking about winning more, though. He's talking about being a better player. Those are two different things.
  12. Sometimes just getting the magnetism on them is worth it though isn't it?
  13. I thought that was a real combo video
  14. Yeah I was surprised... when I saw it was Akira I was like "oh awesome" and went right to watch it since he does well against Hakumens... but then he got owned. :P I like what I see from that Haku though.
  15. Frame 1 invulnerability and 0 frames of cooldown... does that mean it could be used as a reversal?
  16. If you try to 2A and get CH that means there was enough of a gap to try and do a move but not enough for 2A to come out. So do IB > DP instead in that situation. Of course then you could get baited...
  17. what no fuck you
  18. Haku has lots of situational anti airs but no true anti airs. There are some situations where it seems you just can't do anything except not get put into that situation.
  19. Well... they're hard in lag. <_> Most of my dropped combos are because of my pad. I spend half the match fighting my opponent and the other half fighting my controller.
  20. Ah, true.
  21. They played against her in CT. Her arsenal isn't new or anything. Just more solid.
  22. It gatlings into 5C and 2C, at least.
