Hah! Marth is the same character I always used! I loved his counters, and having the mobility and range he had. Part of why I was down on Brawl is that he felt a lot more sluggish. Yeah, Hakumen has changed a bunch, but I think I actually prefer his CT incarnation better, even if he was worse. Mainly because his style has changed as well. It's become a lot more zoning oriented, and less counter and defense based. The old Hakumen was like a ticking time bomb; you'd wait for the right moment, and then when you got the right read you'd lop off half their life. I actually enjoyed having to fight an uphill battle, because it makes you have to give 100% every match and makes it so you have to outthink your opponent and iron out all your mistakes. You can't be lazy. I still like Haku though. 3D fighters tend to be a lot less demanding than 2D ones though, as you noticed. They're still fun though. Soul Calibur 2 was amazing.

Also, good to hear you got into a serious fighter. I noticed BlazBlue brought in a lot of new players. I've been playing since SF2. My favorite fighters have been SF2, Capcom VS SNK2 and now BlazBlue. Although Smash Bros is another one of my favorites, but that's not a fighting game, it's a party game.

Yeah, that's the Haku playbook. When we play I already know it's just gonna be j.C xN if we decide to try and play it out but I haven't been playing enough to put that effort in (ie., you're gonna win anyway) so I just go for random rushdown to have some fun. I've been doing that to Tager too, lool. Who did you play in Smash Bros? Basically I feel like CS so far is Brawl compared to what Melee was for CT. I was so hyped for Brawl, then I actually played it, two weeks later it was getting dust on my shelf. The fact that you randomly would trip enraged me so much.

I just goof around when we fight. :P We had mirrors in CT and I'd win those :3 I haven't put the work into adapting to CS or anything. The online play is so laggy, I can't play with any of my friends, so I don't feel motivated, and the game itself is kinda eh to me now. I'm just burnt out on it. Do you know what I mean? I like how you space though. You seem to have all the right ranges down. I also like how you're good at landing j.D. So what do you recommend for Haku vs Haku? If I was going to just go by my experience in CT I'd say zone with j.C and turtle. You definitely improved since CT; it's something I immediately noticed. Or maybe it's just that you have so much more experience with CS. Either way, good stuff.

Also, if you're trying to bait 6A to punish, make sure you use Hotaru or j.D. If you want to j.2C it, then you have to be careful. 6A is active so long and so spammable that he could probably whiff it three times while you're coming down and still hit you out of your j.2C, so you have to be precise with it or just confuse the fuck out of him. If they just wait while you fall, then you can barrier block on the way down.

"While j.C has it uses against other characters I fight, Ragna just somehow seems smart to actually RUN under it, but I guess that's just me." Yes, I was thinking of that too. Smart Ragnas I fight run under you and 6A. j.C only goes so far. Haku's old 6A was better. Removing it forces Haku to zone full screen to keep Ragna out but it doesn't do that good a job, plus it's boring and kills an aggressive Hakumen playstyle. Oh, also remember: Hotaru is jump cancelable. That means if he blocks it you can just do something else. Also you can counter after that too, so if you play your cards right it should be hard to punish. Although in practice it tends to be kind of awkward. All of these tools are situational. Best bet is to just not go head to head with 6A except when you can force it to be on your advantage.

Well, you probably heard this before, but zone him with j.C, try baiting it with double jump, or bait it with Hotaru. Like, act like you're gonna fall into it then when he tries to 6A Hotaru his ass. You need good reaction time for that or being able to predict the Ragna. Generally it's a bad idea to approach Ragna from the air in general. Also, what combos do you use for Haku when you land a hit? I noticed you weren't maximizing your damage when we played so I think you could do some work there and squeeze more out, it can make a difference when you fight Ragna. Oh, IB > counter works real well since his blockstrings tend to be pretty straightforward. If it's someone who likes to bait IB > reversal then they'll be throwing out slower moves or waiting, in which case it gives you time to 2A out instead. Are you gonna play in that 3v3? I was hype for it in CT but I just don't care anymore.

Hey Steel Coil. Just letting you know about this: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9832-XBL-3V3-Same-Character-Tourney.-Shake-off-October-Rust As one of the last XBL Hakus that takes CS seriously, you might want to play. I'd be interested in seeing how you do against everyone else.
