What about wake ups in Guilty Gear though? You have 0 control over those besides 2 characters, and that's one of the things that make GG so good. -

There is a flaw. It is that often, FRC's will be used as confirms if the move hit, or if the move puts you at a disadvantageous position, things you do not necessarily know at the beginning of the move. I think the best proposed solution to make FRC's easier is the input buffer, like in Blazblue. This basically extends the input window going in the FRC by some frames, without altering FRC functionality(without making it be cancellable earlier). -

Can't speak for everyone, but I just find Capcom games very lacking in the movement options. Everything feels so sluggish. And then you've got Marvel vs Capcom which is just too much. Guilty Gear and co. is a really good middle ground.

Of course this is way too early to pass judgement on anything. We have basically zero information on how the game will be like. It's just that after all these years, finally getting a new game, i'm just scared of it turning into another Blazblue, which was a disappointment to me because i hoped it would retain Guilty Gear's fighting system complexity with new intellectual property. With just the trailer as information, it seemed to me that they were doing everything in their power to stay true to the series, but with this blog post, i'm still hoping for the best, but it rains down on my parade a little. I just hope that my fears are unfounded. -

Well it sounds like they're going to mess with the game system to make it more accessible to casual players. This sounds to me like the complexity of the game will go down. I mean, why change something that is tried and true? Why not just build upon that? I want to play Guilty Gear, not some dumbed down game with the Guilty Gear logo slapped on it. I want to play Chess, not Checkers. -

On this topic, I'd like to point out that complexity and execution are two different things. What I think most OG GG players are afraid of is a reduction in complexity, and I'm one of them. I absolutely do not want any reduction in complexity; actually, i'm hoping for even more complexity added into the game for Xrd. That being said, the execution barrier could definitely go down, and I'm quite in favor of that. I play arguably the hardest character in the game execution-wise, I-No, and i can say that this stuff is hard, too hard. Stuff like that really needs to be toned down in execution so you don't have to spend months of practice before being able to nail it over 50% of the time. But yeah, don't touch at my complexity. What veteran players CAN do though is help the newer players get accustomed to all this complexity one step at a time so that they don't feel overwhelmed.

I'd go well beyond that and say that any fighting game nowadays NEED to have in-depth tutorials about its game mechanics; in the case of guilty gear, that's ranging from defensive moves to rc's and frc's to impossible dusts to fastfall to jump install. It all needs to be in there if people are to be pulled into the game. Arc Sys really needs to get off of this arcade game mentality, because outside of japan, it doesn't work. -

They fuggin BETTER not. This is the only thing that sets guilty gear apart, and is one of the most innovative and interesting fighting game mechanic ever made. It MAKES the game. -

I hope no one does that because that's really friggin' dumb. GG is indeed a "better game"(opinions) than BB, but the point is to get more people interested in GG, not less. A better approach even is to say to BB players that hey, look, there's this game called GG and it's awesome, you should play it too. -

I really can't see ArcSys botching this, after all this time. And by just looking at the trailer, it seems they are pulling all the stops to make it as faithful to the original material as possible. I can't be anything but pleased. -

Yeah, especially after the franchise was set FREE of Sega/Sammy's control. I HOPE this will relieve the FGC's ENNUI with the Guilty Gear series.
