You should vary where you stand. If you're always at the very end of the screen, he'll hit you w/ lightning bolt sooner or later. Fake him out, pretend you'll shoot at him, cancel aim, dash up, aim again. If he gets baited, you can shoot at his persona for a free primer. I can't find it right now, but there was a good textbook zoning vs. Kanji in a Gamechariot vid. I think it might have been Shadow vs. the world or something.

Here's a fraud tactic I think we've all seen: end the corner combo with 236b~d instead of the A version, wait for the opponent to tech in the air, and attempt airgrab. This has been working more often than it should. Speaking of which, should we have an oki/setup/shenanigans thread?

Wow, thanks for testing it out. I didn't know you could use 5c instead... That's killer! I'm much better at landing 5a 5aa or 2ab pickups after mudoon, but that 2a was a doozy.

I always play a shit ton of ranked when a game first comes out, I think it helps to grind out and see what each character does. Of course for in-depth matchup learning rooms are the way to go. Lol @ 40% win rate though, jesus I'm bad at this game... Need my Mu normals

I never asked whether it exists. Rather, I asked whether P4's system overly rewards it. In BB when a bad player mashes out it's likely he doesn't have execution to score a knockdown, or his combo will be heavily prorated. In P4, an auto combo does ~2k for most of the cast and it takes 0 execution, and that's effectively 1/4 to 1/5 of the HP bar. In BB, someone might like to mash DP but may not have the execution to actually 623x correctly. These are of no concern in P4, and that's a pretty big change for me. Oh, and I'm not that great at FCs and I do lose to stupid things all the time. It's kind of my specialty. Edit: FGs, but also FCs

I'm wondering what the top players think of P4A so far. I like the fast pace but I'm a little undecided on whether I like the auto combo and f-action. They probably don't matter at high level of play where each player is being very judicious with every move (read: no mashing), but at the low no-fucks-given level of play, the system encourages very mindless play. (is that fair to say?) Now, I ain't bitching, I love the game, but I worry a little that whenever I play randoms online I'll have to bait DPs all day forever and ever.

I'm definitely getting bodied all over the place, haha. Even just learning to zone and trying to feel the pace of the game is difficult atm, because other characters have some really derpy good normals. Yu and Mitsuru are like Ragna 2.0 D=

Anybody have a tip for fighting 9ball? The kid is unbeatable. Punishes anything and everything that 99% of PSN lets me get away with. I truly feel like a fraud after losing god knows how many matches. I have no ways around his reaction 5a/j.a. Most matches I'm cowering from the jesus kick. Frame traps work maybe 1/4 of the time and he adjusts his play so quickly that he never falls for the same thing twice. Meanwhile I'm eating every 6b and 2d, and get baited on every other DP attempts........ D: Props to him though, he's making Ragna mixups look fresh every time... I'm throwing in my towel.
