  1. Would like to attend as well... Is BB kosher? (it's the only thing I've managed to learn to play atm >.<)
  2. I don't know how, but I have trouble vs. Bang... It's supposed to be one of Noel's best match ups... What am I doing wrong? I seem to get shuriken pressured to hell and end up blocking way too much. And whenever I try to get some offense going I get shut down by his drives =/ This thread is practically empty... I guess no one has problem vs Bang?
  3. It's not even during drive, you DP when I 6B, or try to get you in a blockstring w/ jump attacks. Then of course my favorite IB my 5A and DP while I dash Then I try to bait you and you don't DP GOD DAMN IT Awww but we're like Noel buddies, it's a whole another level. Oh, and to add some Tagers to the list... Naikou, OneWingedTenshi, and Mojoplenty (just got to play him tonight) are always humbling to play against. Anyway, derail over. Here are my two cents regarding fighter mentality. (it's probably been said already) I think accepting the game as it is is pretty helpful. I used to rage pretty hard whenever I'd lose to Arakune or Nu, but now I just try my best and see what I could've done better. It's easy to blame the game, but the fact is, since we don't play at the highest level possible (that would be the Japanese arcade players), balance matters less. I think I can always improve to read opponents quicker, even if they have a favorable matchup against my char.
  4. Not to further derail the thread but I like playing: Hadoolket (Noel v Litch turtle matches =/) Ladon (fuck ID/ tsubame) Latinkid (a ragna that actually switches up mixups) Bludika (really nice hakumen, but why so angry?) Rei-scarred (I still suck vs Bang) Yaya (TK is so broken) Phagtas (Wish it wasn't laggy though) Then a few rachel players whose name I can't remember. I used to play a lot of Jins but they all disappeared. I don't think I've met a single arakune who knows how to combo =/ everyone just DIVES wooooooohoooo.
  5. Came here to watch that 9.3k combo. Can a kind arakune player explain what makes that possible? Is it the combo starter that has decent proration? I remember seeing a curse loop that was just as long (if not longer) that did less damage. Or is that some Hakumen-specific thing that I'm not noticing?
  6. Spent a good hour trying to learn this.. I managed to land it maybe 6 times.... SO HARD! Airthrow 2b 6c 22c 22c 66c 22c (66c) 22c 66c jc 236c _________________________ ^ I screw it up here 99% of the time
  7. Ok, I read through the entire thread. I can somewhat deal with Arakunes that try to combo me and stay on the ground more than 1 second at a time. I seem to have tougher time against cheesier Arakune players who do nothing but jump back, summon cloud, dive around and get crossup poke damages, spit from safe distance, and occasionally grab into DD -> curse. I don't get frustrated usually but this is easily the lamest thing ever. When I'm cursed, it's the same thing, they don't try to combo me or anything but just summon bugs all over the place and force me to block... -_- I know I know, rush the shit down, use air throws. But whenever I try to meet him in the air I get hit by the cloud or a dive. Rushing the shit down is awful, because I can't sustain any kind of pressure after 5a 5b 5c, and they simply jump back after, and the pressure is completely reset. Enough of me whining, I have some specific questions: 1. What exactly is punishable? I know his 3C is pretty unsafe on block, but otherwise, is there anything else I can punish him? More specifically, is there anything I can do to stop the dives? What are my best bets after blocking a dive? 2. How can I meet him in air better w/ jA or jB? My usual deterrents are the dives and the goddamn cloud. 3. I got him in a blockstring... How do I sustain pressure? Jump cancel from 5C usually gets me nowhere because he just jumps backward =[
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLhQSACMrTI&feature=related At 3:52 there's a 4.8k haida vs hakumen from air throw. Probably works vs. Tager too.
  9. Edited, ty
  10. Zakiyama I think was a Noel player but moved on to Hazama it seems. Dio is sticking with Carl. Shadow is playing a mean Hazama as well.
  11. Started learning the haida loop on Tager, off 3C in the corner and 214A in mid screen. It's some intense stuff. The timing is pretty much "AS FAST AS YOU CAN" and I mostly looked to DB Aikouka's vids on youtube for reference. So satisfying to land those 5k~6k loops on a poor Tager though. From what I can tell the timing on Hakumen's pretty similar, so I'll work on that next. A warning... your thumb/arm gets tired pretty fast practicing these >.<
  12. Anyone know what I should be doing when Tager puts me in his blockstring when I'm magnetized? I sit there blocking/ trying to jump away, and I swear whenever I try to poke him out I eat a CH sledge =/
  13. Noel's CA is godly for this matchup. It's a really convenient rebel ender. When a typical nu bursts, you get knocked down. She'll often throw a 5D sword on wakeup. You CA the first one, and if they follow up with the second 5D, you can dash right in and land a 6A into BnB. Though if you abuse this too much, good nu's will only throw the first 5D and command dash, etc. Use sparingly, when the nu doesn't expect it!
  14. Thanks A.J., I'll check with them. I'm willing to certainly branch out to SF4 or Tekken. Though I'm a bit overwhelmed already w/ how much there is to learn in just BB. It's so hard to find some gamers to play w/ in Boston, everyone is all about them Red Sox and Patriots... People I know play things like Guitar Hero, Madden, or FPS, none of which I enjoy.
  15. LF offline play around Boston! I'm new to the fighting game community, having mostly been a RTS/MMO player. Seeing as how there's a thread for NY and one for New England, I'm assuming there's no real scene in Boston... But doesn't hurt to ask, right? So any Beantown players?
