Gonna start running marathons, brb in 26 miles.

Anybody else really like Sakuma's playing? How the hell do I get to be that threatening at all times?
-
Sakuma has the best movement imo. I don't think H.H is sluggish either though.
-
I dunno, 5d looks a tad bit slower and so does 236a. But I could just be paranoid.
-
Yeah, I guess just playing different opponents is the only way to improve. I've been working on mixing up approaches. Some rounds I'll zone all day and go in only when it's very safe, and other rounds I'll forego stein placements for simple rushdown, etc. When I get around to it I'll record some matches and post so you can all chew me out, lol
-
Yuki tbh that's not the idea of basics I had. I was thinking more about spacing normals, working on tight footsies, and being able to take advantage of every stein to the max potential. I know a few good setups but when the opponent has patience and a good approach game you can't score hits on him without solid basics.
-
How do you guys practice basics? I've lately had this importance of basics revelations, but I'm not sure how to practice basics, aside from just playing more. When I play a match and feel that I played a "solid basics game," I was thinking more, adapting more, varying up attacks and approaches... Is this something that can be practiced in training mode?

Ah, thanks, C0R. BTW, I noticed that the Hazama board has a thread for discussing neutral/zoning. Should we maybe have a thread dedicated to such topics? Or do you think it's too matchup specific to warrant a general thread like that?
-
Can somebody teach me how habaya works, exactly? I'm trying to make sense of it reading the frame data, but is it really -7 on block? -7 on which block? Apparently the move hits 5 times, and it often feels like I'm at + instead of - (which is how we tend to use habaya to begin with, to set up steins while the opponent is blocking).

Anybody going to summer jam? I'll be going. I'm looking for temporary roommates to share the hotel room. I cook, I clean, and I've been told I'm a great lover, though these things may or may not come into play. -
I wouldn't mind having a good normal to jump in with... j.c gets beat by so many characters 2a -_- Maybe change the current j.2c to j.2a (ala hakumen) and give us a new j.2c? But honestly, that's ALL I want, mu doesn't need much imo.

Man, thanks for your work Pochp, this is great

I haven't extensively tested this one, but this is a midscreen setup I've been screwing around with. throw 5c 6c 5d j.2c 663b 5c 6c 6d j.2c j.2[d] After that I tend to improvise based on how the opponent techs, when the 6d hits, and when the j.2[d] hits. It's the only midscreen throw setup i've found so far that has j.2d sitting right on top of the opponent. Maybe someone can come up with something more concrete. throw 66a 5c 6c 6d j.2c 663b 5c (6d hits) (opponent techs) SoD. This is an air unblockable reset. I've had it work a couple times when I'm trolling. The payoff is great if the opponent tries to mash out and the SoD catches him into the corner. C'mon people I know you're hiding some seriously broken setups, let's see them.
-
I've been working on this primer break setup, it's glorious when it works. (in the corner) ~ 2b 6a 7j.c j.2c j.2[D] (Opponent techs) Meaty 2b 5c SoD RC j.]2d[ 214d -> 2b/6b or lvl 2 or 3 SoD I think this might be the most number of primers you can break in 1 setup. If you 7j.c, the j.2[d] will be placed slightly behind the opponent. It's close enough to hit when exploded. So, 1 primer from the first SoD, 2 primers from 214d, then 1~2 more if you follow up with SoD. If they forward roll or don't block the 2b after neutral tech, you can 2b 5c 2c j.2]d[ (delayed) SoD into corner combo again. The opponent can escape this setup by doing wakeup DP, ib 5c and dp the SoD, or by CA. You can bait them as needed.

CS2 noel is a strange character... While I think she now has a higher skill cap (more pressure options, things like corner TK bullet rain into combo, 6a CH 2b whiff dash 2a 6c link, etc) it's way easier to be an average noel nowadays... I remember in CT people had such a hard time with 6c bc loops... That amounted to what, 3k, 3.5k damage. In CS1 Noel was all yomi, and spring raid link (objectively speaking not difficult, but a hurdle nonetheless, separating good Noels from the average) did 4.3k... Now any Noel schmoel can 2d and get 5k with strong corner carry and 6k with fenrir. Mehhhhh. Ok, enough whining, I ate shit vs. some Noel last night. Oh yeah, someone teach me how to make my avatar bigger plz -_-
-
I'm kinda glad I switched to Mu. Whenever I hit someone with Noel's 2d I feel an immense joy and guilt at the same time... it can't be good for your mental health.

Ah, I didn't even think about the C moves for punishing 236b, durrr. I find that plat's 3c has really good range so unless her spacing was extremely terrible 5b and 6a just won't reach. If her 3c was spaced correctly, even mu's 2b won't reach. So how do you deal with her items? For now my strat is to zone her the best I can (and of course mix in bursts of offense as seem fit) when she has Frying pan, Hammer, or Cat mace, and rush her when she has Bombs or Missiles. When it goes bad is when I underestimate her normals and the long airdash... Or if I get too predictable with my pokes and she somehow 236b me =[
-
Let's get this discussion started... Obvious things first. It seems like at certain ranges plat's 236b (heart car) will hop over habaya and 5c. Risky Plat players (read: 95% of netplayers) will throw them out without 50 meter to RC. It's obviously very unsafe on block, and Mu's 6a will CH her after block. Her normals seem very safe, and her range rivals Mu's. Her 3c is -8 on block, if you IB at close range you can punish with 2b. If she cancels into 236b though, you eat a CH into stupid amounts of damage. In my experience so far Plat's not as easy to zone as say, Ragna, because her missiles counter habaya very well. She has the option of spamming missiles or carefully approaching with a cat mace and get in once you're knocked down.

Wow, thank you DT, that explains so well what I've been working on but hadn't really bothered to conceptualize.

I'd like to attend. Don't have a car though. -
izayoi matoi is too good... Fully abuses everything that is good about CS2 Tao to perfection.

Could not make it to AB thanks to my shitty job... Sigh. I'd like to second Danny and call for a BBCS2 release party.
