  1. It's not, everyone already knows Bang's 5B is vital. You can pick that up in any video. I'm mentioning the tools that people look over, but are still extremely important and can change the flow of a match by being present. If a bang is only using 5A, 2A, 5B, 2B, I can outpoke him in my sleep with the top tier in this iteration, in terms of risk reward. So he can't contest it. But with 3C, he can. I'm saying even if you use 5B at neutral 7 times as often as 3C, if you NEVER use 3C, your grounded footsies are much weaker, because the threat of 3C isn't there to supplement it.
  2. But Zeth certainly did, that's what I'm saying. Or, if not "aren't useful at all", implied the way I suggested them was a terrible suggestion. It's not, new players need to learn about reads early.
  3. What, you think I don't understand these options either? I'm not encouraging gimmicky play, I'm encouraging reads. Tired of people trying to play entirely on reaction, no top player ever does that. These choices aren't gimmicky, they're call outs. They DO work, and top Japanese players do use them. TK Supercrash can definitely be used for footsies, the reward is high and the hitbox is very potent, and certain characters can't punish very hard at all. 3C is similar, low profiles most pokes and on CH is massive reward. This tool is crucial for Bang to win grounded footsies, because it's the only one he has that wins against certain characters like Makoto at max range, where she can confirm full combo and Bang can't if it's a 5B or 2B poke. 6C is of course a very, very hard read, but yes it does work, and it converts into massive damage. I used this to great success at NWM, when people attempted to jump out of the corner. Why are these choices bad to present to a new player? Do you want him to grow as a player thinking these options are somehow taboo? These are options, not using a character's options is ludicrous, if they do work. And they do. Zeth, it's the implications of what you say. "Come on man you can't really say you would be throwing 6C as an anti air" is very demeaning of what I had just said. "How often do you see other JP Bangs do it?" also implies I have no idea what I'm talking about. It's really annoying. I've worked hard to develop my ability in this game and think long and hard about what works and why, so when I say that these tools CAN be used, not even that they should be used frequently, and it's met with a 4 paragraph post for why not, It's frustrating.
  4. I'm not sure if you're trolling or serious, but this post really looks bad on you. Also I have to mention I really don't like your tone either. If I was star, I'd probably get mad too. But I still went out of my way to defend what you said, and you still find the nuts to critique everything I said. Well honestly I don't care what you think about what I said, if I did I'd probably have asked you for advice. You can save it next time. Nothing I said is outlandish, and you can find video of strong bang players (Most importantly Dora, who was top 4 SBO) using all of them. People like you make no one ever want to use forums. Fear of you responding to things I say and having to have some annoying fruitless conversation over it is like a dark spot on the Bang forums that will never go away. I appreciate all you did for the video thread, but for the love of god brighten up and stop talking down to everyone.
  5. Well.. yes, me and Dora have fun, but we also beat a lot of extremely strong players. When I play in tournament, I have fun while playing to win. I don't do those weird things to have fun, I do them to win. I have no difficulty believing it's the same for Dora. Also, I don't think Zeth had any ill will, he just wants to cut out the middle ground and tell you quick ways to improve. He's 100% right, by the way, I don't agree that you understand your own choices either, just by the way you talk about the game. Don't take it the wrong way, he doesn't mean anything bad by it. (Even if he's typically the grumpy type ^_^)
  6. Nothing about bang mirrors makes any sense
  7. You say "I have a lot of.. Dora and Dacidbro in my diet", which I'm guessing means something like you play too gimmicky without understanding your options. The first thing to understand is (And Dora is better at this than me) the weird options I use aren't weird in application. They're sometimes somewhat gimmicky, but every time I use an option there are a number of very specific outcomes I'm looking for, to test my opponent. For example, one of the first things I'll do with my opponent is see if they actually understand 6D. If I press 6D on wakeup 5 times in a row, and the outcomes are: GuardPointed, successful hit GuardPointed, successful hit Grabbed Guardpointed, hit out anyway Guardpointed, successful hit Those odds are probably in my favor to just keep throwing it, honestly, because Bang's 6D is such high reward. This player has given me no reason to stop mashing on 6D, and is essentially giving me a free win. But if it looks like this: Guardpointed, successful hit Overhead counterhit me Guardpointed, then grabbed Grabbed Overhead counterhit me Obviously I'm getting blown up for it, and I need to stop using that option right away. BUT, because I have conditioned them to beat 6D, other options are more available. Backdash is likely to be more effective, because the odds of them using a move with quick recovery is less likely (Although jab mash is a decently effective way to beat 6D too, and that would beat backdash with a slight callout). Reversal Ashura is much more likely to land now, because it beats grabs and overheads. Even 5D could likely be used on reaction to a poorly meatied overhead. Basically, if you watch someone play in a way that looks really high risk, you need to look deeper into the match. Discover the reasons these hits land for these players, but don't for you. (And the 5 wakeup 6D's is mostly a reference, I wouldn't recommend that very often) The other piece of advice I would give is to understand every move's place. 3C is a strong footsies tool with good reads. 6C is your highest reward read based anti air. TK Double Palm is strong mid screen footsies with high reward on CH. Etc, etc
  8. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah willy :]
  9. I guess I don't really understand why a just released game with lots of support would be side either
  10. STA is arcade, GC is PS3 Hope to see you there sometime
  11. Norcal now has CSE, at Southtown arcade Hit it up! I'm a bit busy for now, but I'll definitely be putting in time either there or at Gamecenter when Myung gets his copy in a little bit
  12. Was great to meet the most talented internet-debate Tager at NWM. I was honored, Osuna
  13. Polka just remember Madison is a fraud, James is the real deal.
  14. There is no way to stop the 6D mash. Succumb to it's impossible priority. There are none capable of dethroning it.
  15. This shit was incredible and I exposed frauds a lot and then didn't anymore James Xie is a warrior Litchi players suck Huey will never beat me at smash bros in a 2/3 set I'm coming for Bobby's blood in CSE Okay but seriously, this was one of the most amazing tournaments I've gone to. I had a ton of fun the whole time, and every single person I hung out with added to the hype. Thanks so much everyone, and everyone in PNW for housing, putting up with and taking care of Norcal for the whole weekend. Love you guys, see you some soon tournament I hope.
  16. Was fun losing to Tokido, he's improved drastically. Still uses a stupid character though.
  17. I think of games and netcode similar to magnets. Opposites attract. GEV will likely be great, and have a garbage netcode.
  18. GameCenter is getting GEV on release too.. Shit's about to get real serious around the Bang boards.
  19. Over-generalized, I'm going and convinced friends to too
  20. I'm all up in here. Gotta win that Catherine and donate to BB
  21. It means if you're trying to get paid to do your job you need metal tools. Plastic engineers are for charity.
  22. Engineer works with entirely plastic toolbox Such sad irony ~Haiku about low tier heroes
  23. Ah, I've played, it, yes. That night. I got about 4 rounds of warm up off stream on a training dummy, and everything just kind of worked exactly how I expected. What did you want to know? Oh, you said PW. Meaning Phoenix Wright. All I know is he's "allegedly" a stance based evidence collecting character. Which kind of makes no sense at all and also kind of sounds like Bang. I dunno, I'm excited.
