Not when the 6C jD whiffs, on the non-dash 5A starter
-
Zeth, 6C jD whiffs on Carl on Valkenhayn, and whiffs Rachel from a non-dash 5A starter. Do you have any ideas of what combo to replace it? I can't find a way to get 3+, I think ... 6C jc jD 2B 5D etc gets me 2 though. Just to re-state the problem, without jump cancelling to jD, it whiffs after 6C on Carl/Valk and sometimes Rachel, which removes the option of web nail.

If I can ask too, in what ways does Dora's bang instill the fear of God that mine doesn't? Specific moves or general strengths, if you can. Asking because I know Dora is way, way better than me, and I haven't had the privilege to play him to compare on my own.

Fantastic guide, fantastically written and a fantastic reminder for me to learn a god damn FRKZ confirm Thank you very much kaeru

Ah, thanks. Should I just skip this thread altogether in the future, if I'm not sure?

That's too nearsighted. Surely creating the correct boundaries is important for every good sport? And if the creators made a game with the potential to be something fantastic, but also gave options for it to be much more casual, you would remove those random factors that are limiting the game. Think about sports. There are limitations on what you can use in those sports, because it makes for a more complete, rounded game. The specifications are so that it can be a complete game. Melee wouldn't be so good if there was a bunch of random spawning items in tournament matches, because it removes an amount of the legitimacy. Right place right time can win you the match, by blind luck. These limitations on the rules is vital to the game to ensure highest skill is the winner. EDIT: Also, the amount of limitations necessary to make BRAWL a legitimate game is over the top, because it was designed badly. So if you only meant Brawl, I agree.

This is confirmed? I know there was talk about changing the date

Do we have a confirmed date yet? I figure it's getting close

Blazblue is the wrong fighter if you are aiming for speed. However, because of BB's slow speed, reaction time on defense is always relevant. If you like that, play Blazblue. If you want to see shit blow up quick, and people flying faster than the speed of light, you should play Marvel.

Bang in CSE is considered top5ish, much better than Noel. Also more manly, if you were a Captain Falcon main like I was. But yeah, I came from Smash. It's not a bad transition, even if you played the scrubs version of Smash like I did. If you're coming from Melee I think it's an even easier transition.

Bang doesn't lose that matchup much, but he's the one who has to make unique choices. Valkenhayn gets to autopilot really hard. -

So I play Huey at SCR I beat his Bang He counterpicks into a matchup I play all the time and mashes high reward moves that put Bang into awkward places and wins want to kill myself -
Scott, did you have anything to say for not running CSE? I don't understand the complaint. My vote is of course infinitely towards running the relevant game, since Myung and STA both put their faith in importing the game.
-
Is there seriously any reason not to run E? Myung is paying the money to import it, and anyone else can too if they're serious about Blazblue. I'm tired of being so many months behind Japan, and would like to be able to practice the relevant version, as long as it is available. Since that is the case, I see absolutely no reason (If Norcal cares about being the best Blazblue players, someday) not to use the new version. Also, thanks everyone for coming out. Great GF, Jared. Lets tear up Socal together! Thanks everyone for Catherine too, I had fun. Next time, Chun ^_^

Learning startup, static difference (and understanding static difference), and what chains to what are all absolutely vital. Star, make sure you read what I posted in your stream's chat. You have a looooong road ahead of you. -

Eh, that's good advice, LK. I stand by everything I've said, though, even that it is important to tell it to beginners. I can understand why people don't, but I know it would just frustrate me if I asked for help and an abridged version was given. I would think people don't expect me to take the advice seriously enough to research why it is effective. Dai, checked through grand finals against DSMoove at NWM, used it once at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD4gXff7AaI#t=3m50s to beat airdash or jD, and lose for very low damage to jA jB or jC, or whiff for low punish, since he super jumped Editted to fix time sig, was taking to the start before, now takes directly to the 6C -

6C AA is decently rare even for me, but when I do use it it's in the corner. I don't have any vid on hand off the top of my head. I usually use it against characters that have bad reward as they're falling or rising, if I know the player likes to chicken block. Huey, if Zeth already covered those tools, what am I doing by repeating them? Nothing. Those tools are what everyone will always tell you. It's so easy to find that those are good tools. What about the moves no one ever talks about? -

What do you think? Tell a new player every tool, or just the most common? -

Well if he's not going to learn why people should not use 3C, even if just by trial and error, how serious is he? If I use a move and get punched in the face for it, I learn where not to use it much better than someone telling me why I shouldn't use it. -

I know if someone tries to tell me how to play a game, and literally removes my options because they don't think I can take it in, I get very mad when I lose because I didn't know that option existed. I don't want to give this guy a dull blade, I'll make it sharp and if he cuts himself so be it. A dull blade is more dangerous to a professional, because it doesn't WORK. Lets give our new players a fair start. -

I'd rather not give stale advice, or advice that could be so easily learned. You can watch literally any bang and know 5B is important, but you might not understand the underlying threat of 3C. I give people different advice, so they can try it themselves. Find out why it's good AND why it's bad, people need to mash on some shit and lose some matches. That's a real lesson in risk reward. You need to understand every tool available, not just the ones you'll use every round or every other round. Why do I have to tell someone something they can already find in a thousand different places plain as day anyway? I focus on what's hard. -

If it's that important to his footsies though, surely that's worth mentioning? If this is the only thing that can make certain characters respect Bang's grounded pokes, it must be important? And strong? I didn't say it that well, but the words I used were all correct.
