Terrzyl Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Blazblue was one of the first fighting games I ever played and when I did my friend who introduced me to it said "Don't play as Carl. He has a crazy learning curve for beginners." So naturally I played nothing but Carl for over 6 months and couldn't play any other characters. I'm still weirded out by characters who run.
Yohosie Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Tager because he's a fucking man. And I'm a sucker for good voice acting
TheGreatLeon19 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I tend to like characters with interesting meter gimmicks, like Robo-Ky in GG or Tsubaki in BB (I tried Haku It never really stuck) but I started out with Bang and he's still my favorite. I mean listen to him. Really the method I suggest is screwing around in Training for a bit with each character and then trying an Arcade run with everyone until you've found one you think'll stick. Of course this can be tedious so go for the ones you think you'll like first, and if it doesn't stick, oh well on to the next one.
StylisH Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Mostly by level of technical difficulty/learning curve (Dizzy is the exception). Â l always figured, high execution, high reward. Â That and character personality (which is why I don't use Carl or Eddie....) Â P.S. Strong okizeme plays a MAJOR part as well. Â What use is getting a knockdown if you can't take advantage? (And a nice percentage of their life bar)
wiredgod Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I wanted a character that would force me to improve my inputs and blocking, hence Carl. Â Plus I find his offense really satisfying to watch when its working well.
Schizomanic Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Hakumen, since CT, when I was a young boy fascinated with grorious nippon swords and faceless dispensaries of justice. Also I liked doing mad damage, and with all of my friends playing Ragna, I wanted to be a unique little snowflake. I stuck with him through thick and thin, though my interests waned during CS2/EX, traveling from Bang to Hazama to Valk to Relius. I've finally just dropped him completely in CP. He's a far cry from the Hakumen I fell in love with, and my tastes have changed. That aside, as soon as Azrael was revealed, I just knew what I had to do.  I had that same thought when Kagura was revealed, but I can't play Kagura for shit. I wasn't actually all that interested in Terumi when he was revealed, but after seeing him in action, he's become one of my most anticipated characters.
SoulGuitarist Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Anytime a new fighter comes out, I play around with the entire cast and see who I'm comfy with. Though, like others said, be sure to try challenge mode for some characters and see who feels right to you then when you get comfortable and have the basics to that character, head into training mode and come up with some combo ideas or learn combos from videos. NettoSaito Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 For me, well... BlazBlue CT had just came out, I saw some pics of it on Xbox.com, and I saw a friend of mine talking about it. After that, I went back to look up more information about the game, saw Jin, and instantly said "THAT'S MY MAIN!" I don't know why, but I just liked JIn's character design lol, and when I got the game, I found him and Noel to suit me best. Not sure if its because I WANTED to play as Jin or what, but I picked him up pretty fast. Not that I'm a pro or anything, but I can hold my own.
heavymetalmixer Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I love speedy characters that aren't too hard to use, that's it. Every time I'm interested in a new game or iteration my first and second questions are: Who's the fastest character in the game? How hard to play is him/her?
SinnTek1 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 So I originally started on BBCT with Ragna because he was simple enough to use and I did not have to differ my playstyle too much from Ky-Kiske and Ken.  Then I stopped playing BB for a while and went back to BBCP and absolutely hated Ragna. Suddenly, I didn't have a main... So I have been playing the entire cast and doing their challenges, trying them online, losing VERY often, and then I landed on Azrael.  My winning ratio has gone up significantly and his combo style reminds me of a few other fighting game characters I have used. Now I am in the transitional phase of not being a scrub.
thiz Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I had to move back and forth to find what I wanted. Only screwed around in CT, then wanted to go for Tsubaki in CS but I didn't like her playstyle that much. Back to trying things, I ended at Lambda, fell in love with her quickly and then she became my Queen <3. Then they removed her in CP, so I was looking at all the characters again. Tried Bullet and Hakumen but they didn't feel right in the end, so right now I am just fooling around with Nu until Queen Lambda returns in CP2.
JyakotuKurayami Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 When I transferred to my current university, I found a group of people who played various video games. One of the games I got introduced to was BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma. Now, these people were already friends since freshman year and many of the people who played primarily fighting games have played BB since the CT days. So when I first played, they advised that I play with characters like Noel or Jin because they were made for beginners. However, I remember someone saying that nobody plays Carl. Thus, me being the person I am, I picked up Carl Clover and stuck with him ever since. Granted, I'm not really GOOD with Carl, but I'm decent enough to hold my own in a match. Plus, I like the love the character has for his sister, because it reminds me of the love I have for my sister. That, and we both don't have the best relationship with our fathers. Lol
TralfamadoreCall Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I picked Tsubaki as my main. I like the whole concept of the character and the living weapon she wields. Plus he moves and such just seemed to click with me better than others as I was going through all the characters in CP to see which one I liked. Â I really want to check out Carl too at some point.
Tronotron Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 That and love phantom and float glitch. Â The love phantom video has been edited to extend the loop... you can see it by watching Tager's health bar.... how lame.
Spellbound Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 There's many factors for me, but i mostly play characters i like. BBCP- Amane; because hes a crossdresser and his design. Kokonoe; She's just an awesome character and its nice to win XD P4A; Naoto; She just amazing. Definitely a waifu GG; I-no; Love her design, she's a rocker with a cool hat. Bridget; Crossdresser <3 Uniel: Eltnum; just like her design, really cool character Skullgirls: Parasoul; Great design, like her personality and moveset. Egrets for the win XD
AvatarofWhat Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 In CT I was able to get into nu because I was a total noob and the easiest combo to pull off for me was anti-air 2c into jc>j2c>jc>j2c>j214d since its very forgiving on timing. I wanted to main ragna, but after I started to get better and able to get his combos down I noticed I really like zoning with nu. Of course she was extremelly powerful back then so that helped. However I stuck with lambda in CS and am back maining nu in CP because I really have come to like her style, and as shes gotten worse, ive gotten a bit better.
gEasS_53 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 saw azrael had a kamina colorway. mained azrael when cp came out. Exactly the same. Love the fact that his Astral is even a bit like Giga Drill Breaker :P
Narroo Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I like Amane. His drills are fun. It's nice to not have to have to mix people up.
StylisH Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I like Amane. His drills are fun. It's nice to not have to have to mix people up.  And 6k off of drill chip damage is also fun I hear
MasterXDrake Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I decided to main Kagura because I love his design and personality. I wasn't a big fan of his playstyle at first but I really like it now.Â
Liminal18 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I'll jump on the CP band wagon: I love Kokopuff's design, but Amane looked the most interesting to play and well close to 100 ranked games later I am still working on Amane. She's interesting and full of possibilities and the immediate rewards are easier to understand than Kokonoe's abstractions. On the other hand I might go Kokopuffs today just for a change. Amane remains my main. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Zouf Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 You do know that Amane is a guy right? *Shocking truth*
Angel-tastic Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'm pretty sure I main Izayoi because she looks like a boss when Shimotsuki plays her. Before that I played Nu/Lambda because her style is so different from typical FG characters that I wanted to give her a try.
