I swap mains and subs on a dime. The one I've stuck with for the longest has been Tager, and he's the only one I can constantly go back to. Only reason I even tried to use him was because I was getting sick of getting beaten by other Tager players, and I wanted to find out how to deal with him.

I'll definitely be using the crap out of Terumi in BBCP, just because I love his design so much. I'm also planning on learning Azrael, just because his j.D looks and sounds incredibly satisfying. (I don't know why it's that move in particular, I just love that move.)

I like characters that gives off high amounts of "fear factor". Basically oppressive characters that deter you from doing basic things just because of what they could do.

Relius used to be the only one like this. So I mained him, though with Kagura and Azrael now in the game who are also like that, I'm still a bit undecided.

I chose Mu-12 because I mained Noel in CT and mostly because I like characters who are crazy, but I guess now she's just Noel in CP regardless. As for the reason I mained Elizabeth in P4A.. Her personality.

I mained Hazama because of his swag (no joke).

But when CP was revealed I started trying to learn Jin because the new Jin looks really nice.

But then Kagura showed up and was like "I'm everything you ever wanted in a fighting game. In your FAVORITE fighting game."

Everything from this guy, from his Attacks to his friggin name of all things just speaks "Main me bro."

But alas I have no PS3 so Imma wait til Christmas and use Jin until then.

Midnight-Zephyr, I'm right there with you on Kagura--I was undecided on switching mains in CP(even though I switch mains any time someone looks at me funny), but the Kagura showed up and I immediately said "yes, that man is now my main".

Having imported BBCP(first time ever importing, woo!), I've been surprised to find that I quite enjoy Azrael as well, so I'll be practicing with him more too.

More in general, my basic criteria for picking a main are twofold: a) I have to like their look, their animations, their quotes... everything immaterial in gameplay about them has to be 'cool' to me... and b) I have to be able to not suck with with in actual play. :P

I know, right? Especially the last thing you said. But Im confident I can main Kagura because for as sucky as I am in fighting games, I can actually learn charge characters rather easily. But that being said, I think Kagura's gonna be my permanent main and Jin's the eternal sub.

(Remember: You gotta stick with one before you can get any good at the game.)

Played Tao in CSE and loved her to death. Then finding out her 6A doesn't have float anymore made me a bit nervous since I was much better with Tao in the air than on the ground, so I picked up Terumi and I haven't looked back. Taos still a sub but she just doesn't feel the same at least to me. Picking a main is just whoever I feel comfortable with play style wise and mobility wise, everything else will come later.

Never really clicked with anyone in CSE, Plat caught my eye (lolis o3o!) but I didn't decide to main her until I got into Magical Girls a lot more (thank you Madoka Magica)

As for P4A, Kanji was the only character I was able to win with, then I just started picking up more things as him and one thing lead to another... and boom

I started taking Blazblue seriously late into Extends life cycle. I dabbled with just about every character except one. Valkenhayn. I never wanted to play as some wrinkly old man! This ignorance continued until I tried his challenge mode and learned his super basic 5K corner combos. More and more, I practiced with the old fart. I just felt like I was in control every time I used him. Fast forward almost a year and a half, and I'm a full fledged Valk main. He is really hard to use, yet rewarding. On top of that, he is seldom used so people get excited to watch me play, and just about all his combos are super swag :)

I seem to be drawn to ninja types. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because I picked up Bang when I first started playing BB in CS2 and never looked back. Maybe it because of their mobility. One thing I know is that I LOVE TELEPORTS! They're so cool! I also main Valentine in Skullgirls because 1. Ninjas 2. Busty nurses, and 3. Command throws! Bust mostly number 2. 36E FTW

If I had to say I didn't play Makoto for underboob maybe I'd say I main her because her drive is sick. It's like, not even a real drive. It doesn't really dictate a play style, just the feel of the character. Her drive is just punching super hard, so hard that it glues your opponent's body to the corner. So hard that it sends people to the moon. I especially love that her overdrive bounces people around harder than ever.

Also, I love catching air dashes with BBS. It's only about 2k damage raw, but there's so much tension in that hour long screen freeze for my opponent before knowing if they're getting nailed or not.

CT: Ragna, Carl

CS: Tsubaki

CP: Azrael

Tsubaki was my first real main, I only played Calamity Trigger for about 6 months before buying CS. Azrael was the character that really got me hyped for CP, and due to Tsubaki changing RADICALLY between Extend and CP, I decided to drop her. I'm thinking about subbing Relius or Kagura :^

These reasons you have given for liking makoto are more or less identical to my reasons for liking that character. Cool.

I've basically mained tager and arakune since BBCT. Just loved how different and weird arakune was and how brutal/frightening tager could be. When I started to get more proficient at the game I picked up Ragna as a sub around the time of CS. Since I liked his super aggressive rushdown style and the dark effects of his attacks. Basically for choosing a main I would recommend just picking a character you like the look of and see if their style meshes with what you like or think you can do. Watch pros play the character, practice with the character yourself, and look into their lore to see if it motivates you to try harder to learn the character.

I started late as hell with BB:CSEX towards the end of August. My first main, Arakune.

I chose him, and chose to play BlazBlue in general after watching a tournament at a friend's house....

The Arakune player was almost KO'd when suddenly the announcer yelled "He has full curse, it's not over yet!" and the Arakune came back to win it. I thought that was the craziest shit ever.

In September, in preparation for CP I decided to use Ragna to learn a more straight-forward style I could apply to other characters. Due to lack of dedication ***Counter-Strike addiction*** I just hop on as Ragna w/ Arakune as my sub these days. I plan on committing to Azrael or Kagura soon though.

Eh, I messed around with everybody until I found a character I had a decent amount of natural talent with.

That's how I started maining Relius.

I played Dizzy in GG. When they announced BB, I looked over the characters and couldn't see any that really jumped out at me. I was going to skip the game for the most part until they announced Nu and Hakumen. I immediately fell in love with the design and gameplay of Nu, picked up the game on release, and haven't looked back.

in ct i hit randum at first character select and got nu.

wow easy game easy life i could do whatever I wanted and it was GREAT

so i played lambda

not lambda is gone and nu is some sort of magical contraption I cannot comprehend so I'm sitting here with bullet and plat and jin and I have no idea what I'm doing

so I don't think I actually picked a main

Amane's theme. How he skips, him walking back just fabulous.

I love men who are. Last but not least, His legs when he dies no matter what its a win-win
