DaiAndOh Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Well I played about 3 dittos oddly enough online today, and looking at the matchup forum...we don't have this....as much as it pains me to hurt other Bang players, the ditto matchup should be discussed and explored. Perhaps my pressure is flawed, but I've had my jabs autoguarded after a 2369D reset, viable?
Elstraim Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I don't mean any offense, but...how could this thread work exactly? I mean, any strategies and stuff discussed would ultimately boil down to "Play better than the other Bang". =/
Reioumu Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Well character specific combos would go here. Though a common thing I see in Bang dittos that I do. I'll wait for the other bang to use a drive so I can auto guard their drive with my drive. And a lot of times, if you're above them in the air you'll probably want to jC them since they can't do anything about it except blocking or jD which you can wait for. Like if you superjump then dash and they just normal jump. Though really. Bang dittos just boil down to who has the better oki.
JinSaotome Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 j.C is 2D bait it works on the crossup normal too grab/command grab if they get saucy with guard points 2369D may also be 2D bait, I'm not positive though. Double bang install for the win.
Reioumu Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Yeah, the rule is, if it's a Bang ditto. FRKZ is necessary.

Well the problem with any strategy is that it pretty much counters itself. So if you say "Bang likes to do X move a lot so bait it with Y," you are also implicitly saying "When Bang does Y move he is probably trying to bait X, so you should use Z instead." If you're just talking about what to do on reaction to specific moves, though, that's a different story.

Honestly, Bang vs Bang is pretty obvious. It's the smarter player wins and it usually boils down to the oki to keep that pressure going.
Browncoat3 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just get both of you to use Furinkazan and make sure your volume is on max.
KowtowRobinson Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Bang does blockstring ending in 2b, cross up j.C, what does Bang have to beat this out consistently? So far I've got backdash and.......nothing. 2D is getting beat, is this just a timing thing, or does it not guard a j.C from behind?

KowtowRobinson Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Yeah I was able to do that a few times, but I'm looking for something that I can do reacting to it normally, without gambling on it and eating D nails or something.
faultydefense Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 watch for bang's 2B, if it doesn't go directly into 2C or 2369D odds are you can jump out with a barrier (or hell against bang you dont even have to barrier generally)...this is the secret to playing against bang with any character... and its bullshit watch for airthrows when the bang player realizes he cant keep you still anymore and you're golden but what will you do in return if he catches on to your tactics for his own defense!

At this point when neither you nor the other Bang player have no gimmicks left it's best to just spam D nails.
KowtowRobinson Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 but what will you do in return if he catches on to your tactics for his own defense! If that was the case, I wouldn't be upset about it lol. But whatever, it's a new style of fighting game for me so it'll be a learning process. It's just hard for me to stay calm enough to think that way sometimes lol.
Reioumu Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 This matchup is easy... Just fight the person in real life. Bang mirror matches require both players to dress up as Bang (of course in their color) and duke it out. There's no way an epic match can amount to a mere television screen.
faultydefense Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 i did until bang showed me the light, now i just play half the cast

If only all of life's problems were this simple, lol. Anyway I see now what you guys mean about jumping our and barrier guarding. Friend of mine who plays Jin in NYC was doing that, helped me get used to countering that when other people do it to me. Now I just need to do it to other Bangs. Any of you guys play on XBL? I'm lookin to start playing more experienced players.
Dixteel Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I actually really like Bang Vs. Bang match up. Not only because the epicness meter is off the chart, but some of the 2 Bang actions I saw when playing against other Bangs are quite amusing.
Darcius Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 According to Dora, Bang vs Bang is 7-3 in his advantage.
Reioumu Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 According to Dora, Bang vs Bang is 7-3 in his advantage. Old news my fellow bringer of justice.
Lord Cruxis Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 This is a tough fight for me, if the other player is my level or higher in being capable of using Bang. Oi.
rei-Scarred Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hey, I encountered a glitch in a bang v bang fight yesterday and I wish I could upload the replay but I have no means to. Anyway, for some reason I ran in for 5A to command throw, but he countered my 5A with 5D teleported behind me. Bang took the attack with his invincibility frames and then the other bang fucking TELEPORTED into my hand from behind me. extreme and possibly useful

I had him in the air and did an air cmd throw... Somehow he teleported into my hands even though he was behind me.
