Squash out bad habits young, breeds better players. Online wont do this. Nu vs Carl is about baiting and punishing the rolls for 4k dmg. And I wouldn't be afraid of getting np in this match since your likely to be bursting when you get hit anyways. Also, PSN Carl represent! (seldom actual carl play time online) + Lives in Aust YES, FINALLY!!!! XD Okay, I don't know what your ID is so I guessed (same with Zeero).

I raged a little inside. Lmfao, I wonder why it gave you mine and me yours. I was waaaaaaaaaaaay confused. Umm... some tips for ground loop: 1) 6d has more hitstun than you think it does. The way I think of timing it is halfway through whatever ground move is ending my string, I start 6d up. Wait before you start the ground combo up again. Also, the rhythm for the 2nd most damaging ground loop (j.c, 5b, 5c, 6d)*n is similar to the faster "Fah who for-aze!/dah dores" parts from "Welcome Christmas" Not even joking. Learn the timing for that one, and all the others become REALLY easy. Just have Nirvana attack earlier, and continue the combo with Carl a little later. 2) An input trick I use is right after I press 5c, I move the stick forward and release D. If you've ever worked with a guitar, it's kinda like doing a hammer on/pull off. Also, learn this combo: Nirvana-Carl-Opp ...5a,5b,6b,6d+vivace, 2a>ground/throw loops. Prorates like hell, but it sandwiches them, drops pretty quickly, leads into loops/crazy resets. It wasn't boring, I was worried about you getting frustrated/annoyed though. Also, after playing Nu vs Carl for the first time, all I can say is wow... It's really hard to pin the little brat down. Eh, depends on your connection, and how you're willing to play. It's a GREAT tool for seeing new tricks and teaching beginners. For gauging skill, tho, it's no good. I still go for all the super-technical stuff and don't change my timing to compensate for lag, so I drop a fair deal of combos, but it doesn't really effect my non-online play. It's also great for learning to play calm. If you can cool yourself down after eating 4k from a Ragna overhead that you KNOW you blocked, then you're pretty much set. Bonus points for remaining calm after you bait a Rachel into doing something stupid, only to not block and eat 6k damage+corner lockdown. HAHA, if you took a look at my win ratio you would know that I don't have a problem getting beat over and over again. It was really great to see another good Carl player in an actual match. I think I use Vivace a bit too much when I fight Nu's but most of the time it gets me in. I watched some videos of DIO vs. a Nu player and he was jumping in a lot. Gonna work on those combos today, hopefully I get some results. Once again, great matches, it was fun! Edit: Just going to add that I live in west Texas (El Paso specifically) for anyone that wants to play.

4Corners Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Weird, I thought I already posted about it. My ride arrived, and I kinda had to book it. GGs, nice to fight a Carl that can stomp me. Using 5c and 5b as kinda AAs is tiiiiiight. Only thing I can think of is to watch your jumping habits, but I only caught you like... once a match for them, so they aren't even that bad. You use Vivb a good chunk, but I dunno if that's good or bad, really. Good stuff, and lotsa fun. Playing Zoogs made me realize something, though. If you decide to do the throwbreak>summon trick, you HAVE to get it right the first time, or you'll die by reset the next time. 4k+7k=dead Carl. =( So yeah, learn the throw loop vs Carl and use it, guize. I ~think~ that if you get looped early, you should break, summon, break, activate to get out the first time, and then burst the second time he touches you, or use it for gold burst death combos.
Zoogstin Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 No prob man. Thanks for the advice. I do use 236B alot, it saves me a lot but I do screw myself over with it sometimes as well. I try to anticipate when you're gonna attack but you don't. Then when I 236B you see it and punish accordingly -_- As for you using Airdash j2c kara cancels pretty well. But a little too often. A lot of times you would get me, but other times I as able to successfully bait them. I wouldn't do it so much when I'm right near Nirvana. Sometimes you would get me, but other times I was able to hit you first and you were then conveniently between and Nirvana. Hope to play you soon.
