So, who's the best zoner/trap character in this game?

Well, anyone can be a zoner coupled with the right Arcana. lol

Strictly character speaking though, there are quite a few characters that are heavy zoners. It's hard to say which is the best zoner, but Scharlachrot seems to be a growing favorite. Here's a general list of character classes I made on SRK:

It definitely helps but...nyeh, I'm seriously trying to avoid using Schar...though she does look like a character I'd like.

The mizuumi wiki actually suggests Catherine as a good zoner/trap character, especially combined with the wind Arcana. Does this sound right? If she's truly just a heavy hitter though I'l probably avoid her. I never liked heavy characters.

The other character I'm looking at is Petra...she looks interesting.

Yes, the Mizuumi wiki is correct. The Wind Arcana can work well with basically anyone in the game. It work exceptionally well for Catherine though because she has such a big hitbox. Wind allows her to avoid hits a lot easier. It also gives better combos with Wind's 2D move.

Like I said before anyone can be a pretty good zoner but Cathy doesn't really need an Arcana to zone. Her moves already allow for that.

-623A/B/C fires a missile at different angles depending on the buttons pressed. 623C(downward arc) is great for oki and blockstun

- 22A+B sends out Chibigawa which slowly walks to the opponent. Amazing for oki and keep away. The opponent also doesn't have to be that close for it to explode in their face. lol

-Cathy's command moves 6C/3C fire ball barrings foward while standing or forward while Cathy is crouching. They can easily put the opponent in lockdown. Counter hits with this allow for a second ball to hit the opponent for free.

Petra is very nice in this game. She got so much better from AH2. The system in AH3 works well for her because of it's meter refill. This allows her not to always be scrambling to recharge her ether cartridges 1 by 1 and just use the super ether recharge(22A+B) which fills all 3 ether catridges at once. Her new move L.G.A Assualt also adds a lot to her game.
