Round 1 when Rachel got jin into a corner frog combo she managed to land two lobelias during the frogs duration. If only that BBL would have landed >_<. I think if he would have replaced the 5b -> BBL with 6a BBL it might have worked. Yeah... Rachel got shut down at the end when Jin started poking from a distance.

Tari Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Oh, it's very nice to see a succesful 3c(1 hit) 236a, finally~. And someone actually use 6b, though he didn't follow it up with 5b or 6c. Did the BBL miss because of wrong timing, or did it miss because it just wasn't combo able? 5b is, in CT, generally slower on recovery than 6a, so the BBL will whiff in places where you replace 6a with 5b. That said, 6a is slower in CS than in CT, so both might not really be viable options anymore. Need confirmation on that stuff, though, or a video of someone actually landing a late 6a->BBL off of frog.

One lobelia would have been the safer choice for comboing into BBL, definitely. That said, the more damage we can do, the better~. If only it had worked.

But it was the classic corner combo with CDC 214A ender into tech-roll corner trap with 236A. The opponent fell into the trap, so he rolled and got hit by the 236A lobelia which gave time for the frog to trigger. He then waited for the frog to finish, and either did BBL straight away, or 6A into BBL(can't remember which). They're doing her new air iris combos and they're doing her mixups with 4B which is not safe on block but pretty much all Rachel has. Even something simple as getting out George seems to be tough because Rachel so far can't defend. 5a spam while bad, is viable in some instances. So I can't say I blame them. Better than me trying to constantly fish for that fork CH on sledge.

Think we're all agreed on that point. Most of the wins I've seen from Rachels in the new game involve running away and spamming out wind. Also, proof of concept in the IAD j.b j.c j.214c land 632146c combo. Can possibly be used for refrogging in a corner frog combo, with some adjustment (ie: 214a 66 2b 5b 236a1d 5b j.b j.c j.214c land 632146c).

It's not an actual combo, more like a trap that happened to work. That Litchi vs. Rachel match it's pretty clear that first round that Litchi got mind-gamed and intimidated. Rest of the match didn't go so hot either. Litchi won the second round because that was the only one that the player didn't drop practically all his combos. I still don't get why that Hakumen was spamming jump and timing his jCs way too late. Did he forget what range it hits?

Unfortunately, I don't think we can reasonably expect that kind of strategy to work against anyone who doesn't suck. Aside from the opponent handing her free combo opportunities by repeatedly running/airdashing into Lobelias, I'm not seeing a real gameplan for forcing damage. I don't think I've seen any oki game from her in any vids so far.
