Someone doesn't know the Litchi match up. Bitch does nothing but control space.

And what can Tager do about it?

Somewhere around nothing.

EDIT: lol mastery of 720

although it was netplay and sloppy, axis played the match well

i still think he needs to TECH sometimes, lol

Posted

I'd tech more if netplay lets me...also how come you always CH me every time I think I'm safe?

Posted

what ch

ch throw?

or you MASHING?!

and i mean ground tech, it's not CT anymore :psyduck:

Posted

I would ground tech but it doesn't work sometimes, especially during super flash so I just eat another 4k and I grab my face and scream.

The CH was me thinking ok I can swing now and then you just do one poke and I ate 4k into stupid.

Also, here's a question for Mike (or anyone else who burst baits a lot): what's your logic for when you decide to try to burst bait? Just when their health is relatively low? During certain points in certain combos? From my standpoint it always just kinda looks like psychic magic. I'd like to be able to do it but I can't really seem to call it very well. I get somebody in a burst with a MTW sometimes, but only rarely.

I wanted to chime in on this too for a second. There are two VERY common parts in combos where the opponent usually bursts. These are:

2C FC>(any followup)

Spark bolt>5C

However, better players may burst in obscure parts of a combo to throw you off (they know Tager can bait bursts). Like Heroic said, don't drop two or three combos trying to bait the burst though...

Better players would just confirm the start-up of some sort of attack and burst during the start-up animation to prevent your ability to RC/cancel into Voltic Charge (e.g. See the Collider animation start, press buttons).

In most cases, if you have meter, you don't have to drop the combo to do a Voltic Charge burst bait. It's better just to cover your options by making your combo burst safe.

For example, if I take Astaroth's examples: After a 2C FC, try to confirm into MTW as fast as you can for really good burst safe damage. Spark > MTW works fine too most of the time.

If you hit the opponent with a meaty 2B > 2C on wake-up, a lot of opponents will panic and burst right away after the 2C hits. In which case, make the combo burst safe by doing 2B > 2C > MTW.

And of course, hopefully nobody bursts at Collider > Collider whiff > 6B anymore.

If it's the last round and the opponent is down on health with a burst, I find that just doing staggered 5A pressure e.g. [ 5A > pause ] x N will bait out bursts extremely well.

Also don't forget gold bursts. Some players like to gold burst after a Gadget Finger. You can avoid getting hit by this by just super jumping over it, doing a MTW/XYH (risky), or gold bursting yourself (not as risky).

Tourney nerves sucks...your hit confirms was way off and you did some usual silly stuff...

YOU STOLE MY COLORS!!! RAWR!!

@ Litchi: Your lucky man, I had to deal with LK and I can't do shit against him...you actually did pretty nice there.

@ Carl: There are certain things you must do that you didn't do...something we all must do IB j.B, j.C, and j.2C for yuur free 360 and be aware of what nirvana is doing when sandwiched, its pretty easy to see what carl is doing if you take a quick look at nirvana.

@ Ara: I...I...I'm speechless.

Iso some of the stuff you did was fucking gdlk, you make me want to play the game right now.

I think against the Litchi you could have also punished the 5C > 3C blockstring with just plain old 360A when you didn't have meter.

Heh, thanks for the kind words guys.

And yeah Heroic, I should have put a slightly larger disclaimer pointing out....it's Australia. We're all scrubs down here. :S

Leo, yeah, her 3C is slow enough and her hitbox extends so you can 360A it, but I'm usually scared that they'll 4D or something like that. Also I don't have a litchi player to practice against so I'm not too used to seeing her strings. >.>

Very nice, Iso. I think you could work on your pressure a bit though. Throw in a little more 6A. Your defense is freaking amazing. If only my defense was half that good...

The commentary in Iso's videos is infinitely better than the "commentary" on AXIS' videos.

"LIST SPECIAL MOVES! SIMPLY REPEAT WHAT JUST HAPPENED ON SCREEN WITH NO ADDED INSIGHT! REPEAT THE WORD "SCIENCE" OVER AND OVER!"

You aren't DacidBro buddy, sorry.

I prefer Mr. Camaro's amazing string of nonsense to Dacid's "Nice tick grab! Nice pickup! Nice...oh no, he got hit. NICE BAIT! Nice finish!" In fact, next time I see him I'ma buy him a thesaurus.

Edit: Also I have to say, Iso is looking so godlike in those videos. First match vs. Arakune was sexual.

"Sooo nice."

You're right, sometimes he gets into those grooves, but I really think he's a hilarious commentator.

Iso - just watched a few of your matches...the commentators may not know the game very well, but EVERYTHING is awesome in an Aussie accent!

You'll win for sure as long as you keep playing people who back tech in the air, wtf. And your okizeme is good, I keep forgetting to 2B in the corner.

Tip - you miss MTW opportunities a lot, in particular at the end vs Akai, after the AC you could have just killed him with 6C xx MTW, which is auto burst bait as well. Similarly, when you Spark, 5C'd and he bursted, you could have used MTW to auto-bait (or just XYH baited in general).

Burst bait advice: Life lead + already won a round + they might die from the combo makes either Spark or Spark, 5C or CH 2C irresistable burst points.

Real men use hot pink and bright yellow.

That is the actual color I use, but the PS3's they had didn't have that color.

i love the in the corner 6C xx MTW. so many people burst the 6C (was more fun in CT when they took more dmg for bursting but its still a good'n) also after MTW you have them cornered and that gives you good options. 2b xx AC is a nice reset that works most the time if they are magnatized, also you can 5b xx spark xx 5c 6a xx AC sometimes depending on spacing and opponent. (this last one is easier after they burst because it resets the combo, i havent really done enough research on it yet but i know depending on the leading combo sometimes they can tech between the 5C and the 6A)
