InspectorOda Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Uhh, what do you mean by the 6A has to be blocked? I get the full combo to connect even with 6A > jC. It has to be an instant 5D press in order for the D bug to hit before jC hit stun ends though. I just went in training mode to verify and the 6A > jC, 6A > 6B, and 6A > 3B combos all connect on 6A hit, with the appropriate bugs locking the opponent down in block stun if the strings are blocked. These even work after one rep of 3A > 3A > 6A bug. :Edit: The last 3 videos posted on Adakune's Youtube channel with the blue Arakune all have this combo work fully too.
Skye Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 He means for the 100% combo. 6a doesn't deal max-death damage in a combo.
kousaka Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 yeah what skye said the setups are used for resetting into bigger damage starters.. yeah if they get hit by 6a it does all combo but you will see quickly that you only get a few loops in with that and damage is average, if you do tack on 3a>3a>6a bug before and that's included in the combo the hit stun proration will cause them to tech before rising D sometimes.
InspectorOda Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Oh, that's what you meant. Yeah, even in the corner the combo only does about 8-9kish if 6A hits, but hitting with a kill combo starter such as 2C, throw, and even an instant jC cross up or not isn't very reliable, since they are all extremely easy to block aside from the none cross up jC. At least with constant mix up you can almost guarantee a hit in 16 seconds into 50% recurse and 5k minimum damage. It does turn into a guaranteed kill if the opponent blocks 6A 100% of the time though, which is probably why I use them so much over high damage starters. And you're almost guaranteed to do at least some residual damage precurse. I reserve jC as a desperate kill tool personally.
dgowen Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 So I posted some vids awhile back of my super scrubby Arakune. I took a lot of your tips into account, I also watched Skye's videos repeatedly to learn some new curse techniques. I'm not saying I'm a whole lot better... because I'm not... but I'm doing a better job of playing. There are physical limitations that inhibit me from being better (i.e. I screw up air dashes a lot, so instead of an element of surprise, I float carelessly into anti-airs) but I am working to improve those when I can. Full time job and life get in the way of playing more then I'd like to, but you gotta work with what you have... and well... I'd much rather have that then limitless time to play a game honestly :-P Anyway, here are some of my matches that demonstrate my improvements. I'm looking for more tips and refinement. I think I'm getting the game mechanics down a lot better (I didn't get a good grasp of this in BB:CT)... it's a work in progress and I'm having quite a bit of fun doing it. Arakune vs Hakumen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhnJ2hTDZoI Arakune vs Rachel (At about 5:56 I hit a pretty awesome 'totally on purpose' full curse combo) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXoqH1ERwQs Arakune vs Tsubaki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPYQT8bpZck Bonus! Arakune vs Bang (3:56 is a full curse 'combo'... it blue beats, didn't realize this happened, but in real life you can do this for full curse) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AloxCOS-wnE
kousaka Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 clipped out the setups from the new crazy combo vid that journal uploaded.. it'll make it easier to study dgowen: also watched those matches you posted and your have a good start on arakune, 1)i see you attempting the instant air dash combos and getting regular jump. If you get those down all those corner 5a>6b, 2a>5b>5d, and 6a>5d's would squeeze out much more curse. 2)during curse building combos you need to learn when you will go into curse mid combo such that you can take advantage of it. Common situation is after jA>JC>JD or after a 5D out air or ground. You can directly go into a small loop + knockdown for resets from these. 3) 5c/2c FC stuff, haku, rachel and tsubaki are all funky case so keep at those character specifics 4) Confirming random air hits or random air bugs into things. It'll take some time but any random air bugs into jA or vice versa into j6a once or twice into wheel will get you started. Just note C bug you wait for them to float up after it hits, any other hits just do as many hits as you need such that C and D bug have time to recover before you land.
Skye Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Your loop starters are also very shoddy. Brush up on them, you can find all necessary info on the first page.

Sledge inbetween 6a-5d too strong... there is always next week I remember mentioning that you can do [6a > 2b > 2a]xn, it's a good gimmick/mixup, and you can hitconfirm each move into curse meter. Better luck, bro.
ryofoong Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Best mixup ever is 6A -> j.C!! Super mix up potential! Like it has ALMOST 1 mix up. Almost.
Skye Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Best mixup ever is 6A -> j.C!! Super mix up potential! Like it has ALMOST 1 mix up. Almost. Barring curse, that mixup is worthless unless the j.c is an FC.

ryofoong Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 That's why I said it had almost 1 mix up. Which would lead one to believe it has 0 mix up potential.
