All it is is a Arthong custom plexi top and washer, Seimitsu ball top, and Seimitsu clear buttons. Then custom print under the plexi and under the center of the buttons. Very simple.

Yep, I was quite surprised how easy the HRAP was to take apart and assemble back. So easy that I'm thinking of painting the black body white someday.

Well this is only my second attempt at building a stick, and the first using artwork. I have a lot to learn still and it's not yet complete. I found myself a day job and so I have less time for this. Nevertheless! It does mean it fuels the costs of finishing this project (Want to add an LED inside the bubbletop. :3 ) and beginning my next one. I built this mainly for playing at home. I have an old MayFlash outfitted with Sanwa parts for travel but it's pretty beat and so I'm going to build a far smaller stick than my FLCL one next time around.

I know my wiring and such is very rudimentary but it didn't come to mind to get Q/Ds. It's not perfect, mainly due to inexperience, bad planning, and a dull bandsaw. Lol. I will eventually once I finish it completely. All that's left is upgrading the PCB to Multi-Console and adding a PS2 cable onto it. Makes it far easier as I used to use a PS2 to USB converter. Next paycheck. >3

Posting really late, gah, bedtime for work tomorrow. Any constructive criticism is welcomed. Diving into the modding and building scene headfirst!

I'm jealous! I want a stick! :v:

Nice sticks to everyone btw. I love seeing the different art on them and what you guys do.

I've got like 9 fightsticks, but here's the Blazblue related one I just finished.

Originally an HRAP3 SA, this stck now has an LS-32, and Seimitsu screw ins buttons; plexiglass and clear 31mm dustcover; MC Cthulhu and Xbox 360 Madcatz gamestick PCBs switched via an Imp chip; and an RJ-45 for use with different game systems.

Wow!

Very nice Sticks here.

Specialy the BlazBlue ones.

Wish I could make one of those (or knew someone in my country who could make one).... :(

Not much sticks to get in the Netherlands... only the basic Hori ones (like the Tekken 6 stick).

[edit]:

Are there any EASY guides available on making a stick ?

Guides I have found so far are very, very hard....

Found a parts supplier in my country though.

The absolute easiest guide would be something like:

1. Get wood, cut it

2. make top panel ouf of same wood, drill it

3. glue it together

4. sand it

5. Paint it (optional)

6. insert buttons and stick pcb and wire it

7. play

That's pretty much what i did on my first build. If you don't want to bother with that you can get a pre-made case and just do the buttons and wiring yourself. www.qcfgaming.com is a good choice for good priced boxes. They do ship internationally as far as i know. Hope that helped some. Ignore my guide if you want :P

Some of my sticks http://yfrog.com/1qgedc0057j The Hrap has different buttons and artwork on it now and i've since built another one. i'll post pics as soon as i can find my damn camera

Yo guys. Here's my first arcade stick build. Carl gets not love so I figured I'd show him some. Over all this took me 9-1/2 months to do. The length of time is mostly due to me trying to figure out how to paint Carl and Nirvana in photoshop, buying the equipment (had to buy things over the course of months because I'm broke), school, and the fact that this is my first time building a stick so I was really slow as to not screw this thing up. A lot of hesitation was involved. But it came out pretty darn well.

Theme: Carl Clover and Nirvana

Stick and Buttons sanwa. The home button is Seimitsu

Wood: Purple Heart treated with a high gloss polyurethane.

Artwork done by me. Painted in photoshop.

RJ-45 jacks for multiple consoles. I even included the head phone jack. I used Carl's hat for the home button

That's a lot of goddamn pictures.

So the case and engravings are awesome. The art is... weird. Carl looks like he's trying to scare someone.

Yeah I was afraid people wouldn't dig that art. The thing is I wanted this stick to be 100% mine. I'm trying to become a better artist. The thing is humans are not my specialty let alone an anime style. Objects are more of my thing. It took me a month to figure out how the heck I was going to even draw it. That was the best I could do. Doing the art in photoshop was a learning experience on its own besides building the stick.

At least you can easily replace it if you come up with something bettter.

Those engravings are really sick. The art is a tad odd, though. I'll be honest and say I don't much care for it. But as a whole, the stick is sick. That you made your own stick art is sexy, though.

Have you considered just making a plate for the "art" portion that was engraved wood? (I'm not sure how well that'd work, but it'd be hot.)

Alright guys thanks for the comment.

I was not too happy with the art either but I need to know whats wrong with it because its breaking my heart that it isn't being recieved so well.

Criticisms please....

Carl's hat looks mis-sized (Carl's hat is "2" head-unit sizes in-game (sidenote: if you go to buy an actual tailored top hat, they'll measure to this scale), while yours is a .9; this makes his head larger than the hat itself, and makes the proportions completely thrown off), for starters, and the wrinkle effects look a bit overdone; as you might or might not have noticed from the Sprites dump, Carl's outfit is snug but not tight. You've made it look both tight and wrinkled, as if he hasn't ironed the outfit in quite some time.

I'd suggest toning down the wrinkles a tad, perhaps making the undershirt a mite less form-fitting, and making his hat proportionately larger.

These are the main points that stick out the most to me. And remember; don't fear criticism. Take it all in stride.

RE: Carl Design -

Besides his face being a tad odd (he looks kinda like he's got some strange grimmace going on... I expect bees to fly from his mouth or something)

There does not appear to be a reliable light source on Carl. I see a shadow to the side of the zipper, but I don't see shadow anywhere else on him. This combined with the width of his top-coat make him seem too wide (Not even fat, just too large, like his chest has been stretched)

I can kind of see shadow on the metal plate (above the zipper) but it's subtle. Sadly, I feel you should magnify that shadow as since there is no actual depth to the work, you still need to really push the perceived depth and better use of shadow should help that out quite a bit.
