TheGreatReptar Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Yo guys! I'm new to the game, but got tons of fighting game experience. What I heard is Tsubaki is a low tier charater. Is it true? Anyway, I'm a lv25 player on xbox live and I'm quite good with Tsubaki. Sometimes I'm able to beat a lv 40+ char, BUT every time I face Ragna he beat the crap out of me. Here's the things I noticed durin my fights against Ragna: - his 5B beats Tsubaki's 5B - his 6A beats all my Air attempts - his Inferno Divider beats all my wakeup oki (not to mention he can combo from it to a 2k-2,5k dmg combo) - his Hell's Fang beats my ground game (with 5B>6A combo link too) So basically I can't approach Ragna. I can't poke. And if I'm in corner I'm dead, and I cannot charge (he beats air charge with ID, and he beats ground charge with Hell's Fang) Any advice? Tnx in advance. Relunx Use 2D to charge to build meter. React to Hell's Fang and block. If they do the followup, your opponent is a scrub, and you can freely punish. If they don't do the followup, more than likely they'll throw or mash 2A. Just DP to beat it as it will beat both options. If they start blocking afterwards, grab. Stay on the ground and make him come to you. 2C is a good antiair, use it if they airdash in. Either that, or don't play Tsubaki. She's pretty terrible. She should be playable in a few months though.
diospyros Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 In between Hell's Fang or Gauntlet Hades, you can actually 2a or 5a him(given that you don't use barrier or he doesn't rc). Also, if the Ragna goes for the air too much, you can time and use 2c.Also, practise charge cancel and counter assault. Even though Tsubaki is a low tier character, I would just stick with characters you like or comfortable with.
Relunx Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) New questions: What am I suppose to do while I'm in corner and the Ragna player just finished his combo. If I tech he do backdash on reaction and I can't escape and basically I roll into his feet and eat a full combo again... OR he just make a 1-2 steps away and uses 2b/c/d or other low attack to interupt my tech roll and eat a full combo... IF I don't tech...well that's obvious. I heard from a very good Ragna player that in BBCS2 Ragna can't combo from ID. Is this true? Coz in majority I lost to Ragna coz I can't bait ID very well and he puts me into corenr with 3-4k dmg and I'm dead bcoz of that sh*t tech. P.S.: I managed to earn 100 PSR in my Tsubaki's ranking. Never thought it would be possible. I can defeat Ragna and Tager players that are under lv25...for now I can only capable for doing this...luckyly I got a lv 45+ Ragna and Tager friend so I can training with them, but mostly they mopping the floor with me, but in rare cases I can win some matches (5 out of 25 matches), but they said I improved a lot... P.P.S.: I'll never give up on Tsubaki, I know she is low tier and she sucks against almost every charater, but I like challenge. She is the only charater who can fit for my style and taste. And only the good new of BBCS2 give me more strenght to keep playing with her, coz in the future she is "buffed" a little and Ragna and other shit-newbie friendly char are nerfed. Neutral tech (down+button) and block. It's not the greatest position to be in, but at least you're not immediately taking damage again. You don't really want to be in the corner, so you might want to consider a counter assault or something once you block a few things, or if you can instant block and get back on the offense, that works too. You just have to neutral tech and work on your defense.
HolyOrderChipp Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 She should be playable in a few months though. What do you mean by that, exactly? Gettin' my hopes up, you are.
pktazn Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 ^ CS2 changes appear to make her more viable than before.
TheSexyHat Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi there I have practicing with Tsubaki and so far so good! But have problems for the challenge mode in "mission #03" I have no problem with the first combo until the last command, every time i press 22a the CPU just jumps out of the combo which is the only thing I need to land on him. I tried using the analog stick and even if it's easier making her specials(236a/214a) it "slows" me down to much for 22a. Why should I do? MORE practice? Get an Arcade Stick? Thanks in advanced!
pktazn Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Don't wait for the animation to finish on the 214a. Input the 22a immediately after inputting the 214a. If it helps, you can input the motion and let go of the dpad/analog stick/arcade stick as long as you're holding the A down and still be able to do the move.
TheSexyHat Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Don't wait for the animation to finish on the 214a. Input the 22a immediately after inputting the 214a.That's the thing, everytime I do it before the animation it doesn't follow and if it does the command the CPU jumps out of it. I think that this is one of those moments where there is a "super-mega" precise time If it helps, you can input the motion and let go of the dpad/analog stick/arcade stick as long as you're holding the A down and still be able to do the move.Wait, you lost me here
pktazn Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Well I've done it on the arcade stick and I input the motion then let go of the stick but hold the button down and she's still in her pose as she's about to do the move. The thing that was messing me up was that since 214a is short and quick I would always try to input the 22a really fast but I'd let go of both the button and the stick. Then I found out I could just hold the button till I needed to release the move and that helped me for some reason You just have to be really quick like... this is the only way I can really describe it since a lot of friends told me this when I had trouble with it as well haha, you kinda have to "flow" inputting the motions. Don't really think about it.
TheSexyHat Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Oh! ok I understand now, thanks man this will help a lot and make other things less stressful
Ginseng Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Off topic, but speaking of stick troubles, I just did the dumbest thing I could ever do with my friend just now....play fighters with pad only (We both used stick for at least 6+ years). I couldn't even do DP motions LOL. It got even worse when we decided to play soul calibur 4....

-Seo Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Considering Tsubaki is in CH state while charging in CS2, does this count for her landing lag from JD?
Airk Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Considering Tsubaki is in CH state while charging in CS2, does this count for her landing lag from JD? We're not ignoring you, but nobody knows.
-Seo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 We're not ignoring you, but nobody knows. Haha no worries, was just something that randomly crossed my mind, so I figured I may aswell ask just in case someone were to know. Guess this is the problem, without us being able to test these things first-hand for the time being </3

You may want to save your meter for rapid cancels and/or counter assaults. (Or her surprisingly non-terrible Astral. :P ) B) You can tack on 236236 C/D after 5CC in most combos, or after a 22D at the end of her basic BnB. (5BB,2BB,5CC,236A,214A,22D,236236C/D). This doesn't really add a lot of damage overall, but I found it the easiest way to work in a super. Probably only actually useful if it'll end the round, and even then there's probably a better combo somewhere.

But yeah, it's a round ender. Sometimes I'll drop it to capitalize more off a low starter (2bb 5cc 22D 6C distortion), but that's a really questionable use of charge and meter, so I'm not sure I can recommend you use it. You can also use it to up your damage off corner 5bb 5cc 22d 6cc sjc j.C jc j.CC j.236a j.214c by spending a charge and doing j.214d instead, and using the distortion to hit them as they fall to the ground. This takes you out of the corner, though, so it's still something you don't want to blindly do. Edited January 3, 2011 by Dusk Thanatos
CassioAZ Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 alright thnx guys i got it, use her distortion only to do the killing blow. I'd like to ask also what blockstrings do u guys use? i pretty much only do the 5BB + 2BB + 5CC + "any other move"
