Airk Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Excuse me, Dustloop, if I may bother you for a second of your time. I'm currently (like, for real) in an argument about Tsubaki's Astral. The giant statue that shows up during her AH, does it wield a sword, or a spear? Even deeply, there's the argument that it's a claymore or a short spear. Please, help me settle this? It's clearly -not- a sword. If you glance at the 8 second mark here it has way too much haft to qualify. That said, I think it's a bit of a silly argument. It's none of the above. It doesn't even 'naturally' have a blade. It's a ceremonial sceptre that then sprouts some sort of energy blade. I suppose that would make it closer to some sort of spear like implement, though really, the options range from "short spear like with a modest haft and short blade" to "ridiculous weapon that defies all classification" with the same length half an excessively long blade. You can't actually -see- how far the blade extends, so the whole discussion is pretty much insoluble, but the combination of the "haft" portion that we do see, and the way it is held and used point pretty firmly away from "sword".
Sol.Badguy Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Hmm ok so I've got a question, I don't know how simple it is and I don't play tsubaki so if no one can help thats fine, but when I'm fighting my friends tsubaki and he gets me in the corner doing this classic bnb I see every tsubaki use where the finish it with 22A/B/orC I don't know for sure which, then while my character is getting up because I can't tech, he hits me with 22D fully charged unblockable. Is there any way around this besides bursting? Sorry if it's a dumb question, it just really confuses me. Also I might post this in general discussion in case this isn't the proper spot.

You should be able to time your tech so that the invincibility frames make 22D whiff, iirc.
sw1tch Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 How do you guys punish people not teching up right away or rolling? I have a hard time pressuring people on wake up.
TD Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 You wait - 5b - cc - dash 5b etc. But mix it up. A proper timed 5b punishes rolls. Just bnb again.
Slayer Alucard Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 How do you guys punish people not teching up right away or rolling? I have a hard time pressuring people on wake up. You're talking about a down tech. Characters doing this can reversal very quickly like Bang's down tech>5A, Tager's down tech>2C, etc. You can stop this by using moves that can otg, like 2B. If you feel it's too risky, simple stay cautious and punish accordingly. And using 2B to punish rolls is way more practical than 5B.
LordSpectreX Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 How comes Tsubaki's DP has terrible priority and range, and yet Ragna and Litchi's are so fantastically good.
Stray Inu Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Because Tsubaki is a terrible character. It makes sense that her DP reflects that, especially in comparison with Ragna's and Litchi's.
Phatsanta Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 On Tsubaki's 6th combo challenge where after you hit him with the 236D>214D how do you connect the 2CC in the corner? I'm looking at the video and it looks like shes dashing into 2CC. Cause she slides a little bit then does 2CC.
Wokker Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Hello guys, I have just started training with Tsubaki and ive read through some threads and the guides, but ive got a few questions that I could not find answers for. I have been only been playing rush-down characters since CT, so I know the basics of rush-down gameplay. But now on to the questions: - When Tsubaki´s under pressure, what should she do? 623A/D? - Tsubaki VS zoners. Is her charge a good move to cross the screen, or should I barrier jump forward? - I read that 236B has some inv. frames, is it worth doing VS projectiles? - What is Tsubakis best anti-air move? Thanks in advance.
Airk Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Hello guys, I have just started training with Tsubaki and ive read through some threads and the guides, but ive got a few questions that I could not find answers for. I have been only been playing rush-down characters since CT, so I know the basics of rush-down gameplay. But now on to the questions: - When Tsubaki´s under pressure, what should she do? 623A/D? Block. Keep blocking. Block some more. Sneak in a jab. Very rarely should you try to uppercut out unless you can really read what's coming. Edit: Oh, and you can use a counter assault if you want too, because your supers mostly suck anyway. :P - Tsubaki VS zoners. Is her charge a good move to cross the screen, or should I barrier jump forward? 236D is an acceptable way to close space IFF you don't abuse it. Likewise 236C or j214x if you have a rapid cancel in your pocket. Otherwise, stick to conventional means of approach. - I read that 236B has some inv. frames, is it worth doing VS projectiles? It is very difficult to time correctly, since the immunity is very short, you have to do it just as the projectile is about to hit you. 214B has more invulnerability, but not quite at the start. 22B has a full projectile guard (until you release? Not 100% sure) so you can shrug off projectiles, but it doesn't move you forward, so you don't usually get much out of using it. There's a pretty okay Video guide here that shows the different times her B moves have projectile immunity, but the timing is generally impractical. - What is Tsubakis best anti-air move? 2C is excellent. Edit: fixed a screwup in notation. There's no '213B' Edited December 3, 2010 by Airk
Airk Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Speaking of that tutorial vid, what's going on HERE against Hakumen? It looks like she starts to jump and then somehow cancels it, lands and throws?
BatousaiJ Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 TK j.236C. Gimmicky but useful in certain situations... for now.
Jordunable Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Hey guys, I'm fairly new to BlazBlue and ever newer to Tsubaki. Just here to ask what are your most common block strings? I come from a street fighter background so this game is fairly alien to me, so I'd be thankful for some guidance.
Shaffler Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Most common blockstring? 5A5A5A52A2A2A5A2A5A5A5A52A2A Hell, that's the only blockstring safe to use. If you wanna go for a medal, you can do some of those charge cancel shenanigans by doing the usualy BnB combo then cancel then add 6A or a grab.
Ginseng Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Hey guys, I'm fairly new to BlazBlue and ever newer to Tsubaki. Just here to ask what are your most common block strings? I come from a street fighter background so this game is fairly alien to me, so I'd be thankful for some guidance. Tsubaki can do basic BnBs with charge cancels vs low level players. However, once you get to mid/high level, most of her strings are based off simple pokes with 5B and jabs on the most part. Anything beyond that is very unsafe and can be easily punished or beat out by the other player's moves, especially by instant blocking.
Relunx Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Yo guys! I'm new to the game, but got tons of fighting game experience. What I heard is Tsubaki is a low tier charater. Is it true? Anyway, I'm a lv25 player on xbox live and I'm quite good with Tsubaki. Sometimes I'm able to beat a lv 40+ char, BUT every time I face Ragna he beat the crap out of me. Here's the things I noticed durin my fights against Ragna: - his 5B beats Tsubaki's 5B - his 6A beats all my Air attempts - his Inferno Divider beats all my wakeup oki (not to mention he can combo from it to a 2k-2,5k dmg combo) - his Hell's Fang beats my ground game (with 5B>6A combo link too) So basically I can't approach Ragna. I can't poke. And if I'm in corner I'm dead, and I cannot charge (he beats air charge with ID, and he beats ground charge with Hell's Fang) Any advice? Tnx in advance. Relunx
SnakeBD Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Any advice? Pick Ragna. Sorry You can try baiting his DP and punishing (but make sure you have charge, so it will hurt him). He will eventually stop doing it, then you can get in with some mixups. You just have to be way smarter player to beat Ragnas consistently, he's like Tsubaki with infinite charge, but better.
